P&B Heating and Air Conditioning Reviews (2)

Review: P&B installed a ruud air conditioning in December 2012. This was a replacement from super storm sandy. P&B came to my home several weeks ago to test the system for summer use. At that time P&B informed me that the system was not working and the coil was not holding the freeon and that they would replace it at cost for 650.00 to get the air conditioning going. I have the message left by P&B at they would do the work including confirmation of the cost. Recently I have placed several calls to P&B to get the work completed. I am now being told by P&B that they have other customers and they are unable to complete the job. I have asked for date in July, August or September but their response is they are too busy. It's unit is under warranty with P&B Heating and Air Conditioning. Other contractors don't want to touch it. Between Hurricane Sandy (2013)and Hurricane Irene 2012, I have paid P&B Heating and Air Conditioning almost $10,000.00. I can not afford to compromise my warranty to the unit by having other hvacs work on the unit. I would like for them to complete the work that they started and committed to complete.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to complete the work which they started. I have a verbal commitment from them to complete the work. Other hvacs don't want to touch the unit. This compromises the warranty to the unit. The unit is brand new and never used. I just need for them to complete the work.

Response:

We have received and reviewed [redacted]’s complaint regarding our company P&B Heating and Air Conditioning. We understand that [redacted] requests that we repair the coil, as we had advised her of twice, once in November of 2012 as well as May of 2013.

On November [redacted], 2012 we installed a new furnace and a condenser for a total cost of $6,500. Prior to this install, we advised [redacted] that she should also replace the coil, as it encountered damage during Super Storm Sandy, to which she declined. We advised that the cost to replace this equipment would be $1,500, however we would replace it for just $650 in addition to the $6,500. [redacted] still declined to have the coil replaced, and we proceeded to complete the installation of just the furnace and condenser. On May [redacted], 2013 we visited [redacted]’s home to start-up her unit, and upon inspection, we advised [redacted] that her unit was not working properly due to the damaged coil, and it would need to be replaced. At that time, [redacted] still did not wish to have this work completed. We had received a phone call from [redacted] sometime in late June, requesting for us to replace this damaged coil, and we explained that we were not able to accommodate her with an ap pointment, as this was now the height of our busy season, and we could not fit her into our scheduling.

The warranties on the parts we had replaced can be picked up by any company, so [redacted] will not be compromising any warranties by having another company work on the unit. We will not be completing any additional work for [redacted]. If any additional information is needed, please feel free to contact our office at ###-###-####.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Upon the initial installation in 2012 P&B advised that the air condition unit and furnace had to be replaced which they quoted 6500.00. At no time did they nor myself discuss anything about a defective coil. In May 2013 when they scheduled a system check before summer season, that they informed [redacted] of the coil replacement. I was not home, at the time. I also did not have the monies, for I am retired and on a fixed income. I first went through my oil company because they referred me to P&B, which the owner also spoke with [redacted] at P&B regarding the coil replacement. On may *, 2012 [redacted] left me a message advising me the replacement and the cost of 650.00. I still have that message on my voice mail. In late June, I contacted P&B and after numerous calls is when they advised me that they were too busy to do the job. I honestly feel they don't want to complete the job because of the cost factor. Most contractors have advised me to have P&B complete the job because the cost would be much more. I have been quoted 1500.00 for the coil replacement.
