Paradise Chapel of the Pines Mortuary Reviews (1)

Review: My mother passed away in January 2014, I gave her information over the phone to expedite the cremation. They incorrectly filled out the death certificate, which required an ammendment and an affidavit. I still have not received the corrected version, I am unable to settle my mother's affairs. I called every week and today when I called again, the elderly owner yelled at me, told me he can't do anything, and then hung up on me. The handling of my mother's death by this mortuary has been absolutely inacceptable and their customer service even more deplorable.Desired Settlement: I would like them to follow up with the state coroner and help me to expedite receiving the corrected and ammended copy of my mother's death certificate. They have dropped the ball and should be doing everything possible to resolve this matter, especially since this all stems from them incorrectly filling out the death certificate in the first place.

Response:

In response to complaint # [redacted], we have been working to remedy the situation since February. Anytime information is given over the phone instead of in person, errors can occur. We also had to deal with another county 100 miles away. The errors on the certificate were unfortunate but correctable. The problem is that the state of California processes thousands of certificates each day through Sacramento and therefore cannot offer tracking services on out going business mailed to individual entities. We sent the correction request with check, $ 210.00, and waited the normal four weeks. The check was cashed so we expected them to show up. They didn’t. Those are sensitive documents. , we started a search process to locate them. That takes additional time. This has happened in the past, and usually the receiving mortuary can figure out where they go. Obviously many funeral homes have similar names and the postal service is not error free. It’s worth noting that a typo error in the middle name should not have stopped the originals from being used in most cases. Also, we used the deceased address on the original to save [redacted] $400.00. The cemetery charges that fee for any interment of a non-resident of Paradise, even though she was a resident previously. We used the address of her home, which see stills owns, to qualify her and save money for our client. If you add up the charges for the first set, the second lost set, and the current replacement set of certificates, it totals over $630.00 dollars, $420.00 of it on us. We apologize for being short with her, it was frustrating on our end as well, given we have no way of finding the missing set. We can only hope that this last set arrives as it should. It should be there in 7 to 10 days.
