Park Furniture Store Reviews (7)

We apologize for the delivery delay. That definitely was our fault. However, we cannot give this customer a mattress that costs double what she purchased. I'm sure that she tried the first one out before buying it $800 for the Bellagio mattress box spring is a very good price Thedifference would...

then be $380 + tax. Thank you.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Yes, the repair people were very good, when they came to fix the furniture they said they have never seen new furniture by [redacted] with this many problems, they said they did what they could.  At first it did seem that it was repaired, the couch is put together with "L" brackets to re-affix the arm to the frame (couch was about 6-7 months old, this is normal??), The recliner they replaced the whole bottom mechanism, they did not add any padding to either the couch cushion nor the recliner cushion.   The recliner seemed OK, but very hard to open and close.  It is again leaning to the left and it still is very hard to open and close plus it makes a lot of noise and there are times it springs open by itself.  We are not trying to give anyone a hard time just want it fixed so we do not have to worry about it any longer.  Their last reply said if there were problems they would deal with them, well there are still problems to deal with. [redacted]

To Whom it May Concern,The parts were ordered for this customer and they are in. We are ready to schedule a time with the customer to go out and fix this furniture. As far as the floor model, the customer was given a discount to take the floor model at the time of purchase.Thank you,Travis M[redacted]...

Revdex.com: Can we upgrade it to a power recliner, as we originally wanted?   I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is some what satisfactory to me with the following stipulation: That the warranty be extended an additional 6 months in case the furniture breaks down again in such a short period of time.  Also please note that we were never told that we were buying the floor model nor did we receive discounted prices (see my attached letter) We did request a power recliner due to my husbands disability and were told it was not available, [redacted] does in fact sell it and it is available.

Review: I received a flier in the mail for previous customers of Park Furniture of a special going out of business (at this location) sale for July 7 & 8th (sales to the public would begin after 8/8/16). I told the salesman "Chuck" what I was looking for (mattress, box spring & recliner) & we went across the street where the mattress' were shown). I gave him specific information off of my current mattress' tag & stated that I wanted the exact same thing (info off of tag: Starlite -ptl, border only, innersp mattress, order # [redacted], Symbol Mattress, Reading, PA). I told him that if he had any questions that I was sure he could look it up from my original purchase from Park in 12/2010. He told me "no problem, we have those in stock". I laid on a mattress that Chuck said would be comparable, it seemed fine (looked almost identical to what I had) & we then proceeded back across the street to look at recliners. I paid via check for my mattress, box spring & recliner 7/8/16 & was told by "Chuck" that I would be contacted next week to arrange delivery. I heard nothing from Park & finally called them on 7/21/16. I was told "that there was no reason why someone should not have already contacted me to schedule a delivery". He took my information & said he would have dispatch call me to set up a time for delivery tomorrow as she has left for the day (as I was not expecting a problem, I did not ask for a name). I again heard nothing from the store & called them again 7/26/16 at 2:20pm, asked to speak to a manager as I was still waiting for my furniture to be delivered. I was told that the manager was with a customer & would be calling me back. The manager's name should be "John". At 2:47pm "John" returned my call & said delivery was scheduled for Friday 7/29/16 & that they would call the day before with the approximate delivery time. John also stated that they only call 2 days ahead of scheduled delivery & do not call in advance asking when it would be convenient for the customer. I told John that after returning from buying the furniture that my building has arrangements with our hauler to dispose of old furniture & if the delivery men could put it by our dumpsters, could I get my $ 40.00 hauling fee refunded? I was called John said he was making a note in the account & that it would be no problem. 7/28/16 I was told that the truck had prior deliveries the next day in [redacted] & then would be coming to deliver my furniture. The dispatch lady said it should be around 10am 7/29/16. 7/29/16 9:48am Dispatch called & said "I'm sorry but the truck with your bed hasn't arrived at the store yet - do you want us to deliver just the chair"? I said NO, that I wanted everything! & I had already gone ahead & removed everything from my bed! The dispatch lady said she would call me back as soon as the truck with my bedding arrived at the store. As yet again I have heard nothing from Park, I called them again on Tuesday 8/2/16 to get an update on my delivery & received no answer. I left a message that I was STILL Waiting for Delivery & for the manager to call me! "Ryan left me a message & at 4:38p I returned his call, however Ryan was busy & would call back. At 5:15pm Ryan called & said my delivery was scheduled for Monday 8/8/16 (1 month to the day I bought & paid for the furniture). Someone will call Friday with an approx. delivery time & if not, please contact the store. 8/5/16 I was called & was told delivery would be Monday 8/8/16 between 8am & 12 noon. I asked why my delivery was scheduled when they didn't even have my mattress & box spring in stock? Ryan stated that "they oversold the amount of bedding in stock". 8/8/16 delivery was late & around 12:20 they arrived with the furniture. They took my old mattress, box spring & recliner & put them out by the dumpsters. As my bedroom is small, I was not able to look over the bedding before the delivery people left. When I did get to look it over, I discovered that what I was given was VASTLY Different from what I had originally bought! My previous mattress had a 3-4" memory foam (or so I was told by the owner on the original sale) on top of an innerspring mattress, all enclosed in one unit. What was delivered is a thin 1" memory foam sewed on to an innerspring mattress. I immediately called the store & asked to speak to the manager as I was VERY UNHAPPY with my delivery"! At 1:19pm I spoke with "Rick" who said "Chuck (original salesman) was out for a while), however he could help me. After retelling Rick what has gone on to this point, Rick said that Park hasn't carried Symbol mattresses for "a while" & that there was no way that Chuck should have promised that they could had my exact model in stock. Rick said I was to come down "any time in the next week" to replacement selection. He said the hours were from 10am - 7pm. I went down Wednesday 8/10 & found a CLOSED sign on the door stating that they were restocking & would reopen 8/11. I am handicapped due to a back injury as a Paramedic & use crutches to walk. I am in chronic pain which escalates when I'm on my feet. Seeing 8/10 was part of "next week" Rick should have known better. I returned to the store 8/11 in the afternoon to pick out a replacement. The salesman did not have on a name tag. We went over across the street to the mattresses & he confirmed that Park stopped handling Symbol in 2011 & that the original salesman Chuck lied to me when he said that he had them in stock. He also said that Chuck had been fired for poor performance. The owner Mr. M[redacted] (spelling may not be correct) was calling Symbol Mattress to see what the internal make up of the mattress I had previously bought was. He told the salesman that only the Belligio line would be comparable, The salesman showed me 2 & that either would have to be ordered as none were in stock. He said delivery would be free & I said "no kidding" & that you will haul the current one I am using away for free too! The Belligio Plush top was the one I liked & we then returned to the main store. The mattress that I tried out when I was originally with Chuck was no longer in the show room.

I was told that I would need to pay an additional $ 380.00 to get the mattress or they could give me my money back & what did I want to do? I stated that it took them an entire month to deliver my furniture. I stated that my original mattress & box spring were already GONE & that there is no way to get them back because of their errors! They then again stated that it would be an additional $ 380.00 to get the replacement or refund my money (which would not come CLOSE to replacing my original mattress & box spring). I told them that I needed several days to think this whole thing over & to put the replacement agreement in writing. While they were doing this, I was approached by different salesman that had heard what I had gone through With "we're sorry", "this isn't how we operate here", "we were busy with the sale" - to all I responded NO - NONE of this was MY FAULT!Desired Settlement: I want a replacement Belligio Plush Full (or the VALUE OF AN EXACT REPLACEMENT) for my old mattress & box spring (not the value Chuck wrote on the sales slip). I want them delivered & the old ones hauled away for free. Not just one of the "remaining mattresses" they have in stock as this has taken almost a month & a half at this point. I want to have the option of accepting the Furniture Protection Package that is stated that "Customer Declined" on their printed copy. After I got home on 8/11, I saw that note; this appears no where on my hand written copy nor was I ever offered the protection package by Chuck during the original sale! Seeing that this is a power recliner, if the protection package covers the electronics, I want to know the terms/price. I also would like to know what the recliner is made out of. Chuck told me it is microfiber, but I'm suspicious that it is leather & need care instructions. I would like to have the exact make up of my original mattress & the replacement mattress in writing so I can compare them to be sure that they are alike (because now, trust is gone). I also want my refund of $ 40.00 of the hauling fee that was cancelled. After all that has happened & all of it being Park Furniture's fault; seeing that my old mattress had approx. 1.5 yrs life left in it & was told by Chuck that with the replacement I was "getting SUCH A GREAT DEAL". I do not think that this is to much to ask to finally resolve this nightmare.

Review: Prior to 03/17/2016 I contacted [redacted] the manufacturer of the furniture to complain about the recliner tilting to the extreme left and making loud clicking noises when using the lever to recline and to raise or lower the footrest and that the lever is very hard to use, plus the cushions and arm rest are sinking on the recliner and sofa. I was told to call the furniture store as they are responsible for the repair. On 03/17/2016 I called and spoke to Carl and explained the problems we were experiencing and he said he would speak to the delivery men who would stop out and check out the furniture and let us know when they will be at our home to do so. NEVER HEARD BACK.

On 04/02/2016 I e-mailed him via their website, (sorry do not have actual

message just a "thank you for contacting us" message) AGAIN NO RESPONSE. On 04/12/2016 I again contacted [redacted] to advise them that I following their instructions and contacted Park Furniture twice and receive no response. NO RESPONSE FROM [redacted] So again on 04/19/2016 contacted [redacted] again that we are being ignored and being senior citizens we cannot afford to let this go. Told them that we bought the furniture on 09/25/2015 but delivered on 10/08/2015. Don't know where else to turn for help, will file with the PA Attorney General also.

Would like my furniture repaired or replaced. Do not want a repair job that is shoddy or not up to "new furniture" standards. Actually would like the recliner replaced with a power recliner that we asked if we could purchase back in September 2015 but was told no, not available, find out it was available but they did not want to order, gave us the floor model. The only floor model being sold was the love seat which we did not buy, we were under the assumption that our furniture was new not floor models.

I believe that well over a month is sufficient time to expect a response.Desired Settlement: Would like my furniture repaired or replaced.
