Review: I [redacted] purchased a vehicle from Mid West Engine,Inc. I put $5,500 down on a used 2003 Chevy Suburban ,having put that amount down on the truck the dealer who did my paper work said there will be no interest/no late fee charges of payment left over ,just make payments of $147 when able. I was very honest with the company,by letting them know I wasn't employed at the moment I purchased the vehicle from a settlement that I received after my mother " [redacted]'s" death. I started making my payments of $147 the following month.Meanwhile I started to receive letters about repossession,so I went to the company to explain what I was told by the dealer I purchased the vehicle from, [redacted] and also --[redacted] stated he no longer work there and that I need to make some type of payment, which I've done more than several times I even had family & friends help me with payments when I wasn't able. There have been times where I've sent other people to make payments for me and when they return they stated that [redacted] and [redacted] would make statements like; he's a grown man why are you helping him etc. Then I started to realize on my statements my payment had not been reduced several times I've made payments to the company. So in order to make things better/quicker I asked if we could lower the payments which the company agreed. Not being notified that my original contract would be terminated [redacted] came from outback of his office asking me to just put my signature down on a form in order to lower the payments. Not too long after I started receiving letters about late fee charges being added. So I called to ask what was going on with these late fee charges all of a sudden,([redacted] ) talking loudly/screaming at me stating that he don't care that I'm from Chicago, he also stated that If I knew how to read I would've noticed that they changed my contract and added late fees, and then hung up on me. So I contacted the Revdex.com to file a complaint about the situation, but by time I received the complaint forms in the mail,I had talked with [redacted] and he stated that he's a reasonable guy just keep making some type of payment because he really don't want to go threw this paper work. Although I was very angry about the statement he made about me not being able to read , I still made payments to other employers,so I wouldn't have contact with [redacted] or [redacted] because I didn't like the insults. Still come to find out several payments I made to the other employers wasn't being recorded by [redacted] or [redacted],and when I explain to them I've made payments to there front desk and not them, they would state but you were late from your last payment which is keeping me in a whole and they know exactly what there doing, which hurts me because I've been very upfront and honest with the company. On 03/20/201 3 I received urgent mail to my door about Repossession of the truck with a bill that was higher than my last statement, and that's the reason I'm filing this complaint. I'm very stressed over the whole situation and I want someone legit to help me dispute the situation. P.S [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to receive my title from the company immediately ,I feel that's what I deserve for payments that weren't documented by the company Midwest Engine Service,Inc

Response:

On June 12th, 2013 [redacted] purchased a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban for total price of $6604.07 and at the time of purchase [redacted] paid $5500.00 down and financed the balance of $1104.07. He signed a no interest Loan Agreement for the amount of $1104.07 on June 12th, 2013 making his first payment due on July 12th, 2013 and by golly made his payment of $157.72 on time. Next payment due August 12th, 2013 no payment was made until we called him on August 21st, 2013 and asked for payment he said he would be in today. [redacted] showed up to make his payment of $157.72 and said he can only pay $100.00 at this time and said he would be in on Friday August 23rd, 2013 needless to say he never came back. 47 days later after several phone calls w/o response we sent him a Notice of Intent for Repossession on October 7th, 2013. On October 8th, 2013 [redacted] brought us $50.00 and agreed to get caught up by the next Monday October 14th, 2013 again there was no more [redacted]. We then called him several times and came in on October 16th, 2013 and explained that he can't make the payments so we rewrote a new note at zero percent interest again w/revised payments of $50.00 every other week until paid off and again he is in default. We have done everything possible to make it so [redacted] could make payments affordable and its obvious that he doe's not understand how lenient we've been. [redacted] needs to show some effort in making payments and maybe we wouldn't be so hard to get along with.

Response:

We deny all allegations made by [redacted], We have tried to talk to him several time we have extended his note to avoid repossession, at this point if [redacted] pays the principal balance by April 11th, 2014 of $402.46 I will release the lien and give [redacted] his title.

Review: When I began having car trouble, I first took my vehicle to Midwest Engine Service on November 9th 2013. I proceeded to leave it there to be "looked at" and two days later on November 11th 2013 I received a call from Midwest Engine Services informing me that the results of the vehicle diagnostics indicated a "cylinder 3 misfire" code and that if I wished to have this repaired, it would be ready the next day. In desperate need of a working vehicle, I readily agreed.

On the morning of November 12th, the next day, I arrived at the repair shop and paid the amount in full totaling $395.44 for the repairs. My vehicle was parked and waiting for me in the front and I was told it was "ready to go." Upon receiving my receipt I headed out to my car, put the key in the ignition and as soon as it started it began to misfire again on the spot, exactly the same problem it had that brought me into their shop the first time on November 9th. I had just paid in full for repairs that had not been done. The issue had not been fixed. I walked back into the repair shop, very upset demanding answers. Upon seeing my frustration, a front end attendant simply offered me a "loaner" car, told me they were busy and that later on they would "take a look at it again." I needed my vehicle for work and demanded to know when it would receive the repairs I had just paid for, upon which I was told "we will let you know." Since I had already paid in full for the repairs, I had no choice but to leave my car there in hopes that they would actually fix it the second time. The following day I received a call from them stating that more work needed to be done which would be an additional $624.40 separate from the $395.44 I had previously paid, for what exactly? To this day I still don't know. What I did know is that I had just left my car there nearly a week by this time and paid them to do work they never did because obviously the problem was still not fixed; I couldn't even drive my car out of their shop! So at first I told them no.

But I needed my vehicle fixed to get to work and so after considering it and because my hands felt tied, I called them back and agreed for them to go ahead and do the work it needed just so that I could have my vehicle working already. On November 15th 2013 when I went to pick up my vehicle, they proceeded to give me the second bill for $624.40 which stated that they had changed the fuel injector. I was able to drive my car home that day, but the following day on November 16th it broke down again! This time it misfired; my portable diagnostics scanner showing the same "cylinder 3 misfire" code and would not start at all. And of all days it was a Saturday so I had to wait until Monday to contact their repair shop. That Monday, outraged, I called them, and their response? Pay out of pocket for a tow to take my vehicle back to their shop so they could "look at it." Right away I asked them if I would be charged yet another expensive bill for more work if I were to do this, and their answer was, why yes of course.

Needless to say I did not take it back to their shop. Midwest Engine Services wrongly charged me ridiculous amounts of money on more than one occasion for parts and labor and yet my vehicle is in the exact same condition from when I first took it in to them! I am humbly asking for my money back so that I can afford to take my vehicle in to a different, honest establishment where my car can receive the care and repairs that it has needed since November 9th 2013. Thank you.Desired Settlement: After taking my vehicle to Midwest Engine services quite a few times and having my vehicle literally misfire on their lot making it unable for me to drive my car away at all, I do not trust them with my car. I do not wish to have them lay another finger on my vehicle; I simply ask that the monies I paid to them be refunded me so I may take my vehicle elsewhere to have the repairs done, which Midwest failed to perform, that it so desperately needs.

Response:

This vehicle was brought to our shop on Saturday November 9th, 2013 @ 1PM, We told our customer that we could look at his car on Monday November 11th, 2013. (We close @ 3PM on Saturdays & Closed on Sundays) When we test drove & inspected vehicle there were no engine misfires detected, computer scan test indicated a bank 1 knock sensor code & cylinder #3 misfire code in history. When we contacted customer we suggested that the # 3 fuel injector could be sticking or hanging up or bad & recommended a fuel system service as next step in diagnosis, we also told him that p/s belt was very loose & needed tightening, customer authorized repairs in the amount of $360.00 + Tax... We performed these services & vehicle was running fine. The next day the customer came in to pick his car up and after paying his bill he went to leave & the engine misfire was back. We then offered him a loaner car so we could recheck his. Upon checking out his car we found #3 fuel injector was bad so we call customer with an estimate to replace #3 fuel injector and he agreed. When customer picked his vehicle up on November 15th, 2013 it was running fine. On Monday November 18th, 2013 customer called us & stated that his car was doing the same thing again and that he took it to another shop that told him we never put in a new fuel injector and that it has the same problem again. Now reading in his complaint he stated that he used his portable diagnostic scanner that showed a cylinder #3 misfire again. We asked him to bring the car back so we could look at it again and he refused. He then Disputed the charges on his credit card and had them charged back to us, so we responded to his allegation and the money was returned to us. To settle this matter we would like to see the car again to verify what is going on with it and repair it.
