Plante's Sealcoating

On June 30, 2013 we contratcted with Plante's Sealcoating seal out driveway. On July 17, 2013 the driveway was seal coated, and at the time we were very happy with the service he provided. When we called for a quote he arrived within two days to provide us with that. Soon after the driveway was completed and it looked great. Mr Plant told us the driveway shouldn't have to be resealed until 2017. This spring we noticed the seal coat on the driveway was not holding up and in some spots it appeared to have worn off. We contacted Mr. Plants approximately 5-6 weeks ago. He was very polite and apologetic stating it might have been a problem with the batch of coating that was used. He assured us he would come and look at our driveway when he was in the area. Two weeks went by and we had not seen or heard for him. We called again and left a message. He returned our call assuring us he did not forget about us and he would come look at the driveway the following week. Two weeks went by again with no word from Mr. Plante. On Saturday June 26, 2014 we called and spoke with Mr. Plante's [redacted] and [redacted] assured us [redacted] would give him the message and we should hear from him. We feel we have been more than patient with Mr. Plante. We paid $411.00 to seal coat 2418 sq feet. We do believe the product that he used was defective. Whether Mr. Plants knew this or not we do not know. We do know when a driveway has seal coating applied it should last more than 9 months. We would appreciate Mr. Plante coming to our home, as promised, to examine the driveway and to see if we can come to an agreement as to what should be done to rectify this problem. We think the driveway should be re-coated. We had hoped to be able to work with Mr. Plante though we feel we have bben patient long enough. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.Desired SettlementTo reseal the driveway at no cost to usFinal Consumer Response Mr. Plante finally stopped by on 08/10/2014 and agreed it look as though the sealcoat had failed in spots. He also blamed the "oils from the oak trees". He told us he would be willing to return and powerwash the driveway with Dawn Detergent for $100.00 to rid it of these oils, and to reseal for a cost of $200.00. When asked what guarantee he would provide that the sealcoat would last this time he simply said he could not. I do not want to pay this disreputable person one more cent of our hard earned money! He should stand behind his work and do this at no cost to us!
