This company borders on fraudulent
It is impossible to communicate with them, and when you do they are rude and have vague reasons for claim denial
They forward you to so many different extensions that you give up, and don't even consider waiting for a call back from them, it won't happen unless you're a new victim
I have changed my insurance carrier and am contacting my state insurance commissioner

This business does not return phone calls. They block callers. They do not have good contractors. They do not pay quickly at all. They only had one contractor in my area. They couldn't do the job. Took 12 days for an adjuster to show up. Beware if you have them for your home owners insurance change as soon as you can to anyone else.

QBE is the most disorganized unprofessional organization who change their policy and procedures every chance they can. Never do they follow through or try to go any extra mile to help the consumer who doesn't even have them as their insurance company. Seterus has QBE for their hazard insurance. However, if by chance you have your insurance impounded as well as got sold off to Seterus because of being some were down the line Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. RUN RUN RUN. Our home was flooded April **, 20**. Our actual insurance company was amazing in quick response. Unfortunately since our impounded insurance issue. This gave Seterus/QBE our insurance money for them to sign off to us. NOPE. It's December **, 2015. Unable to get our money not to mention the 3 liens against our property that this company by law should have stopped this process. Mind you they change their procedures as well as the face that our real insurance company got all information from us yet QBE after the fact of having to open up a claim didn't send necessary documents needed to avoid liens. HELLO. Not surprised this has been a financial hardship but they could care less. Can't get any manager ever let alone the head of this corporation's name or connection. HUH, Wonder why? They are getting interest you know that's for sure. Despite the ** that an employee might try to cover their [redacted]....HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE

I am not happy with this home owner's policy nor the representatives. If I could afford to change and for my mortgage to increase, I would drop them and not recommend  them to anyone.

I am writing to express my concerns, disgust, and heartbreak over a recent incident that left my family helpless with no one to turn to. On the morning of June [redacted], 2016, my wife and I were shocked to find our basement flooded with several inches of water. After calling our family plumber, it was discovered that our sewage line that ran through the basement eroded and cracked, spilling sewage into our finished basement. All of our furniture and most of our belongings stored down there were ruined.
After our immediate concerns about getting our 5 month old son out of the house, we worried about the next obvious thing – “How much is this all going to cost us – how are we going to afford this.” We were extremely upset, but knew we had insurance for times of crisis like this one. I called QBE during the afternoon of June [redacted] to put the claim in. To my astonishment, the representative stated that we were in a coverage lapse, for our mortgage company failed to pay our annual premium on time. Confusion and panic took over me, but I was quickly put at ease when the representative assured me things would be taken care of. I was instructed by the representative to have our mortgage company send payment overnight, so our coverage could be reinstated and the claim processed. Our mortgage company contacted QBE, and sent payment via overnight delivery. After a crazy day, we slept well knowing we were in good hands, unaware that things would spiral out of control the next day.
The next morning, June [redacted], we met a restorative company and plumber at our house. We also needed to get clothes and personal belongings, for we would not be able to stay at our house with our 5 month old son. Still upset about the damage that was caused; we were relieved to see how quickly the pipe was being repaired and the basement being cleaned. I then received a call from another QBE representative. This call was different than the prior calls I had with representatives.
I was informed that our policy could not be reinstated and that the claim would not be covered. Since we had a claim during a lapse in coverage, it is QBE policy that we would not be allowed to be reinstated. My heart sank, and I was in complete disbelief and confusion. “How could this be?” “We had no idea about the lapse in coverage – it was not our fault that there was an issue with payment from the mortgage company.” We were informed that QBE had also sent multiple invoices regarding a $12.00 payment for a change to the policy, in addition to notices to both the mortgage company and us about the coverage being dropped. We had not received any of these notices. We certainly would have paid a $12.00 charge. It turns out that QBE had our old billing address on file. Despite having our current home and address on the insurance policy, and changing the address through Progressive, all of the notices were going to our prior address. Nothing was sent electronically – no calls made. If our mortgage company paid the invoice on time, it would have included the outstanding $12.00 change.
After many emotional conversations with representatives from QBE, we realized we were on our own. “We legally did everything we had to and are not required to reinstate your policy.” -QBE representative. I explained the conversations I had with prior representatives, and that they assured me the policy would be reinstated. The last rep we spoke to informed us that the prior reps did not know what they were talking about, and once the annual premium payment was received from the mortgage company, it would have been denied by the underwriter’s anyway.
We feel like we were hit by a bus – completely blindsided. My wife and I have never felt so hopeless and confused. We had no idea our coverage was not renewed. We were dropped on May [redacted] and this claim was June [redacted]. Everything just spiraled out of control, and we are left without any support, with part of our home and many personal belongings destroyed. We trust our insurance companies to support us in times of crisis. You found a way out of paying a claim, and immediately took it. I really question your company’s judgment and moral compass. I work in an industry that heavily relies on policies and procedures as its guiding principles in decision making. I can understand that you are following your policy and you legally have no obligation to support us, but there are always opportunities to make decisions outside of those policies to right a situation. Is there no room for compassion in this extremely competitive business world? You contradict your company’s slogan “…..w[redacted] [redacted]" No, you did all you could to find a way to say no. “[redacted]” You found an opportunity to get out of paying money, and took it, leaving your customers, a father, mother, and infant child helpless and unsure how to pay for the major damages incurred to their home. I am absolutely disgusted this is how a company runs its business. I will be sharing our story through many media avenues, and will let as many people know how we were treated in this situation. I will be writing to Progressive Insurance Company as well, to let them know this is how QBE does business.
I appreciate your time to listen about my situation. I never believed this is how insurance companies treated their customers until I witness it firsthand.

I spoke to the offending employee's supervisor, but was offered no solution.  Company continues to be in violation of Oregon insurance law.
