Dear [redacted]:My husband and I ([redacted] and [redacted]) took our car to [redacted] to have them check the car and see what was wrong with it. [redacted] from [redacted] had the car put on a lift and checked over. When they found out the upper and lower ball joints where bad [redacted] asked who inspected this car, we told him Lebzelters of [redacted]. [redacted] then called Lebzelters and spoke to Bob. Bob was going to have the manager, Dan call [redacted], and that never happened. [redacted] called back a couple days later, spoke to [redacted], and they set up a meeting to look at the car in question. [redacted] and [redacted] from PA Department of Transportation the state inspection inspector went to [redacted] to look at the car and indicated to [redacted] this car should have never been passed for PA Safety Inspection. Lebzelters is trying to place blame on the owner of the car when they are the ones that dropped the ball by passing a vehicle that was unsafe to drive.Sincerely,

Review: On 2-21-2014 we had our vehicle at Lebzelters for state inspection, they inspected it and put a sticker on.

We started hearing clunking noises underneath vehicle-on 4-10-2014 we took vehicle to [redacted]-They found both upper and lower ball joints to have a lot of play(more than the state requirement)

which is a SERIOUS safety issue! Pictures were taken and documented for further use, also the local auditor was notified of the infraction.

Lebzelters never contacted us to discuss or resolve the the safety issue.

I do know that this is not the only incident that this facility had in the past couple of months.Desired Settlement: I would settle for them to be responsible for at least half( 1/2) of the repair bill from [redacted] who completed the mechanical work for the vehicle to be safe and state compliant.

May 31, 2014Dear [redacted],This letter is in response to your complaint ID [redacted].The inspection in question was performed on February 20, 2014. The state inspection technician who performed the state inspection on said vehicle is a very conscientious and capable individual. He happens to be the hardest technician I have when inspecting vehicles especially in the area of front end parts within tolerances. I have no doubt that if the ball joints in question were as bad as customer claims the ball joints would have been failed for state inspection. I have enclosed a copy of the work order and final inspection bill given to customer. Please take note on estimate, my technician made note that steering wheel was off center prior tovehicle coming into our shop for state inspection. At the time, the customer was called on February 20, 2014 my Service manager neglected to discuss this point with the customer. The only points discussed were needs for vehicle to pass state emission and inspection. The customer gave approval for repairs.February 21, 2014 customers wifes father called our shop to complain of daughter not being able to drive vehicle because steering was off center. I advised my service manager to have vehicle immediately brought back to our shop for alignment to be performed. Before an alignment is performed in our shop, the technician checks for any damaged or worn parts that would affect the alignment readings. All front end parts that affect alignment were within specifications and the alignment was performed. I have enclosed a copy of no charge invoice to customer for alignment and printout verifying front toe was adjusted and steering wheel now currently level. When the vehicle left our shop all parties wereApril 10, 2014 customer hears noises under vehicle. Customer takes vehicle to another repair facility. The repair facility finds left and right upper and lower ball joints unsafe. I have no way of knowing what happened to vehicle from February 21to April 10. With the winter conditions as they were anything with a vehicle and road conditions is possible. I can assure you on February 20, 2014 the ball joints were within state inspection specifications. The customer in all emails he wrote continues to accuse us of not contacting him regarding this problem. To the best of my knowledge he never contacted our location to let us know there was a problem. If I don't know of the problem I cannot help a customer resolve their problem.I have also enclosed GM specifications for ball joints.Thank you for your consideration.Sincerely,

I was never told by Lebzelters that it needed lower and upper ball joints. They then acknowledged that this was their fault. For over a month after the car was inspected, I was hearing this really bad noise while driving. I was just not feeling safe while driving. opted to take my car to a different shop, and went to [redacted], where I spoke to [redacted]. He was very helpful. He drove my car and agreed that something was wrong. He put it on the fift and found that the lower and upper ball joints had much more play than the state requirements allow. [redacted] asked who inspected the vehicle and I told him Lebzelters. [redacted] then called and spoke with Bob. Bob, who is the assistant manager, informed [redacted] that the upper left ball joint was noted to have play in it two years ago. I was never informed of any issue with the ball joints, and I have had my car inspected by Lebzelters every year. [redacted] was then informed that Dan, the manager, would be advised of the issue and return his phone call, but he failed to do so.This was a major safety issue that should have been taken care of before the car ever had an inspection sticker applied.
