M&M Smog Test

Review: I took my car to M&M Smog Test in San Clemente, CA on October 29, 2013 at approximately 3:30pm for a smog check. After waiting about an hour it was obvious the technician, who would only identify himself as "**," was overwhelmed and flustered due to the number of customers in line and because he was working alone.When it was my turn, I told "**" to "be careful" when getting into my car. There is a very important control panel on the floor running board in the doorway that contains two buttons which electronically release the hood and trunk. Because the car sits low to the ground whoever enters, if not paying attention, could step on that panel or get a foot caught on it. After my car was positioned, I saw "**" fiddling with the control panel on the floor runner for several minutes. I assumed he was attempting to open the hood by using the release button on the control panel. A few minutes later he called me over to my car and indicated that he couldn't release the hood. When I looked down, I saw that the hood release button was clearly broken and sunken into the well of the panel. I immediately told "**" the button was not that way when I brought the car into him and he must have either stepped on it when he was getting into the car or pressed down hard, jamming the button instead of lifting the button gently to release the hood."**" instantly became defensive and tried to make a claim that the button was broken before I arrived. I insisted it was NOT in that condition when I brought it to the shop and insisted he pay to have it fixed. He became irate and screamed at me, belittling me in front of other customers. I called the manager of the shop and she refused to help as well. I took my car to a reputable auto repair shop and the Service Manager (who is familiar with my car) said it was obvious someone who didn't know what they were doing broke the button.M&M Smog Test is unprofessional, careless and inexperienced. DON'T take your car here.Desired Settlement: I would like M&M smog to be investigated/inspected. I have an exotic car & clearly the technician did not know what he was doing. Instead of being irritated at me, he could have just asked for my assistance in opening the hood & these issues would never have happened. I have pictures of the damage & have also filed a complaint that has been investigated by the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Without my good relationship with the repair shop, this broken part would have cost me HUNDREDS of dollars.
