Review: Walked into store on 4/16/2013 in afternoon had some jewlery I wanted get rid the guy working at moment tried offer me 100 for all my jewlery I said no I said just for Ring along worth that much he took another look he said he'd offer me 20.00 for diamonds in Ring so I said 120 for all my jewlery?? He said yes I still said no, he looked at my ring and necklace with diamonds and said 125 pulse ill give you 20.00 for diamonds in ring and 20.00 for diamonds in necklace and for rest my jewlery. I said I will sell u just ring and necklace for 125.00 pulse 40.00 for diamonds so all together 165.00. He said I can do that so he gave me back rest my jewlery well at least I thought. He handed me money and I walked out. I get not even 5 blocks realizing he ripped me off only gave me 125.00 and kept some my other jewlery that I said I wouldn't sell I called shop no one answered so I turned around by time got there the guy I had verbal transaction with was gone and there was new guy, I explained mix up on the money and the jewlery he took that I said I wouldn't sell he said he didn't know what to do called owner handed me phone talk to him I explained situation he said he would hold on jewlery and he said he remembered me and situation and to come back next day and he would pay me and give me back jewlery. So got off phone asked the guy that was working at moment if I could get receipts he said printer broken I said ok can I have the written one than he sid no. I felt that was odd and lil sketchy why can't I get my recipe it has what we agreed on. So I came back next day. The owner was there I explained he pulled out his hand written receipt that was suppose be one from 4/16. Well it wasn't it was completely different written out and not to amount we agreed on, I felt he threw it away rewrote what he wanted to rip me off. And on. Top that that my jewlery was not held on to it go melted.so not only did I get ripped off my jewlery was melted so I cannot even get it back. Worst exppirience ever.Desired Settlement: I want my jewlery back and diamonds but since he told me he melted it even though he said he wouldnt day before, I want something of same value. And my 40.00 dollars for diamonds if not want diamonds back. And I have recipes for the jewlery that was melted. So no trying rip me off this time

Re: [redacted]

I have enclosed my receipt of Ms. [redacted]'s transaction here at the store for you to view. I wish to convey inaccuracies with Ms. [redacted]'s complaint in relation to what actually happened to clear my reputation of any wrongdoing or 'sketchy' practice as was indicated.

In Ms. [redacted]'s complaint she is right about coming in on the 16th of April. She did put all of her jewelry on the table and I assessed the price at $101.07 based on current market value at the time. Two pieces of her jewelry had diamonds but they were small, so I said that I would throw in an extra $20.00 to cover the value of the diamonds. I wasn't even sure if I could get $20.00 in return for the diamonds because I have just opened up my diamond market and am still getting used to what diamonds are worth and what I should be paying for them. Based on what I have been told to this point, $20.00 seemed reasonable for what she had. This, along with the price of the metal, came to a total of $121.07 on my receipt but I said to her that I would do this deal for $125.00 to round out the deal and make her feel better about it. She did accept my offer with the omission of a small 14k necklace piece which I did agree to give back (you can see all items in the picture provided). I paid her the $125.00 but the small necklace piece did not get returned to her for whatever reason. She was gone already when this was discovered, so I set it aside and figured she would come back for it.

She did come back later in the same day when my shift was over and my partner was working. I got a call from him while she was back in the store. She had complaints about prices that I did not understand as we had already concluded our agreement. My partner did not have any knowledge of the transaction because there was nothing to know, except I should have told him about the necklace piece in case she came back during his shift, which she did. I did talk directly to her on his phone and told her to come by any time during my shift and she agreed.

She came back the next day and I showed her the receipt of her transaction with her and went over the numbers so she can understand why my appraisal of her metal was what I said it was. She complained that I did not pay her for the diamonds but it was easy to see that I did. She began to cry and then suggested that she never should have done the deal in the first place. This may be true, I don't know her life situation, but this does in no way nullify the agreement that we made.

She asked for her jewelry back, and in most cases this would be easy to do, but she just happen to catch me as I just made a run to the refinery (we are a scrap metal recycling business for precious metal) so her material is no longer here or available.

Now her accusations are quite sharp against me and I have thick skin, but most of what she said about the situation is simply not true. For instance, I have NO IDEA where she got the idea that I was going to pay her $165.00.1 lose $20.00 on that deal if I agree to 6.02 grams of 14k, why would I do that? The fact is she agreed to my assessment of her metals. She gave me her ID to document her receipt (enclosed with letter). She walked out of my establishment with the exact amount of money that we both agreed to (she verifies this within her complaint). I cannot help her if she has 'buyer's remorse' over her deal to me. I assume each and every person who walks into my shop knows and understands the ramifications of their actions. If they sell their metal to a metal recycler, they are NOT going to see it again.

Your letter provided an email to Ms. [redacted] and I did send her a letter in response to her complaint. I come from a family where we take care of our own problems. I understand you are a mediator in this situation but I would not feel respect if I did not attempt a solution directly. In my letter I only spelled out exactly how the figure of $125.00 was assessed. I also will give you a copy of this letter in case she claims something inaccurate about something within my letter.

There are a number of more inaccuracies within the letter of complaint but I don't really care to fine tooth comb the issue. I am well received by everyone who comes into the shop and I treat everyone friendly and I give them the best deal that I can. I hope to be in business for 50 years and I will never do anything to purposefully put that goal in jeopardy. I do not really know the exact resolution to the upset of Ms. [redacted] as I have already overpaid her for the metal that she has recycled. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for your time.
