Paquette Builders Reviews (6)

I hired them to do my addition after being put on the back burner for months they finally started and it was one prob after another they have very poor workmanship I had leaks in the roof in several places screws in my pipes and they had total disrespect for my property they threw their trash everywhere and smoked cigarettes in my house it was a horrible experience and I hope I can save someone from that

We hired Paquette builders to build us a home. Home was supposed to be done in May 2014. It is now October 2014 and we have hired outside contactors to come in and finish / fix Paquette Builders work> Nothing is right from foundation to the paint on the walls. Mis poured garage floor footings. Used Fiberrock underlayment and painted it for finished siding. front door is ruined. hardwood floors look like 5 years old (all dented, gouged and scratched) Plaster job is absolutely horrible. Granit counter top cracked. two different color shingles used on shed roof. garage door is dented, steel entry door is dented. enclosed porch not attached to home properly. (which he did not pull a permit to build) but all of these things he said were good enough! I have hundreds of "horrific" pictures! Paquette Builders should not be hired to even build a doll house!
Feel free to contact me before hiring this builder.

Quality of workmanship and inability and willingness to take care of the issues, not able to provide the things we were told we would getWe hired Pauquette Builders to build us a new home in March 2014, the home was to be completed by may 24, 2014. They finally finished in November 2014 after having many issues throughout the process. The quality of his work is completely unacceptable. He built us a brand new home (or should I say tried to) It is now January 31st. No one has been back to fix any of the issues! We had a "punch list" at closing of issues they were supposed to come back and take care of and no one ever did! bathroom doors dont close, sliding glass door doesnt close and seal as it is warped and not installed properly. screen door on porch does not close, they tore the screen on the screen porch and did not replace it. home wont heat above 65(combination of being short on BTU and unheated entrance way that is open to the home) ceramic tile falling off the floors in baths, all grout is just crumbling and falling out of bath wall tiles, Kitchen cabinets are not level and they split the faces of them when installing, some of the cabinet doors are warped, they were supposed to come back after closing and repair all kitchen issues and never did, they have dropped away from the soffit they were attached to, they damaged the hardwood floors so they refinished the floors that we initially picked out as pre finished floors because of refinshing them and not removing the baseboards there are now gaps under all of the baseboards. they and left very large gaps when they installed it, they dented the overhead garage door, (they did attempt to fix this) cracked the granite backslpash in the kitchen (also repaired the break, but did not replace it), removed the insulation blanket from the dishwasher when they installed it, alot of the trim they put up was just painted and never even sanded, the shed roof is shingled with two different colors. the house roof was supposed to be brown metal roofing it is galvanized metal roof. the porch was supposed to be stained brown it is green. water leakes in to garage whenever it rains, they were supposed to put cleats on the roof to help with the snow and ice problem, they did not and snow and ice on the roof is a dangerous situation, the attic scuttle door does not close and is all warped, bedroom closet doors do not close or even line up, the painting and plaster job throughout the homes is horrific, the hard wood floors are separating at some of the seems, trim work is sloppy and not mitered neatly. They damaged the finish on the pre finished front door with concrete, it is now a painted door. the landsaping is horrible, not raked out and sloped neatly. the driveway is too low and needs another layer of crushed ashphalt as it has too much of a lip between the garage floor and the driveway making it difficult to drive anything in or out of it.The shed roof was shingled with two different colors, the drip edge on shed roof is all bent up and twisted like it was used, the shed roof shingles do not come out onto the drip edge like it should.. we have outlets that have pulled right out of the wall when you go to unplug things. the didning room light is mis located, outsidelights are not on a switch so you cant turn them on and off as needed. the two heating units are both missing filters, two of smoke detectors are faulty, they never came back and replaced them. two pieces of aluminum trim has falling of from around the door on the porch ( they were never attached just set in to place. I do have 347 digital pictures supporting these issues.Desired SettlementI will get written estimates from outside contractors and seek fulll reimbursement. I do intend to seek an attorney for help and guidance in doing so.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted], ownerContact Phone: XXX XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]I never received a notice directly from the Customer. The house was built with the financer/ partner, [redacted] Prior to closing there were issues of quality that the Customer brought up. Paquette Builders and [redacted] addressed each of these concerns and the Customer accepted the resolution of repairs or replacements. There was a closing and transfer of deed between [redacted] and the Customer that reflected satisfaction of the issues and concerns of the Customer. After the closing there were a couple issues that arose specifically 1) loose grout and a popped tile, 2) cracked cabinet stile and shrinkage between the cabinet and soffit board, 3) issues with the heating system, and 4) slider trimThis was communicated to [redacted] in December. I sent over a tile contractor , [redacted] , and a carpenter to assess the issues with items 1,2,4 and the heating contractor for item 3. Materials were ordered and paid for , for the kitchen, and the tile ccontractor had given us a quote and we accepted it. The heating guy had gone to the house and looked at the system . The carpenter had given us a price on repairing the kitchen and slider. The customer was informed of this through [redacted] agent, [redacted] The first or second week of January I recieved a notice from [redacted] that the cabinet parts have arrived and they wanted to Deliver them. I emailed the customer this information and asked him what a good time for delivery would be. He responded with information that he hired a tile guy and he didn't want the cabinets, he was going to call, his attorney. The customer is not willing to resolve the issues in good faith, otherwise he would have let us render the repairs. He has also engaged in actions that are not in the spirit of professional negotiations toward a resolution. He has created a website : [redacted] . There has surfaced two added complaints from the customer , one being the heating system and the other being the snow guards. The heating contractor emailed the customer this past Friday to stop by and assess the issue . I have not heard if the Customer responded. The snow guards were a question back in November . I purchased them and [redacted] was waiting for an approval on them from the Customer. He was to have the carpenter install them with the other items. There would be a charge for this however as this was not in the contract. In any event , we responded to the customers complaint with the assessments from the contractors, we ordered materials for the repairs , we paid for materials for the repairs, and we tried to deliver the materials for the repairs. The only thing holding us back from rendering the repairs for the customer was the customer. Aside from this we are still willing and able to render the repairs required , and to give the customer more than he bargained for. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)April 15th, 2014 we agreed to purchase [redacted] from Paquette Builders / [redacted] We were told this home would be complete in approximately 6 weeks. We sold our home on May 1st, and agreed to be out on June 1st, 2014. [redacted] St was set to close on May 24th. June 1st ** informed us he would need another month, we then agreed on June 21st. June 21st, home was still not complete. We then agreed on July 24th. My new mortgage commitment had now expired and we worked diligently with the bank to get the mortgage commitment extended until August 15th. On August 14th I discovered the product he used for the exterior siding was [redacted] Fiber rock 1/4" underlayment. I contacted [redacted] they informed me that the product was not suitable for exterior use or on vertical surfaces. After Contacting Oxford building inspector ** finally agrees to remove the product and replace with a suitable product. later I discover that instead removing the old product he just went over the top of it and began painting. They painted the edges of the vinyl windows and doors as well, I then again contacted [redacted] they confirmed that the product need to be removed from the outside of the homeSeptember 9th, 2014 the home was still not complete! At this point my wife is now sleeping on the couch at her sons and I am sleeping on the futon in his home office ( these were our new living arrangements through November 7th) And let me add that we did not close because we wanted to, we HAD to! [redacted] agrees to remove ** from the build and bring in a new contractor ([redacted] Whom we find out later is **'s brother in law and not even a licensed contractor! [redacted] goes through several guys trying to complete this build. They remove both layers of cement board from the home and replace it with all vinyl siding. The hardwood floors were so badly damaged that [redacted] agreed that they should be refinished (as they were not willing to replace them) This was out of pure carelessness on Paquette Builders part. The front door that was previously pre-finished had to be painted because **'s crew spattered concrete all over it and never removed it, and up on me finally trying to remove it the finish was damaged this goes to show the quality of work) They also dented the garage door (** did fix this the best he could, but he should have just replaced it. It was accepted by me, but non the less we now have a brand new home with a dent in the middle of the garage door)quality of his workmanship. [redacted] had guys re-plaster walls and re paint all walls due to **'s poor workmanship. We have had 6 outlets pull right out of the wall when unplugging things since we have closed, the electrician came back and fixed the first ones, but we have recently had 2 more pull out of wall.November 7th, 2014 we finally close with a punch list to be completed immediately upon closing which includedSLIDING GLASS DOOR NOT SEALING TIGHT (door is bowed outward in middle at bottom and at latch side)Upper kitchen cabinets re installed and crown moldingFix kick plates and end corner withtrim that matches cabinetsReplace 3 upper cabinets due to split face panelReplace end panel next to fridgereplace spacer next to dishwasher out of plumbInstall insulate blanket on dishwasherMove dining area light over with a swag style hook so that light can be over center of table (this light is mis located due to improper planning by builder/ electrician.Re do aluminum trim on porch to left of slider it has just falling out because it was never fastenedMain bath tub all scratched up on front sideRe do Attic Scuttle door so that it is recessed painted and looks nice. does not close tight allowing cold in and heat to escape!-Pine ledge on top of half wall is crackedVinyl floor outside laundry room door still needs to be repaired. Both heating units are missing the filtration units. I feel there needs to be some sort of added heat to the entrance area from the garage to correct this. [redacted] has added insulation to the walls around the mud room area. Maybe The main heating unit should be swapped for a multi zone unitNovember 20th it was agreed [redacted] would get this taken care of right after Thanksgiving. ** was made aware of all of this on every occasion. Even though ** was not directly doing the work everything remained being done under **'s contractors license as [redacted] was NOT a licensed builder! Through this Time I left work early to meet [redacted] at the house on several different occasions as he attempted to find a contractor to fix the above issues. Each and every time he informed me he would be in touch, he would then call me to meet him there with another new contractor. (it became obvious to me that they were shopping for price) [redacted] (**'s agent) in the meantime told me that [redacted] would pay the bill if I wanted to find my own contractor. Monday December 15th ** sent a tile guy to repair the tile in bath. The guy showed up at 6pm and said ** sent him to glue down a loose tile.I took him to the bath and showed him all that needed to be done and that the grout in both baths was just disintegrating.. He agreed they need to be completely re done. He stated that he would talk to ** and get back to me.( never to be heard from again) December 23rd [redacted] informs me we may have to find a new contractor as he has no one! He will get back to me. January 4th I contact [redacted] to let him know we have a faulty smoke detector and who's responsibility is it. He tells me ** told him it was the their responsibility and they would take care of it.January 17th we have our 2nd faulty detector. On February 18th we have our 3rd faulty smoke detector. Still nothing. I contact [redacted] myself they have now sent me new ones that I received and installed myself on March 4,2015. On January 6th we sat down with an attorney ([redacted] and hired him to help us move things along.I get an Email from ** on January 14th saying that [redacted] would like to deliver the cabinets tomorrow. I told ** I did not want the cabinets delivered to the house yet, and that I was all set that I would find a contractor on my own!** also informs me on the January 14th that he has contacted the HVAC guy and he will be contacting me to see what he can do to help the heating situation. [redacted] finally called me Friday February 27th asking to come to the house on Saturday the 28th so that he could see where he could possibly add another heating unit. I had prior plans sat. [redacted] did inform me during the conversation that when ** approached him for the heating install he had recommended that each bedroom get a small heat pump unit and the living area get a larger one. He says ** told him to just install 2 units, one in master bedroom and one in living area, so that is what he did. ** says these units are each 18,000 BTU's but they are actually only 15,000 BTU In the meantime [redacted] told me that [redacted] agreed I should just find a contractor myself for the repairs and the Heat, she continuously has told me to get estimates and have the work done and to just send [redacted] the estimates and bills. But where is [redacted]? Where do I send these estimates and bills? Of course based on the past history here I'm not sure that I would ever get reimbursed with out going to court anyhow! On January 8th we hired [redacted] of [redacted] to take care of the bathrooms $3,360 paid for out of my pocket!Since we have closed we have had the following problems:Bathroom doors do not close and or latchMaster bedroom closet doors do stay closedScreen door on porch does not latch or closeHardwood floor as seperated right down the middle and the entire length of the house leaving a 3/16" gapWe have discovered the the bath vanities are made of particle board and the [redacted] agreement states that bath vanities will be a solid maple cabinet. The [redacted] agreement states that the roof will be of 26 Gauge steel [redacted] (supplier) has confirmed that the roof is only 29 Gauge they also suggested I verify that ** used atleast a 30# felt under the entire roofAs to the website I created [redacted]) yes, I certainly did, and rightfully so, people need to know what they are getting into if they hire this guy! Someone needs to do something! To date I have had 271 viewers to my website! In **'s reply he states that aside from all of this he will still give the customer (me) more then I bargained for! I ALREADY GOT MORE THEN I BARGAINED FOR TRUST ME!!!Final Business Response Hi [redacted] Thank you for your patience. Mr. [redacted] has agreed to have us do the repairs at his home . Last month we have insulated the bathroom ceilings, and repaired the scuttle . In the last few weeks we have replaced the rear gutter, some fascia aluminum, repaired the kitchen cabinets, excavated the exterior of two sections of foundation and repaired the crack in the foundation and applied added waterproofing , and have straightened the jambs on the sliding glass door so it closes tightly. We still have a couple items outstanding but believe those will be worked out as well. Thank you,[redacted]Paquette Builders [redacted]Cell (XXX)XXX-XXXXFax (XXX)XXX-XXXXFinal Consumer Response Thank you for that [redacted]. He has not done anything this week. The things he had said he would do this week did not get done. I am hopeful that he will start working again next week. We do also have a new issue I am now waiting for him to address an that is that we have discovered that the septic tank is leaking and needs to be replaced. His communication with me is not the greatest, so I'm not sure where we stand with that issue.I met with my attorney 2 weeks ago, he initially suggested that I just tell ** to stop and file suit. I told him ** seemed to now be willing to take care of at least some of the issues. My attorney suggested I give ** until 5/31/2015 to resolve all issues and whatever is not resolved come June 1 we go to court to resolve. So that is what we are doing and ** is well aware. He has been working on the home as he has indicated. We do still have issues up in the air that he is supposed to be working in a resolution for, and they are as follows:1) Heating issue has not been resolved yet. Waiting for ** to approve the work I will forward you the email from [redacted] chosen heat guy) 2) the slider is still not right ** says they were unable to actually replace the slider like he said he was because they could not get the old door out. ( in my opinion this is unacceptable as a sliding glass door is not a permanent life time door and needs to be able to be replaced at some point)3) the master bath door does not close and has not been addressed yet. 4) the garage floor needs to be cut out at over head door and re poured. ** has agreed but has not been done yet. 5) bathroom vanities And roof are both not what where agreed on in the purchase and sale agreement. Both are of lesser value than what he was supposed to use for material. 6) hardwood floor issue has not been addressed. 7) I have not been reimbursed for the tile work I had to have re done ($3200)- I did give ** what I considered to be a fair and reasonable offer for times 5,6 and 7. In exchange for those items I suggested that he could could finish off the lower level room that I was to do at a later date. He says that is a possibility and that he will let me know by the end of the month. 8) this is a new issue that arose over the weekend. I discovered that the septic tank is less then 1/2 full indicating that the tank has a breach in it somewhere and is leaking into the ground. This is now obviously a VERY major concern for me! ** is supposed to come look at this tonight he is also supposed to once again look at the sliding door scenario.Enjoy the day,[redacted]
