This matter cannot be resolved. Their offer in inadaquate.I hope the Revdex.com can do something so that the business will not be able to fraudulently induce consumers to hire them. Their  business card says they are contractors that are "licensed and insured; its van says they are contractors that are "licensed and insured"; the business expressed that it was licensed and insured; the business did an inferior job and the business did not even show up when they were supposed to remedy their defective work. The business is NOT licensed and the business is NOT insured. The business violated the NYC Administrative Code as well as the General Business Law of the State of New York. I hope consumers like myself and senior citizens like myself will be protected by your agency. The business should not be allowed to conduct themselves in this manner. Thank you for your efforts.

Review: In May, 2014 I hired the company by [redacted] to paint, prime, compound and remove wallpaper in various parts of the inside and outside of my house. [redacted] represented that he was licensed, fully insured and would do a full and complete job. He signed a contract detailing the work to be done and the payment schedule. On or about May **, 2014 (after most of the work was done) I made the final payment to [redacted] with the understanding that he was going to come back in a couple of days to do some additional work and go over any defects I observed. Once [redacted] was fully paid he did not come back as he promised. Numerous phone calls over a two month period went completely unanswered. It was only after I sent a threatening email (to contact the DCA) on July **, 2014 that he responded. He claimed he had some personal problems and he could not deal with any work related matters for those two months. Not even a phone call.He finally came over on or about September *, 2014 to correct some of the substandard work he performed. He did some compounding on that date and was to come back a couple of days later. [redacted] did not return as he promised and has totally ignored my phone calls and emails. The walls and ceiling where he compounded are entirely discolored. I am left with other walls and ceilings which are unfinished, cracked and discolored among other items.I have asked [redacted] orally and in writing on numerous occasions for his contractors license and insurance information as he represented orally and on his business card. He has consistently refused to address these requests.Desired Settlement: To Be reimbursed for the incomplete work and damage that I will have to hire another to do/repair- Approximately $1,250.00To be reimbursed for for the carpets to be cleaned from the paint drippings- approximately $400.00.

Response:

In May of 2014, my company was hired to perform mostly interior painting on the interior of [redacted]’ home. There was also some work to be performed on the exterior of the house. The total cost of the work was $3,925.00. At the conclusion of my work, I was paid in full. Subsequently, [redacted] called me and stated that he located two very small holes on the walls. I returned to [redacted]’ home and compounded over those holes. I informed [redacted] that I had to allow time for the compound to dry and would return to repaint those compounded areas in order to match the color of the walls. [redacted] also had questions regarding structural cracks and seams in the wall. I explained that the seams were the result of an underlying Sheetrock issue and that I would have to repair the Sheetrock underneath in order to provide a permanent solution. He was satisfied with that information and informed me that such a task was not ne cessary. At this point, the only work left to perform would take approximately twenty (20) minutes.Admittedly, because of personal issues, I was unable to return to [redacted]’ house to repaint the compounded walls. However, prior to [redacted] filing this complaint, I reached out to [redacted] and offered to completely repaint the compounded walls so that every paint color is matched. Moreover, I have offered to attempt to repair the seams that [redacted] complained of by compounding over those seams and repainting those walls. Please understand that the latter offer was never part of the original contract and this extra work was offered as a courtesy and as an attempt to leave a customer satisfied. I have offered this to [redacted] on multiple occasions and he has ignored my requests by continuing to threaten me with various agencies in exchange for me paying him over $1,500.

Response:

[redacted], I have discussed the referenced complaint with my client. Once again, after [redacted] was paid in full at 100% completion, [redacted] was extremely pleased with the work that was performed. However, subsequently, [redacted] received a phone call regarding three (3) small areas that [redacted] wanted compounded and re-painted. The areas were located in the Master bedroom, office, and on the ceiling by the front door, respectively. [redacted] returned to compound those holes leaving three (3) areas approximately 4 inches by 4 inches that required paint to match the existing walls. This is the only work that is left to be done and would require approximately twenty (20) minutes of labor.

[redacted] offer to settle this dispute is for $2,000. The entire cost of the project was $4,000 and to pay 50% of the original invoice for less than 1% of the work that is left is completely unreasonable. Although offers have been made to complete this work himself, [redacted] is also prepared to make the following monetary offer:

Paint - $50

Paint the areas were affected (4 inches x 4 Inches) – Labor $100

Given the supplies and the work that is required to be performed, this offer of $150.00 is more than generous. Quality Painting was never shown any alleged damage to the carpet until [redacted] began threating legal action and complaints to agencies.

Please let me know if you need any other information or would like to discuss.
