Review: When I got my car on 3/11/2016 it was not driveable. [redacted] told me it needed a thermostat and he would put it in if I bought the thermostat. I told him I was not able to get thermostat until payday. He left me with the car and said we could get it in 2 weeks on payday. On 3/14 I went to him because engine icon was showing a/c off due to high engine temperature. He said we need thermostat immediately. Bring it tomorrow 3/15 and I will put it in. on 3/15 shop was closed. He didn’t get call at all until later that night when he said done bring your girlfriend (they had a conflict earlier) [redacted]”. He said this was becoming a “charity case”. From the 29th if Feb we have had no contact with this business. They have no contacted us since then. We took a [redacted] on Thursday to get to their shop and they had our car on the ground and he was working on another vehicle. A week ago Friday my girlfriend made contact with them and they said that they just got the engine in and that it would be done within the next two days and nothing yet has been done. I just want to pay for the thermostat and be done. Desired Settlement: -Consumer stated: I want to receive the thermostat as promised and pay as promised and thats it.

[redacted] stated "This customer has not even paid their bill and they have not even called to rectify that situation then has the audacity to file a complaint. He posted dated a check to me for the remaining 188 balance and it was no funds in there. We have tried calling them multiple time to get the balance paid and they have been ignoring us"

Yes I wrote Mr [redacted] a check for 185.00 on March 11th but the

check was voided because he returned the car, in an undrivable condition.

When he returned the car at that time he said they did not put in a thermostat because I could not afford it.I gave him a post dated check on the same day for 200.00.than he insisted I GIVE HIM ANOTHER 150.00 IN CASH,or he would not give me my car so I gave him the 150.00.

Than I got into my car the temp icon came on. so the car was not completely fixed.

because of this treatment I was fearful to talk to him was afraid he would keep my car.

The vehicle came into the shop in very bad condition, after a few hours of inspection and running test we determined the engines cylinder head was cracked and engines thermostat had been removed from the engine along with other missing / broken components.We notified the customer and gave a estimate of the cost for repair. The customer decided not to do the repair and wanted the car towed back to him,I agreed. I made the customer aware of the charge for $210.00 for the diagnostic and the two tow's.
