Review: This company ran the Parafest 2013 convention. First, there is a statement on their site saying that within 2 weeks of the event, no refunds would be granted. That is typical of these events, and there are usually occasional cancellations by celebrity guests. In this case, there were 6 stated cancellations, mostly announced within that 2 week period. When I say announced, I mean that they updated their website on the guest section to indicate they are unavailable, but the advertising pictures still indicate the celebrity guests are coming. You needed to go into the specific guest area to figure out the guest was no longer coming and if you didn't do this, then you would not know about the cancellations. Secondly, at conventions, they hire professional photographers to take pictures of you with the guests and within a few days of the convention, three to be exact, the photographers cancelled with no replacement. With many guests this is the only way to obtain a picture with the celebrity. Thirdly, there were people advertised that were not cancelled, but clearly were not part of the convention as there was no table set up for them. In addition, there were MULTIPLE tables in which guests were supposed to be present at and they were not. We checked several times during the event and the guests were never there. Also, from a customer service standpoint, there was a [redacted] page set up, but when any questions they did not want to answer were posed, the comment would get deleted. Then they blocked me from the page so I could not ask, like or comment on anything else. They did have an email, however they would pick and choose what questions they would answer and typically the response time was unacceptable. Finally, I am handicapped and needed someone to push my wheelchair, when inquiring about a complimentary ticket for my assistant, it took them days to respond to my inquiry at which time they agreed to comp one ticket, however I already bought tickets and they have yet to respond about the refund.Desired Settlement: At the very least the ticket price for my assistant should be refunded and the ticket price was 25.00. Also, since so many celebrity guests did not show up and so many were cancelled, the second ticket price should be refunded. Total refund 50.00. There are many conventions of this type and guest cancellations are typical, but not this many in the last week. I also want this on file for others to see so potential guests for the next convention will be forewarned.

September 27,2013 RE: [redacted]

Dear Representative of Revdex.com,

I am writing in response to a complaint you received from a [redacted] on September 8, 2013.

Paradox Entertainment LLC is an event planning company. Paradox had put on an event the weekend of September 6. 7 and 8. It was called Parafest 2013. It was held in [redacted], PA- We started selling tickets in January 2013 through our website www. Parafest2013,com, You had an option to purchase tickets through [redacted] or [redacted] direct. The event is considered a convention which is set up with vendors that are selling merchandise from booths and stars/talent that are there to sell their autographs to their fans. Specifically at our event we highlighted Paranormal and Horror stars, since it was a Paranormal-Horror convention.

We had been working on “hiring” the talent to come to our event almost 1 to 1 years before the event. The talent does sign a contract with us, however, can cancel due to scheduling conflicts. Some stars receive offers for movies that we can not force them to pass up to come to our event. When we heard about the cancellations from themselves or their agents, we posted it as soon as we could on our Facebook, twitter and website pages, [redacted] and [redacted] were the first to cancel their appearance at our event. The next was the Comic Book [redacted]: and [redacted], As I stated, it is not in our control if they needed to cancel due to other offers they received. Believe me; being the company, we lost money as well-from: these cancellations, We had paid for airfare, car services and hotels, We had tried to replace these talents with other talents as soon as we could. The last minute we had added [redacted] from [redacted], and [redacted]. The guests were listed on our main page of our website. Out of 100 talents and 6 cancelled, 2 of which cancelled within the week of the event; which we replaced with 2 other talents last minute.

There is a company called [redacted] that offered to do take pictures with the fans and the stars. This company is generally at all the conventions so the stars are very familiar with them. The way [redacted] works is that they had a link on our website for fans to schedule and pay for slots to get their pictures taken with, the select stars. [redacted] received the money direct not Paradox Entertainment. LLC. Around the week of August 26, [redacted] contacted us to inform us that the presales were not high enough for them to fly out from Chicago and they had to cancel this. They were to inform all the people that purchased times for pictures and refund their money directly.

In this situation, we had reached out to the agents of the talents to find out how they would like to handle the pictures of their talent. They all agreed that each talent will allow the fan to use their own camera to take a picture with them for a fee. The fees were all different depending on the star.

We had each the talent in different sections of the event. We held it in the [redacted] Event Center where they hold concert and the [redacted] Casino using 5 of their conference rooms. We had volunteers in bright safety green t-shirts to help with any questions. The only star that was publicized that would not be there until Saturday was [redacted] from [redacted]. All other talents each had a table or booth set up for them. Each talent had schedules. We had special Q&A panels, and meet and greets for the fans that purchased that ticket level were able to attends These were scheduled for 1/2 hour to an hour long. These talents are there to make money and know that they are to be at their booths or tables to meet their fans. These are talents that attend these conventions all the time.

I agree **. [redacted] emailed our main email address, asking about & complimentary ticket for her assistant to help push her around. I do not have a copy of the email, however, I did offer her a complimentary ticket for her assistant and she responded that she had already purchased one for them. We had posted on our website Refunds will not be given within 2 weeks of the event. Since **, [redacted] had already purchased her ticket I could not offer her a refund.

As I mentioned, I had volunteers and staff around on the event floor, if **. [redacted] would have asked a volunteer or asked to speak with someone at the time that she was there, I would had resolved these issues immediately. I would have asked her which talent she was here to see and personally would'“have escorted her to see them. I am very sorry that her experience wasn’t the best, however, out of 2800 people this is the only complaint we received. You can go onto our face: book which is Paradox Entertainment LLC and Twitter to seethe comments.

I would like to offer **. [redacted] some merchandise;; . I- can mail her 2 t-shirts, 2 flashlights, 2 tote bags and 2 keep sake programs for her inconveniences,

Sincerely,

Paradox Entertainment LLC

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because I am not looking for free merchandise. I want the incident made public and on file which is why my complaint was filed. I am not the only complaint. I saw complaints posted on the [redacted] site and they were quickly DELETED. My son and I were both blocked from posting on the site because we asked about refunds. I am an avid goer of horror conventions and have attended [redacted] and the [redacted] so I know what to expect. I expect there to be celebrity cancellations as that happens with all conventions, but my problem is the high number of cancellations and (6 in 100 is NOT representative of the celebrities at the event- vendors and sales people are not considered celebrities) the short time frame in which they occurred (within a few weeks of the convention) made it appear unusual. Also with the guests, they are correct in saying 6 were announced as

not coming (mostly announced within the 2 week time frame in which refunds won't be issued), however, [redacted] did not show up, [redacted]

and [redacted] were not there on Friday and there were others as

well. Also, I am aware that the celebrities were in multiple rooms and did not need assistance finding them. Many of the tables were completely empty or staffed with just a "handler". In addition, there were many empty non-celebrity tables. Those were not as big of a deal, but it added to the aggravation. As far as the customer service, there was inconsistency in the response time and in some cases, my emails remain unanswered to this day. The original email was sent about the limited mobility and the possible complimentary ticket on 8/20 and no one responded until 8/27. The email was directed to [redacted] and was responded to by: [redacted]. 9/4 I sent an email asking about refunds since major celebrities were cancelled shortly before the scheduled event. This is a really piss poor way to handle a convention and customer service. At this point I don't believe the organization can do anything to resolve the issue so please just keep it on file for others to see.
