Mr*** did not address the main point of my claim that he and his company did not do proper field underwriting in my case. He has already admitted to getting lazy about this in his email to the underwriter. If he had done this properly we would have known before I went to the states for the exam that I did not qualify due to the underwriter's residency requirements. Instead of addressing this fact he again, as he has in his mails to me and the underwriter bragged about having been the president of an insurance company and having years of experience. These have no meaning in this case. You would think that having been the president of an insurance company and having years of experience he would know the need to do proper field underwriting.
It is true that they said they could arrange the exam whenever I was going back, but I also mentioned to Ms*** that I didn't actually have plans and decided to make a special trip there for this insurance rather than wait until I was another year older and thus have to pay a larger premiumThe "bottom line" is that I did spend a lot of time and money on this after being told that if my health was good I should have no problem getting insured. The "bottom line" is that Mr***'s company should have known that I did not qualify for this insurance since I had lived outside the states for so long. The question of my residency came up during the application process and was glossed over by Ms*** and an answer given to the underwriter before I was even asked about it. Her advice was to just say I would return in a few years and that it wasn't a binding statementAnd this is what really took place... I don't honestly expect Mr*** to admit his mistake, even though he has admitted laziness in writing, and I don't really expect a favorable outcome for me in this process, but at least by getting it into a public form like the Revdex.com when others are considering using Mr***'s business and search for information about it online they will be able to find this complain and make sure they don't have the same expensive, time wasting experience I had
Thank you

Mr***’s complaint is completely baseless let me go over the points regarding the transactionsans-serif;">I was the president of the Far East for a large NYSE financial services firm based in Hong Kong. When that operation was closed, I realized that there were many American ex*** executives overseas who needed assistance with their insurance program and decided to help them. ***, as you can imagine, this is not a profitable venture because it takes lots of time and effort on our part and the insurance policies are small in terms of premiums generated and I’ve thought about closing the operation because it costs me money to maintain the operation. But I guess, after spending over years in this profession, it is tough for me to, just, pull the plug!Let me go over the incidence mentionedHe contacted us regarding acquiring some term insurance in August, Americans in Japan are very tough to insured because there is, maybe, only one company that is willing to look at a caseThe insurance company requires that the insurance physical exam take place in USAWe have the ability to send an insurance physician examiner to any location in the USA so we tell the prospective client to inform us when they plan to be in the USA for personal or business reasonMr*** told us on August that he planned to be visiting someone in Lake Zurich near Chicago around November of last year so we set up an insurance physical for him. We would NEVER tell anyone to go out of their way and spend money to take the physical exam! We have NEVER had an occasion where the client went out of their way to take a physical because we have the ability to send an examiner anywhere they will beAs insurance intermediary we do not have the authority to bind or commit an insurance company to take on the riskIt is the company’s decision solelyAfter much review, and two telephone conversations by me to the company on the client’s behalf, the insurance company declined to issue a policy based on the fact that Mr*** has resided in Japan for years and did not have any concrete plans to return to the USA.Bottom line is that the only one to spend any money on this transaction is the insurance company who paid for the physical examOf course both the insurance company and my company spent lots of time with no remuneration whatsoever.I hope this gives you a better picture of what really took place. Please feel free to contact me if I can provide any more information.Regards,***

I have reviewed Mr***'s latest emailWe do not have any authority to make a decision on whether an insurance application is accepted or declined although we do our best to get a favorable decision from the underwriter and, I guess, in this area my self depreciating comment about my laziness falls into that areaWe do not have the authority to promise anyone that if their health is good they will be insuredWe have not have one situation where one of our clients spent money to come to the USA for an insurance physicalWe wait till the client comes to USA for their own reasons and send the examiner to where they are. When we are approached by internet and all transaction is done by email then there is no or very little field underwriting. Regards,***

Review: I contacted Mr. [redacted]'s company in a search for international life insurance for Americans living overseas. I was assured by Ms. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] that they could handle this and began the application process. During the process I was told at one point that the underwriter had questioned the length of time I had already lived overseas and if I was actually going to return to the states. Ms. [redacted] replied to the underwriter that I planned to return in 3 or 4 years, then informed me and told me that it was just stating an intention and that it didn't mean I actually had to return. The process then continued and I was assured that as long as my health was good there would be no problem. I was required to travel to the U.S. to do the health check required and made a trip to the U.S. specifically to do the required examination. The examination was completed and no problems were noted.A week or 10 days later I received word from Mr. [redacted] that my application was decided because I had lived outside the U.S. too long and they didn't have confidence that I would actually return. I was applying for international life insurance and made that clear to Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted]. I told them I didn't know if I would return or not, thus the request for an international policy. In the follow up email between Mr. [redacted] and the underwriter Mr. [redacted] states that "Perhaps, in my laziness, I did not review this particular case.. we try to do proper field underwriting but maybe started taking things for granted."Now, Mr. [redacted]'s "laziness" has cost me the expense of a trip from Japan top the U.S. to do an exam for an insurance policy that I had no chance of obtaining do to the underwriter's physical presences requirements. Mr.[redacted] should have known I would not be eligible for this insurance and thus saved me the cost of the tri as well as all the time wasted.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the cost of my trip to the U.S. I spent approximately $1,500 that I should not have had to spend if the field underwriting had been done properly.
