Public Storage- ALL LOCATIONS Reviews (12)

August 28, - Sunday.............We have been renting from this Public Storage on John Young Parkway for over years, since January 2013........We rented a Climate Controlled Unit #(10' x10') and #(10' x 30') (across from each other)....we recently purchased a new house and moved out of Unit with NO ISSUES...when we started to move out of #313, there was FECES AND URINE and WHITE HAIR everywhere!!!...It was DISGUSTING!......it was ALL OVER our Boxes, Blankets, Furniture, Mattresses, Boxsprings, Clothing, Sofas, etc.....I have over photos to share...Bugs were crawling out of sealed boxes too!.......We notified public storage at XXX-XXX-XXXX from their website and all you get are prompts, NOT a live person...so I went to their "contact us" section on the website and emailed them....I got a response from Jahaira [redacted] - Manager...she called me on Monday August 22, at 4:00pm...I told her the WHOLE story and she asked me if I had any food in my unit? I told her "NO"....what it would store food in a storage unit?.....anyway I asked her for her email because I wanted her to SEE the photos that I took so I emailed her on Monday and NEVER heard back from her....Tuesday went by....Wednesday went by....and then Thursday came and I called her and left a message at 1:40pm August 25, 2016...she NEVER called me back...I told her "ok I will be contacting Channel News and contacting an Attorney" (in my voicemail to her).....so I went to the website again and selected "contact us" again and wrote a more detailed message....now Jahaira's boss, Laurie [redacted] XXX-XXX-XXXX ext [redacted] called me back.....I told HER the whole story (again).....Laurie told me that she has NEVER had a complaint of this happening.....(which I find very hard to believe)and she stated that since I did not purchase Public Storage's Insurance the units are rented "at your own risk"...Actually EVERYBODY I spoke to at Public Storage: Jorge and Souhay at the Front Desk, Jahaira (Manger) and Laurie (Manager's Boss) ALL told me they have NEVER had a complaint like this........?!?!?!......I was extremely upset stating that we pay $a month to rent storage units (which is another issue paying THAT MUCH MONEY , only to have our personal belongings damaged?????)....so basically there is NOTHING that Public Storage can do....so you are telling me if this has NEVER happened before and I am SHOWING you ALL THE PHOTOS that you are NOT willing to help us?.............I would have bent over backwards to help the customer because obviously something was wrong with THAT UNIT!!!.........then when we finally moved everything out, and poop was falling off of everything (I'm not lying)...it was so gross.....there was what looked like a NEST in the corner...the Movers actually said "that is a NEST and something was living in here"..........OMG WHAT???????......My husband and I are SO UPSET over this............and what bothers us the most is that our 10' x 10' unit was fine...NO ISSUES....so I was hoping that Public Storage would work with us KNOWING that there was an issue with this OTHER unit.....but they did NOT offer any help or assistance....I was told that unfortunately people DO put food in their storage units and there is NO WAY for the Facility to check what was it in the units....so if my neighbors have FOOD in THEIR units then I HAVE TO SUFFER????........then when we vacated the unit, I called the front desk at 11:19am from INSIDE THE UNIT to give them a heads up that we were finished and it was cleaned out...nobody answered the phone so I left a message.....when I went to the front desk I told Jorge that I just called and he said "we were busy with a customer"..........they were people working up front, neither of them could have picked up the phone???......anyway as I was checking out waiting for my vacant slip, Jorge had deactivated my account BEFORE my husband and the Movers drove through the gate!...I thought that was terrible.....Jorge could have waited another minute....my husband was right outside the front office, you could literally look to the left and SEE that he and the big moving truck was just sitting there trying to get out......my husband was entering the code over and over to get out.......just seemed very rude to me.....anyway, we do NOT recommend this facility AT ALL!!!!......THE PROOF IS IN MY PHOTOS!!!!....We ended up throwing out our Queen and King Boxspring, Memory Foam Queen Mattress Topper, Blankets, Towels, Clothing, 8xArea Rug (that was loaded with urine!), our furniture had to be scrubbed, our sofas and mattrresses now have to be steam cleaned (hoping that works)NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS!!!!!!........If you want to email me directly, please email me at [redacted] @att.net [redacted] and [redacted] in Cocoa, Florida

DO NOT USE this companyfour months into your rental they change your rate by 25%!!

HORRIBLE Business PracticesUnfair rate hikesSnarky, rude, and arrogant employeesThe absolute worst - do not rent from this locationWe have not had our unit for 6-months and Public Storage located at: EIndustrial Ave Boynton Beach, FL raised the rent ~20+% (percent) citing operating and maintenance expensesReally? The place is DIRTY, FILTHY and smells horribleI've seen bugs and creatures crawling around and I'm terrified my property might be damaged or infested when I vacateSo, what maintenance cost are they referring to? IT'S THIS LOCATION THAT'S HORRIBLEI rented years back from another Public Storage in CT for years and the rate never changeThat facility in CT was pristine, beautiful and clean - and the rate never changedThis is disgusting and just bad management and greedy money hungry thieve running this placeJust so you know, this was formerly another storage facility that was shut down - hmmI wonder why? Whatever you do, DO NOT rent from this location, they're are plenty of other places in the area that are really clean, nice employees and you won't get robedJust my experience hope it helps!!

I was fine with me being late and getting assessed a $fee one because it fair because I was told about it before hand and two because I received notification via email of all pending changeThe part that bothered me most was this week when I had planned on settling that bill (with the fee was $43) current ($94) I was in complete shock and disguistI was never notified, and the had added another $to my bill and only decided $was worth crediting
Although I am pending disability now my bill has always been paid befnow....that had not been consideredI needed my mother to take care of the complete balance due to my financial changeShe came to New Jersey and to our suprise a $had skyrocketed without noticeAnd what the lady at the office had to say was they can do that and they wont credit the biggest fee backHorrible! Regrettable to even have rented from Public Storage all because of a promo never againI wish they would have just credited the $back that they just added days prior they claimed

We had our furniture and personal belongings at the Public Storage on Holland Road in Virginia Beach, Va it was the worse experience we've ever had with a storage facility. Due to financial hardship we had to place our wordly possessions for two years in that dump. We recently moved our items out and put them in [redacted] Storage [redacted] for a more feasible amount and a much cleanier facility. We had to throw away so many items that had mold from water damage in the unit. We had ants and spider infestation. Mice droppings were all over floor inside the unit when we moved out as well as on our mattresses and the tops of the boxes with our clothes. It was actually a dead rat outside of the unit next door to ours when we were vacating the premises. Last year when my husband's clothes that were inside a box taped was damaged from the water damage. The insulation inside the unit had fallen down so it was no protection from the outside elements. I went into the office and spoke to the Manager to explain what had happened as well as proof of the damage to the clothing. She assessed the damage and gave me information to contact the insurance company to file a claim. I was disgusted to realize that after we'd received the paperwork to file the claim that they wanted us to provide receipts for the clothing some of which was purchased some time ago. So, we took a loss because who actually keeps receipts from clothing after its worn after a year? What was the sense of having insurance if the unsurance company makes it so hard to file a claim. This business needs to be penalized for having the units kept in such a manner.

Rudest people there are. I don't like giving bad reviews, but this place was just plain rude to a paying customer. A man named Charles was working and he doesn't like younger people at all and I'm in my 20's.

I pulled in the to parking lot at 5:45pm. Traffic was really bad or I would've been there a lot earlier. I walk up to the door and it's already locked. It says right on the door that they close at 6pm! I knock on the door and he answers with not a hello or any thing nice to say. He says, "What do you want?". I told him that I registered online for everything and just need to pay. He said that it would take 10 mins to set me up and that he was going to leave right at 6pm if I was set up or not. He then proceeded to make fun of younger people because they can't call back when someone calls. The thing is that I called him back after I got off of work to let him know I was on my way, but he wouldn't answer himself.

After all of that hassle and being put down by someone that doesn't even know me, I'm never going to do business with them again. I'm a paying customer. I don't care how much you hate young people or maybe just me, but I still should be treated with the same respect that I treated him with.

DO NOT USE this company. four months into your rental they change your rate by 25%!!

They are crooks! They must be paying Revdex.com on the side to say Public Storage has no complaints that are not resolved!

They double charged me, cut my lock off, wouldnt let me in my storage because they said I owed a past due amount when it was only the 5th, not even charged a late fee yet, but they charged me "a month in advance!" I asked to take off the insurance they tricked me into buying and she said not til I pay the rest of the amount due WHICH WASNT EVEN DUE YET!

A very poor experience. I called to file a complaint at the corporate office on the facility I store my belongings at and I was cut off yelled at and hung up on. I was told if I didn't like the service to get my things and move them. Not very good customer service.

I wish I had checked reviews before signing up with this company...
I saw an offer for $1 monthly storage and reserved a unit. I went in to sign papers. When I arrived she was sweet and chatty. I asked if she sold locks and she said they had the cylinder locks that were required for their facility, to which I remarked it was a good thing I had not wasted money on a padlock at the store and she agreed. Then during the paper signing she had highlighted a spot requiring my signature to take an $11/mo minimum insurance. I asked if I had to have that insurance since I have separate insurance and she said "Yes, which is why I highlighted the cheapest one - that's what most people take". She kept chatting and I kept signing. At the end it was not the $25 the website said ($1 for 1st months rent and $24 "admin fee") but $55.99 because of the 'required' lock for $19 and the insurance.
Then I went home and read all the paperwork. On the sheets that we had just stuck in the stack because I didn't need to sign them were the points that insurance is "recommended" but not required, and that we are to provide whatever lock we feel is sufficient to secure our unit... She lied. Boldly, with a smile. So I stopped payment on the charge and went back and confronted her. She backpedaled on the insurance 'requirement' stating that "Oh if you have your own insurance that is fine", but continued to insist that the $19 lock was required because "that's the kind of locks we have on our units". I told her that we should just quietly terminate and she said OK and called her DM Mike and together they did a "same day vacate" and did reverse the charge to my card. I assume he asked her about my reasons because she said "Something like that" - not sure, but suspect, this is business as usual for them and occasionally it backfires...but apparently not enough to make them change to doing business honestly.
