I have been having supplier problems from many of my UK business suppliers since the middle of last yearEven though they require full payment of any order up front, they are not always responsive to filling the order once they have your moneyThey currently quote lead times of weeks or more -

[redacted] of Quantum Mechanics has issued me a full refund, including a little extra for all the trouble.  He truly is a man of integrity.  Please advise me as to what further action I need to take to close this complaint.

[redacted] - James Fairclough - I finally was able to send him the last part for his order in February. This closes out this order/complaint

Review: I placed an order for the transmission on 10/07/2013. The received a deposit on the same day. I was told I would receive the transmission in 2 weeks . I have contacted the owner on numerous occasions, left multiple messages, and have even gone as far as contacting the business next to him in order to contact him. When I have talked to him I have been told he would keep me updated by I have not heard from him. This has been going on for over a month.Desired Settlement: I would like the transmission ASAP.

9838495 - Owen Mullininx - I sent them their transmission in February. They have paid their bill in full to me, less some agreed charges. This closes out this order/complaint.

Review: I purchased by credit card, a complete 5 speed transmission replacement kit for my [redacted] in the beginning of March and was told that the transmission would be ready by the end of March. Acting on that information, I had my car towed to [redacted] the last week of March. They had agreed to actually perform the work of replacing the transmission. Starting near the end of March, [redacted] at Quantum assured me it would be ready the following week. I have basically received the same answer every week since, until two weeks ago when [redacted] stopped answering the phone altogether. I have left numerous messages and have recieved no response. [redacted] are very unhappy as my car has been taking up space in their shop for close to two months while I have been attempting to contact [redacted]. I have read the other complaints against Quantum and there seems to be a pattern here. I am a very understanding person and up until now I have been very patient. However, the one thing I cannot abide is Quantum Mechanics' total failure to make any effort to answer my calls or messages, or to attempt to contact me. I am a small business owner myself, and find their lack of concern for their customers extremely unprofessional.Desired Settlement: Either deliver my complete transmission kit NOW, or give me my money back NOW.

I have been having supplier problems from many of my UK business suppliers since the middle of last year. Even though they require full payment of any order up front, they are not always responsive to filling the order once they have your money. They currently quote lead times of 16 weeks or more - once payment has been received. I have sometimes waited for over 6 months for some items - after they were paid for! To try to get around this problem I always have parts on order, but sometimes even that does not work out to reduce their longer than what we consider normal lead times. The kit was finally delivered at the beginning of July to [redacted]. I believe the project has been completed by them. I apologize to the customer for the delay. Some items are out of my control, but I do take full responsibility for the delay. I have learned from this and other supplier delays to give my customers longer lead time quotes in the future. Review: On March 4, 2013, I ordered a transmission kit and paid half the total balance. I was told I would recieve it in 4-5 weeks. Towards the end of April they called and said most of my parts are ready and I can pay the remaining balance. On May 6 I recieved 2/3 of my kit. They said they were waiting on a couple more things and would ship them when they arrived. I called once or twice in the beginning of June and was told I should recieve my parts within two weeks. When that did'nt happen I called back many times over several weeks only to get an answering machine. I left a few messages and have still not gotten any reply or the remainder of my transmission kit.

Product_Or_Service: 5 speed transmission conversion kit

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

My parts delivered is mainly what I want. I live on the opposite side of the country from this buisness, I cannot drive over there to make a complaint in person. Since my only contact is by telephone, and that has not been in several weeks, I feel a public complaint is my only option.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2013/07/19) */

My customer ordered a transmission conversion kit and paid for it in good faith in March. I took the order since I was told by my supplier that the balance of parts I needed for the kit were in stock in his warehouse in Europe.I sent out the transmission and driveshaft immediately as that is what I had in actual stock. I was told by my suppliers that all remaining parts for the kit were in stock at the time. I have been waiting for 4 months for the parts from them. I have contacted them numerous times to check the status of the parts, but received no reply. In desperation I escalated it to their senior management. I finally actually got most of the parts the second week of July from them. I immediately sent the balance of the parts to the customer. I still owe him one part which is on the way to me from the European community as we speak. I should be able to send that part to him by express shipment next week. That should complete his order. I normally don't work this way, but have been at the mercy of my European suppliers for the last 6 months. I am working on sourcing these parts in the USA to avoid these problems in the future. I apologize to my customer for these delays. [redacted], owner, Quantum mechanics Ltd.

Consumer Response /* (-5, 11, 2013/07/22) */

I was finally contacted and informed of the status of my order, and later received the majority of my order. I understand that business overseas is a drawn out process, but what I was most concerned with was when communications with Quantum Mechanics stopped for several weeks. I had no idea what was going on.

Review: On July 2, 2013, I ordered and paid for an MGB 5-speed transmission conversion kit. Cost was $3,100 including shipping. On September 20, two boxes shipped. Between July and September, I have left many unanswered voice mails asking for the status of my order. When the boxes arrived, the order was incomplete, missing the actual transmission component of the the order.October 2, the third box ships containing the transmission. Again, phone calls were made, with no answer to the call or the messages left.October 23, I send off another email regarding a missing "modified shift lever", because Quantum Mechanics apparently never answers their phone or returns calls.I finally get to talk to John about the shift lever, to which he tells me that he is having a problem with the supplier in Europe, but that he will get back with me in a week with an update. That update never occurred. In addition to the dozens of phone messages I have left for the owner, John, I sent emails requested an update and resolutions on 10/25, 11/15, 11/22, 12/17, 1/8, and 1/16.I have voice my frustration, as well as my understanding of things out of his control due to his supplier. I have been patient, even when he refuses to communicate with me, a paying customer.I have given his company $3,100 and here I am 6 months later, with a car that can not be driven.Desired Settlement: The desired solution is for me to receive the missing part. Without it, the kit is useless, which would mean having to take the engine and transmission out of my car and the finding another kit to install. If he cannot get the part, and I have to get it directly from his supplier, then I would like the contact information, and a refund on the expenses I incur.Short of that, I would request a full refund of the $3,100.

Review: I sent [redacted] of Quantum Mechanics $1000 on January 24, 2014, as a down payment on a 5-speed transmission conversion kit for my [redacted]. The balance due was to be $975 plus shipping, and I was promised I'd have my kit in 4-6 weeks. That never happened, but I was very patient and gave [redacted] the benefit of the doubt when he said he was having problems getting the parts from his supplier. [redacted] has never taken the initiative to contact me and update me on the delays, which I would certainly expect any good businessman holding $1000 of my money to do at least occasionally. Numerous emails have gone unanswered, and always with an excuse when I was lucky enough to reach him by phone. I last spoke with him on June 10th, when he told me he had everything but the rear cross member, and promised to ship all of those parts. It's been over a week since that conversation, and over four months since I sent him the initial $1000, and still no parts. Now when I call his number, I simply get messages saying his voice mail box is full. I've been more patient about this than any businessman should have the right to expect, but now I'm worried I'm going to get burned.Desired Settlement: I want all my parts sent to me. I've already waited over four months, and don't want to go back to Square One waiting for another supplier to start all over again.
