Palm Cove Cabinetry & Renovation Reviews (%countItem)

We hired Palm Cove Cabinetry to install new kitchen cabinets. There was very poor workmanship on the initial installation, causing damage to 11 cabinet doors and 2 drawers. There were also 3 drawers that were obviously damaged during shipment and should have never been installed, but they were anyway. Pics:***
There was very poor initial workmanship on the backsplash, causing uneven and jagged pieces in multiple areas that Palm Cove Cabinetry did not intend to fix until we complained.
Additionally, there were damaged/oddly cut cabinet wall under the sink due to incorrectly placed cabinets.
Radcliffe (owner) removed our perfectly fine garbage disposal and replaced it with an inferior model without discussing with us. Then he installed the garbage disposal without the safety gasket.
There were sharp unfinished corners on the backsplash border, and there were unfinished and poorly patched areas of drywall.
Radcliffe brought his child to the worksite without asking for or getting our permission. He also brought another client/stranger into our home without our permission or knowledge. In both cases, opening us up to unnecessary liability.
Several times Radcliffe did not respond to text messages, emails or calls when we were asking for updates. One time we received no communication for over 2 weeks after multiple attempts to contact the company.
He promised us new replacement doors and drawers (16 total) from the manufacturer, then to find out that he only received 3 replacement drawers. Even when he received those 3, he did not contact us with an update like we had agreed upon the week earlier. He told us we would get the new replacement doors within a month, but then somehow they only received 3 drawers. I am assuming the manufacturer would replace those since they were damaged in shipping, but I am not sure how he did not know you would not receive the other 11 cabinet doors and 2 drawers.

Desired Outcome

Refund In an email to us, dated September 8, 2019, Racliffe, the owner wrote, "At this point I will refund your deposit in its entirety. And I will repay the amount that was paid to replace the back splash." We are requesting a full refund of the original down payment, equalling $6,765.

Palm Cove Cabinetry & Renovation Response • Nov 25, 2019

At the beginning of entering into an agreement with the *** to do renovations on their home, it was clearly expressed that they were in a rush with getting the project done quickly as the wife was on summer vacation from school and would like it to be done before it was time for her to return to school. With this in mind I advised her that I had an out of town vacation scheduled and to meet the deadline it would mean commencing work on a weekend and I wasn't able to as it was my weekend to take care of my son, she advised me that in the interest of time she would be ok if I brought him to the initial install and begin works to be finished in time. She gave me this ok to proceed as I would not be back in town before it was time for her to return to school as a teacher.
When modifying any area in a homeowner's home, there is always a punch-list after the initial install which highlights areas that they liked and areas that they think needs more work done or to be corrected. After the initial installation I was contacted by the homeowners wife and it was obvious from her tone that there was something that she was displeased about, she was irate and adamant that she needed cabinets that I had damaged to be replaced, I didn't have a chance to examine the cabinets and see the fixes that could be made but I was confident it could be fixed but she was insistent that she needed new cabinets. The very next morning she contacted me again to advise me that she had contacted home depot and other contractors and she was in the process of reviewing estimates for the job that I was currently on, at this point I felt pressured and was of the opinion that no matter how I made amendments she was not going to be satisfied. The homeowner Mr. was correct and there was a break in communication as I was being bombarded with multiples phone calls and text messages and I felt like the situation was taking the turn towards becoming hostile and I was trying to stay calm and not feel pressured and make a mistake under duress.
We made several attempts to amicable settle this matter and every time we came to a common ground, they had more demands and more expectations added. After several communications it was expressed that the felt that items were removed from their home and they were accusing me and the workers I work with of being responsible for that, the items to date have not been identified. I became very nervous for my safety and well being as I felt it was these homeowner's intention of being ill faith towards me and find a problem with my just being in the home.

After reviewing works that was done and what modifications was made, it would not be fair to return a full refund as walls were changed and a seat installed in homeowners house.

We had come to a final settlement payment and I was to pick cabinets up when*** had more demands which we felt that as the business relationship we had was coming to an end, it was unfair to ask more demands of Palm Cove.

We are prepared to settle on the last email that they agreed to and to return to us the kitchen we installed and pay us for works we did and at that time we will refund $4,205.46

Customer Response • Dec 05, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We agree to the $4,205.46 refund in the form of a cashier's check to finally resolve this.

I will make myself available any day next week (Monday, December 9th through Friday, December 13th) for them to pick up the cabinets and deliver the cashier's check.

Once I have received the refund and the cabinets are taken out of our garage, I will then contact the Revdex.com to let them know that it has been successfully resolved.

Palm Cove Cabinetry & Renovation Response • Dec 10, 2019

We will be available to pick up the cabinets and deliver the check Thursday December 12, 2019 at 9:00-10:00.

We hope to finally put this matter behind us.

Customer Response • Dec 28, 2019

Case is not closed. Palm cove responded to Revdex.com on 12/10/19 saying they would arrive on 12/12/19 at 9 am to pick up the cabinets. Revdex.com did not relay that message to us until 12/12/19 at 12 pm so we were not there.

Palm cove sent a private email that they would "check their schedule and text you some dates over the weekend" which they never did.

We have not resolved this. We have not received the refund promised. I will be available Friday, January 10th all day for palm cove to pick up the cabinets and deliver the cashier's check.
