Review: Complaint is against Mike's Remodeling : Owner Mike S[redacted] Jr. , [redacted] , Va. [redacted] , cell ph.: ###-###-#### , Bus. ph. : ###-###-#### , www.mikesremdeling.net (email). I hired Mike to install 4 new interior doors (residence), June , 2014. All the doors were ordered per Mike's measurements and all being standard size. The doors were installed July 7. The family rm. bath door , 24" x 80" needed the entire vertical edge shaved to fit with in the door jam. Mike miss-measured the door knob opening (bore) rendering the door useless. He re-ordered another door , same measurements. His co-worker , Cody , re-installed the second door , July 18. The door is apparently a different width of that of the first door. There is nearly a 1/8th of an inch gap between the vertical edge and the jam allowing one to see into the bathrm. As explained to Mike, its very puzzling as to how two separate doors ordered, supposedly the same measurements and one needing to be shaved in order to fit and the other door (width) actually being shorter(?).After numerous calls , Mike finally came July 29 to evaluate the problem - he measured the door , width and length and stated it was a manufacturing error , miss-measurment. He said he would address the problem with [redacted] at [redacted] , where the doors were ordered and purchased and possibly get a replacement door at no additional cost since the (second) door is a defect. I have called Mike several times in the past month and gotten a variety of stories causing me to think that He is not planning on correcting the problem. Boring for the door latch/catch - vertical edge is sloppy and shows raw wood and the door strike plate (jam) needs to be re-set to hold the door firmly when closed. I have become overly concerned that this situation / problem will not be properly resolved - corrected because Mike S[redacted] has 2 separate Revdex.com complaints regarding customer service in the past year and has not responded to the customers or to Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I need a new family rm. bath door that fits properly as the first one did - sooner than later !!

Review: Mike's Remodeling started a bathroom remodel project at my house in August 2012. As part of this project, there was tile to be installed in the shower floor. It was installed, but the water from the shower did not drain. Mike's Remodeling redid some of the tile and it still does not drain properly. [redacted] was notified and came to my house to look at it and confirmed that it was not done properly. He stated he would come back to redo the shower floor. I have made many attempts to contact him since then with no response. The shower floor does not drain and water must be manually pushed into the drain. It is now March 2013 and still no response from [redacted].

Also, according to his website www.mikesremodeling.net, he has a customer guarantee of 1 year for labor and faulty work.Desired Settlement: I want the tile floor in the shower redone so that it drains properly.

Review: [redacted] is a general contractor that was hired to complete a 30 day renovation of a newly purchased house (Location of Event). Phone calls were held with [redacted] leading up to the closing of the house (4/7/2014) by [redacted]. [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]. [redacted] (Father) to determine the scope and direction of the project. It was agreed on 4/7 that demolition would occur on 4/8/2014 and run until Saturday 4/12 to ensure the house was ready for bathroom renovations the next week. At the time, this including renovation work on all three floors of the house, and primarily consisted of new hard wood floors throughout, a new master bathroom with extended closet, new base/crown/shoe molding throughout, renovation of entire stair system, and retrimming and painting the entire house. The amount of demolition and trash to be developed were to also be taken care of by [redacted]. A cost that was also passed onto **. [redacted]. [redacted] stated that he required up front payment for the entire week to get started, which would be $3000 for labor for 5 days. At the time, [redacted] stated this cost included three individuals working onsite, himself, his "lead carpenter" named [redacted], and "another pair of hands." **. [redacted] stated that he would also be helping as much as possible to ensure the timeline was met. [redacted] later stated that he thought **. [redacted] would spend more than $1000 dollars on procuring a dumpster to contain the demolition to be done, and offered instead to "insource" the cost for $1000 to fund [redacted] to buy a new trailer that could be used to carry trash away from the project each day. **. [redacted] paid the $1000 dollars. [redacted] called **. [redacted] to ask for Cash instead of the check that was already provided, because "the bank would not accept a check without the amount being written in long form on the check." This cash was provided to [redacted]. In total $4000 dollars were provided to [redacted] to perform demolition and removal of trash from **. [redacted]'s property. Although "work" was performed (described in detail below)from 4/8 through 4/12, the agreed upon work was far from complete. It would later require **. [redacted] over 50 hours of his personal time to complete demolition and re-planning his renovations while attempting to move households.

Additional Emails, communications, logs, and photographs exist to document and corroborate the events outlined above. Below is an excerpt from the notification email to [redacted] that **. [redacted] would be taking all actions possible against [redacted] unless his money was refunded for the services provided. [redacted] only called back once after receiving communication on 4/16/2014 and stated that he did not have the money to refund because he was "going through a divorce and his wife was taking all his assets." He stated that he would attempt to gather the money and repay however, this communication was the last that [redacted] would make with **. [redacted], **. [redacted], or **. [redacted].

**. [redacted] has since made several attempts to email [redacted] and verify that he has not re-thought his decision to not communicate and to deal with this issue amiably. Unfortunately, there has not been a response.

We paid you upfront, in cash, for what you considered a "trust building" exercise to get you started on the job. This was in the amount of $3,000.00 for 5 days of work for you, your primary helper ([redacted]), and another "helper" (from April 8th to 12th) You stated that your team would arrive as early as 7-7:30 AM, and that you would be on-site at 9-9:30 AM and that your team works until 5:30-6:00 PM everyday. Is is roughly 8-9 hours a day of working time that was agreed upon.

On 4/8/2014 - [redacted] and "[redacted]" toured the house, discussed the project, took measurements (that would have to be taken again), and began basic demolition in the master bathroom, and removing carpet on the second level, and down the stairs to the second level. Approximately 30 sq/ft of hard wood flooring was torn up. [redacted] arrived at 9:35 AM and both left by 3:30 PM. Your team also took time for lunch during that time span. You met us at Tile Shop from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM. [redacted] stated that he arrive at property at 9-9:30 AM.

On 4/9/2014 - [redacted] arrived at 10:30 AM. Took lunch. Left before 3:30 PM. [redacted] arrived after 2 PM, and left at 5:15 PM. [redacted] did not provide house key to [redacted] before leaving, owner had to close house. [redacted] stated he would be at the property at 9 AM next morning.

On 4/10/2014 - [redacted] arrived before 9:45 AM with "trailer" begin packing demo wood, and left by 3:20 PM. [redacted] arrives after 12 PM and leaves at 2:15 PM to goto The Tile Shop. Told owner that measurements for Wood and Tile would be ready to pay for by end of day. Owner received no calls, and [redacted] was no longer responsive to calls after that night.

On 4/11/2014 - No contact received at all. [redacted] did not show, and stated he was "at hospital with my wife." Later stated, "I told [[redacted]] to call and let u know about my wife and I wouldn't be in to day...".

On 4/12/2014 - [redacted] arrived with "trailer" and his 10 year old son from 8-10:45 AM. Removed toilet/vanity cabinet/lighting fixtures/and sink hardware and left pipes uncapped (no water in house). Left and never returned. [redacted] still not responsive.

On 4/13/2014 through 4/15/2014 - No communication received.

All told there was roughly 32 hours that could be accounted for which 120 hours at minimum were prepaid for 3 individuals. The amount of work performed was not commensurate with what was promised. In addition, $1,000 by check was provided to you for complete trash removal from demo. Not only is the demo not complete, but all assortments of debris were not removed as promised.

END

In addition to filling a police we report we ([redacted] and [redacted]) are also reporting this incident to several authorities including the Revdex.com, VA DPOR, online review sites, and local general contractor supply stores.

We are attempting to take all the appropriate actions throughout the process to ensure that contractors like [redacted] do not perform this type of theft against others as well in the area.Desired Settlement: Refund of $4000.00
