*** uses publicly-available information from U.SCustoms and Border Protection -- data which is often sold in one form or another by a variety of other data services -- to create profiles of companies around the world. We provide an online search interface that organizes information about
global suppliers to make it easier for people to find international manufacturing partners. Our customers pay for access to this interface. The complainant, *** ***, is not now, and has never been a customer of ***. Occasionally, we are contacted on behalf of companies that are upset to see that their business details are made available to the public via our website. Because we believe that total data transparency promotes efficiency and accountability in global trade, we do not remove business information from the *** website. We have a detailed Transparency Policy which is sent to all parties requesting information removal and I have attached it here, for your reference. This complaint is not from a customer and does not pertain to ***'s provision of product or services. It is a commercial issue between two separate companies in the marketplace. Therefore, we look forward to resolving this matter as soon as possible with The Revdex.com

The complainant, Edson Hong, is not now, nor has he ever been a customer of Panjiva.Panjiva is in the business of making global trade more efficient. As it turns out, the shipping manifest for all shipments entering the U.Sby ocean is considered a matter of public record in this country. Occasionally, U.SCustoms will accidentally post data on a private individual and we republish that data by mistake. Panjiva does not intentionally republish any personally identifying data regarding private individuals. We are interested in publishing information about companies, however because our data is mass-uploaded directly from U.SCustoms, errors sometimes occur. We understand *** ***’s concern, and we removed the personal information from our website immediately after he contacted us on October **, 2014. My subscription was renewed without my authorizationWhen I called they said they tried to contact me times to try to get a renewalSince I did not respond, the called "somebody" in the officeI am the authorized credit card holder, not the "somebody" they say they spoke to in the office
I called for a refund and they said they could not cancel, that the account had been used recentlyI was not aware of when the expiration date wasI assumed it would just stop working since, I did not renew I stated that a prorated refund going forward would be fine, the refusedI asked to speak to a manager and they said he was in a meeting
I have subscribed to this service for years, I did not expect this type of customer service

I am starting a business by doing research on trade routes, but was told that I would full access with my purchase of $300.00 per moth I paid the $300.00 for the month and remember I am a college student on a limited budget so $300.00 per month is not cheap. But however, since I am starting a business I thought it would make sense to see where competitors shipments are being sent from and to check out their monetary value for market research purposes. I went to check the advanced analytics and monetary values of the shipments and only to find out that the advanced analytics package is a lot more money, well Kristin the customer service rep is so disrespectful and classless it is so pathetic. She said in a pathetic email twice with the same thing which make me think it is an automated email which is completely pathetic relating to the fact that I am a college student and politely asked for a refund of $300.00 since I am a college student. I will never be using this company ever again and I don't think any new small business owner on a budget should ever use this company because they are very deceptive with money even though they do not state no refunds anywhere on their website. Well, I will be getting my $300.00 back whether they decide to refund it or whether I file a charge back through my bank so anyone who has this issue should just charge this $300.00 fee back and Kristin he customer service rep should be ashamed of herself and the company can pay the massive charge back fee and also the blemished reputation they will receive because of this review and this deceptive garbage company who will not offer a college student a refund with Kristin and her pathetic automated emails how embarrassing this company should be ashamed of themselves!

Hi there,I see that [redacted] contacted our support team on April [redacted] to request a refund for his subscription, and our system shows that this request was processed on that date.  I apologize if there was any error on our part.  We have reissued a credit of $99 to [redacted]...

original method of payment, and the funds should post to his account within five business days.  Please feel free to contact me directly, should you have any questions at all.   Regards,Nicole S[redacted]Director of OperationsPanjiva, IncDirect: ###-###-####Email: [redacted]

[redacted], Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for being a long time [redacted] customer.  First and foremost, I want to apologize for the way in which your situation was handled by our team, and for any inconvenience this may have caused you.  We strive to provide exceptional...

customer support, and I am sorry to learn that this was not your experience. Clearly something went wrong here, and that was our mistake.   [redacted] subscriptions are set up to automatically renew until a customer cancels, and this is communicated to the customer during the checkout process and in a subsequent confirmation email.  However, we will always honor a cancellation request that is made after a subscription has automatically renewed and issue a full refund if the subscription has not been used. In this case, because your subscription showed consistent use after the renewal date, our representative believed that he was unable to issue you a refund.  Our customer service team is given a set of guidelines that they are supposed to adhere to, however in this instance, your request was not handled appropriately.  I understand your frustration at having made a simple request to speak with a manager—someone who had the authority to fix the problem at hand. We let you down in that regard and for that, I am also sorry. I regret that we provided you with a poor customer service experience - it is the exact opposite of what we pride ourselves on.  We value our customers and understand how important it is to offer exceptional customer service. Our accounting department has processed a full refund in the amount of $1,480, and I can confirm that the funds have been credited back to your original method of payment.  We very much appreciate your business and hope that you will remain a valued customer. If there are any other issues that need to be addressed, now or in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me personally by phone or email.   Sincerely, Nicole S[redacted]Director of Operations[redacted], Inc###-###-####[redacted]

Response:

I am an online business. I do not want my home address made available. I do not want the company I buy from made public. That is no ones business.

Review: This company's website allows persons with a fee to see shipment documents for companies.

My complaint is that they have shipping documents with my suppliers name and my information, that have not touched any port in the USA . My company is not located in the USA, and neither are my suppliers.

There is absolutely no trans-shipment in the USA.

This means they are collecting data that is not allowed.

They stated they can collect that data if the goods touch down on any USA port . So they are violating the privacy act.Desired Settlement: I would like them to stop publishing information that is not allowed.
