Quality Automotive Repair Reviews (1)

Review: We had our car serviced at Quality Automotive Repair. They explained in detail what needed to be done in order to replace the timing belt and the costs in doing so. They did a full inspection before and after the repairs. We had to have the timing belt replaced...this had to be done by removing the trasmission and therefore the labor costs were high. We paid around $1000 for parts and labor. We were pleased with the customer service and repair. But A few weeks later the check engine light came on and we took it back in to have them check it out. They did not do an inspection. They reset the check engine light and said everything was fine that sometimes that happens. But right after that with no warning lights or noises.....the transmission went out on the freeway and we had to have it towed back to Westmont College. There was no signs of transmission issues before this timing belt repair and transmission removal. When the check engine light went back on after the service repair the shop did not check anything out to be sure no damage or issues were going on.Desired Settlement: I would like the car repaired to working condition. Without cost to us since we tried to repair it and follow up when lights went on.

Response:

As Stated by the Business. We serviced the car, and this car does not have a timing belt. It has a timing chain, so that was not replaced. We needed to replace the timing chain guides, and that was done. There is no problem with the transmission. Customers car is here now, and the clutch has gone out!

I am rejecting this response because:

Regards,

The car was brought in with the check engine light going off again and it was just reset. We told them that it drove incorrect and had issues switching gears. The clutch went out but not just the clutch......much more since it wasn't caught in time When the problem started to show.

Business

Response:

As stated by the Business. The transmission was not the problem. The clutch disc, and flywheel had broken. True we did do a bumper to bumper inspection, but it was a visual inspection of normal wear and tear (brakes-spark plugs, pressure tested for leaks, smoked for emission leaks, check wear on engine, and transmission mounts, tire pressure, tire wear, ball joints, tie rods, stabilizer function. Clutch parts, and flywheel there is no visual way of check without removing in which case we would of had to charge the labor rate of removing the clutch. Again there was no transmission problem up to this point, and the customer did come back and we had the work done for the clutch.
