Review: On Friday, November 7, 2014, my son's car was leaking a fluid which looked to be power steering fluid. He called home saying that his car was smoking and the steering wheel was becoming hard to turn. My 21 year old son, [redacted], took the car to the Midas at [redacted]. to have the [redacted] looked at and fixed. A machanic looked under the hood and told my son that it smelled like power steering fluid and also pointed under the hood. My son left his car there for further evaluation. A little later my son received a call from the mechanic saying that they needed to change the gaskets out because of an oil leak. My son had to have his car to get back home so he told them to go ahead and fix it. My son was charged $53.99 for a valve cover gasket set and $368.46 for labor after taxes the total charged and paid was $416.07. When my son returned to [redacted] late that night, the car was smoking and the steering wheel was still challenging to turn. The problem was not fixed! We contacted the manager of the store and was told to take it to the Midas in [redacted]. The mechanic at the Midas on [redacted] in [redacted] told us that the hose had a hole in it and causing power steering fluid to leak and be thrown on the hot things under the hood causing the car to smoke. We told the [redacted] manager that we felt like my son had been taken advantage of and that the car was misdiagnosed by the machanic in [redacted]. According to what the machanic from [redacted] had said, the car had definitely been misdiagnosed. I would like a refund of my money because I had to put it in the shop again and was without a car for two days to have something fixed that was already supposed to be fixed. The gasket covers had been changed on that car at the end of last year already.Desired Settlement: $416.07

[redacted] came to visit us at Midas 11\7\2014. His complaint about the car was there was smoke coming out from under the hood on the description was there was smoke coming from the back of the motor. Once the vehicle was inspected he was brought out to the car to examine the oil leak. Show and tell is what we like to do so the customer is aware of the problem and what we will need to do to repair the problem. With the vehicle raised in the air we showed Mr. [redacted] the oil leak coming of the back of the valve cover dripping on to the Exhaust manifold, we also showed him the puddle of oil that was on the top side of the motor once the car was down. The leak from the power steering from what was explained to me by phone, was pretty extreme to where he is losing power steering fluid within a very short period of time. Power steering does hold high pressure when steering. So when the car is on, it is leaking power steering fluid, also the leak is coming from the crossover tube that is mounted to the rack and pinion. Something of this nature we would have recommended a replacement of the part. Also the location of the power steering leak is about 2 1/2 feet away and underneath the exhaust manifold. The valve cover leak was dripping down onto the exhaust manifold which we specifically showed Mr. [redacted]. During any of our repairs we do a system check to make sure the repair was done correctly. During this time no leaks where seen besides the recommended oil pan gasket. I am sorry that Mr. [redacted] had another problem occur during or his trip to or in [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] also had this repair done with another shop and still had warranty on his repair. We do believe and showed Mr. [redacted] that the repair was needed and was the issue at hand at that time.
