A while back, I'd hired Palms & Trees to do maintenance on my yard while I was out of the country for a summer. They were supposed to come out every other week and cut the grass, trim overgrowth, etc. My neighbors were keeping an eye on the house and informed that someone would be taking care of the yard. I was gone for 2 months, when my neighbor emailed to tell me the yard was over grown and getting out of control. She took pictures to prove it. I returned a month later to find the yard cleaned up. Palms and trees had been out the week before. I thought maybe there was a communication error, and they had misunderstood our agreement, then I got the bill. They charged me for coming out every 2 weeks for 3 months, plus extras for replacing broken sprinkler heads - which I never asked for, and which they must have broken (plus, they were cheap heads replacing what were good quality sprinklers). I called the office, and the woman I spoke to swore that they had come out every other week. I spoke to the owner, and he swore up and down that they had come every other week and insisted the sprinklers were agreed to by me. I told him I had photos with time stamps that proved they did not work on my yard until the week before I returned, and he began yelling and swearing at me (at least I think he was swearing, but he got a little hard to understand). I said I would pay for the one visit but nothing else - paying only for the work they actually did. I sent the payment, then received another bill. I called and said I was not paying the rest, since they did not do the work. I suggested maybe I should report this to the attorney general or registrar of contractors. He said if I reported him to anybody, he would sue me for slander. So, this is what he means when he says he has a great rating - he just threatens anyone who tries to report him.

Anyway, I moved not long after that (transferred out of the country for work). I remained in contact with my old neighbors, who informed me that the owner had been out to my old home at least 6 times. Luckily, the new owners are apparently not home during the day. One neighbor finally ran into him while he was there, and he asked where I was, as the bills he was sending me were being returned and he was there to get what he was owed. She told him I'd moved out of the country, which he apparently did not believe because he went back up and started banging on the door and yelling. She said she went back inside to call the police, but he finally left.
