Mikes Gym Repair

Review: On 15 May 2013 [redacted] and his helpers replaced the belts and decks on the two FreeMotion Treadmills in the Julian Fitness Center. [redacted] had been requested to replace the parts with FreeMotion Brand parts. This was not done per our agreement. Generic parts were used. As this was not noticed until after [redacted] had completed the installation, and the equipment is needed in the gym on a daily basis, it would have been a hardship to have the treadmills out of service. [redacted] was notified that the replacement parts did not meet our expectations as soon as the discrepancy was realized. While doing the repairs, one of Mikes assistants broke a window in the gym. [redacted] agreed to pay the cost of replacement. The window faces the street and replacement was needed immediately. A repairman was called and the window was replaced that day. The cost of the replacement including materials and labor was $250.00. A copy of the invoice for the window replacement was sent to [redacted] immediately. Multiple attempts have been made to contact [redacted] for payment. [redacted] has been completely unresponsive to the request by our office for reimbursement. As of today, 23 October 2013, reimbursement for the broken window has yet to be received. Due to this situation, the decision was made to discontinue using Mikes Gym Repair for the routine maintenance of the equipment in the gym.On 16 October 2013 another fitness repair company was contracted to do the quarterly equipment maintenance. During that routine maintenance It was discovered that one of the replacement belts Mikes Gym Repair had used on one of the treadmills was the incorrect size and had caused damage to the motor of that machine. The belt will need to be replaced with the correct part and the treadmill motor must also be replaced. An estimate for the cost of materials and labor to fix the damaged treadmill has been received. The repair work will be scheduled in the near future. The damage is a direct result of the improper parts used by Mikes Gym Repair.Desired Settlement: The desired settlement requested is payment in full for the broken window replacement as well as full payment for the parts and labor to replace and repair the now compromised treadmill.The cost of the window replacement is $250.00The estimate to repair the treadmill is $1067.50 plus tax. The shipping cost of the parts is still to be determined. Repayment for tax and shipping is also expected in addition to the cost of parts and labor listed above.
