Review: I was legally parked in a parking lot next to a spot reserved for [redacted] and this company towed my car. They over charged me (according to the police) and propositioned me for what seemed to be sexual favors. His remark was If you gave no many what can you do for me? He offered to drive me home to get more money.Desired Settlement: A refund for my $217.75 .

Review: On 9/**/2013 I parked in the Fresh Meadows parking lot outsite [redacted]'s at approx 12:30pm. I went quickly across the street to a store, and was back at my car within 5 minutes. My intent was to then patronize the drug store that is served by the parking lot. A tow truck was backed up to my car, but the driver was still inside his truck and had not begun the process of picking up or towing my car. The driver would not move his truck until I paid the tow fine of $125 plus tax for a total of $136.09, using a credit card. Subsequent research on my part indicates that because I returned to my vehicle before any towing or lifting could take place, the fee should considerably less. Legally, the tow company can only charge $125 if they actually remove the car from the location. Although I understand I probably should not have parked in the lot without immediately entering one of the stores served by the lot, the appearance of the tow truck within 5 minutes seems egregious and completely beyond reason.Desired Settlement: Ideally, I would like a 100% refund. At the very least, I should receive a refund that reflects the difference between what I was forced to pay and what I should legally have been charged - about half the amount.

Sincerely,

Review: On Nov. ** 2013, I parked my car in a private parking lot near [redacted]. I proceeded to enter a business that has an adjoining wall with the parking lot, but upon reaching the door, I noticed a sign posted in the window that if I parked in the lot my car could be towed. I immediately turned around to remove me car, when I noticed a tow truck operated by Quick 2 racing into the lot.The truck immediately backed up with me standing less than two feet from my car and lifted it up. At that point I was puzzled, and asked the tow truck driver what he was doing. He replied that he was "doing me a favor" and started to drive off with my car. I then stood in front of the truck, then sat on the hood of the truck until [redacted] arrived. They had no jurisdiction in this matter since it was on the NYC side of the border, so they called the NYPD.After ~2 hours, the NYPD advised me to pay a fee of $62.00 plus tax to drop my car off the tow, and challenge the legality of the tow in civil court. I paid in cash in front of the police and received a receipt. The tow company violated Title 19 of the Administrative Code of NYC Section 19-169.1(c)......by removing a vehicle from a parking lot without written authorization from the parking lot owner. On the tow receipt, the time called and the time towed were left blank. The tow truck could not have gotten permission to tow in the 10 to 20 seconds I parked my car in the lot. After this traumatic event was over, the tow truck left, and parked about 100 yards from the lot to resume waiting for another victim. This is a scam....a way to get money out of car operators. I took a photograph of the tow truck laying in waiting in proximity of the parking lot. They should do the honorable thing and return my money for such a diabolical plot.Desired Settlement: I want my hard earned money back. I also want the owner of the parking lot at [redacted] to the tow company Quick 2 Towing & Recovery to stop this practice of illegally removing cars using this quick strike tactic.I want the Department of Consumer Affairs to investigate this matter, and if possible file charges against the tow company.

Review: This company, Quick 2, is conducting FRAUD AND SCAM.

In a parking lot that is between the dunkin donut and several shops, I parked my car for less than a minute in order to purchase both dunking donut coffee and bread from the Korean bakery Koryodang. The moment I walked into the Korean Bakery, the tow truck (waiting at the corner of parking lot) came immediately and towed my car because he assumes that I am not a dunkin donut customer. The warning sign (for towing) at the parking lot was extremely small and high up(similar to a letter size). IT IS DESIGNED NOT TO LET PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION TO IT, a clever deception.

The towing worker COERCED me to pay, or else he would tow my car to his garage until I pay off. This thing happened within less than 5 min. After I was coerced to pay, I witnessed another lady’s car got towed immediately again. Similarly, it happened within less than 3 minutes.

Dunkin Donut does not put a sign on the wall in front of the car where you park, instead, it puts at the entrance high up so no one can see. The tow truck is waiting at the corner waiting for its prey. It’s a BAIT and SWITCH. It is possible that Dunkin Donut and Quick 2 are sharing commission on this. THIS IS A SCAM AND A CON!Desired Settlement: I wish the City can investigate this kind of Bait and Switch Practice.

Review: I was sitting in my car while it was started and two people in the tow truck came from behind and towed my car, demanding $100 cash or else I would be responsible for paying $300. The fact that I was sitting in my car while started, ready to leave, is enough evidence that there was no reason to tow my car.Desired Settlement: I am seeking a full $100 refund from the two gentlemen who work for Quick 2 Towing.

Review: My fiancee' and I feel that we were scammed by Quick 2 Towing and Recovery of [redacted]. On 2/*/15, we were meeting a group of people at the [redacted] on [redacted] and [redacted] in [redacted] county after a graveside funeral of a friend. The parking lot of the diner was full so we went next door and parked in front of a small strip center. We walked 50 feet to the diner and saw on the diner door a sign that said cars parked next door will be towed in the lot we parked in. We went inside for 30 seconds to let the people we were meeting know that we were going to move our car.I left to move my car and a tow truck was there already and had lifted up my car. This all transpired in 3 or 4 minutes at most. I asked them nicely to put the car down. "That I just saw the sign at the diner and came to move my car" They refused to put my car down. Then I said "put my car down" to which they responded "what are you going to do about it." I told them that they should do the humane thing and that we just came from a funeral. They said you should have read the sign and have to pay the fine of $125 plus tax. I said we didn't see the sign in the parking lot. When you pull into the parking lot you do not see a sign. Yes, we did see the sign once they pointed it out. After arguing heatedly with them and their refusing to put my car down, we paid the fine. I drove around the block and saw that they were parked across the street at the corner waiting for the next car to come along to tow. They saw my car and drove off. The only way they could have gotten to my car and lifted it so quickly was by waiting there on the corner to pray on parkers. This to us is a scam to earn money on a slow [redacted]. I don't like to see us or anyone scammed in this way.Desired Settlement: I would like to get our money back and see better signs posted at this parking lot. I also would like to see them loss their license for towing. DCA Lic #[redacted] US Dot: [redacted]

Review: On 6-**-14, I was a victim of towing fraud by this company. I parked my car at a parking lot at [redacted] to make a purchase from a local vendor. When I got back to my car literally 1-2 minutes later, I noticed two men approaching my car with a towing truck. I jumped in as they backed their tow truck into my car and lifted its wheels with its engine on and me inside. While I was still in my car, the men threatened to call the police and tow my car if I did not unlock my car door, get out and pay them $135. While there was a sign outside the establishment that stated that parking was for the stores in that establishment and the violators would be towed, I had made a purchase from an authorized vendor of that parking lot. I have a receipt. Any discourse with the two men was futile.

When I got out of my car, they broke into it and removed the keys from its ignition switch without my permission. Throughout this encounter, they intimidated and threatened me numerous times so for my own safety, I gave them my credit card and license.Desired Settlement: I will be disputing this charge. The charge was not authorized. These people are thieves who need to have their license revoked and be taken off the streets ASAP.

Review: On 03/**/2015, I stopped to purchase lunch at a Chinese restaurant for my wife and daughter who were in the hospital. I did not have any cash on me so I walked into a store on the side to use the ATM. I had just stepped in the store when a lady told me my car was being towed, I turned around to find the towing van hooking up my car. I explained I was heading to the Chinese restaurant and had only stepped in the other store to use the ATM before making my purchase. I told them I was heading to the hospital to meet my daughter and wife and showed them the text messages with the request for food. They refused and insisted I pay $136.09 for them to release my vehicle. I was still within the vicinity and actually patronized a store in the complex and had every right to park my car without being made to pay a ransom. They claimed their job is to tow any car when the person does not enter a store in the shopping complex but do not wait to see where the person goes to. I have my receipt to prove that I went into a Chinese restaurant in the complex, and only used the ATM in the adjoining store to obtain cash.Desired Settlement: I want Quick2 Towing and Recovery to refund the $136.09 I paid to get my car back

Review: I parked in a lot, that I did not realize was privately owned (as there was only ONE sign that was not near my car). As soon as I got into the building, I read the sign and immediately left to move my car. Within the minute or two it took to walk in and out my car was already on the tow hook- but the car had not moved. The tow truck driver would only release my car if I gave him $100. I walked to a local bank to get him the money, and called my husband. A gentleman overheard my conversation and said they should only charge me the drop fee since the vehicle never left the private parking lot. When I asked the driver he said no. I gave him the money to get my car off anyway. I then went over to read the sign in the parking lot, and the drop fee is noted as $62.50 (also looked up definition of drop fee for NY State- "Drop fee" (for unhooking a car that is about to be towed): $62.50 --which applies since my car was not moved; only on the hook). I called the company immediately and spoke to a woman who identified herself as the [redacted]. When I told her the situation, she asked if I was still in the parking lot, to which I was, and that she was sending the guy back. When he returned he simply yelled at me for calling, and said that's the price- stop tying up the line. I called again, and she insisted my vehicle was removed from the lot- again it never was. She put me on hold for 5-10 minutes then hung up.Desired Settlement: I would like the price difference to what I paid ($100) versus the drop fee ($62.50)

Review: I believe it happens to a lot of customers and employees at [redacted]. Two "men" hooked and lifted my car when my fiancee WAS STILL IN THE CAR, and she was terrified and hurt. I was away for like 2 minutes. A lot of witnesses saw they moved the car when my fiancee was still inside the car and they are willing to testify for us, but these two "men" refused to admit it. In their words, "it doesn't matter. Even there is a baby inside the car, we will tow it anyway". They didn't check the car or call before towing, as they are so eagle to earn some bonus at the end of a year . It is neither professional or legal.Desired Settlement: 100% refund, an apology to my my fiancee.

Review: I parked my SUV in a parking lot for a massage appointment at Shao Massage that I frequent in that strip of stores. My appointment was at 10:30 A.M. This incident occurred during a winter storm and it was very cold and snowing heavily. I arrived 25 minutes early and parked directly in front of the store. I went to the diner next door to pick up a cup of coffee because it was very cold. I came out a few minutes later and the tow truck company had already lifted my car and was pulling it out of the lot. I chased the truck for 3 blocks in the snow before he stopped. I explained that I was waiting for the store to open and why would he tow my vehicle within 5 minutes during a major snow storm. He scoffed and demanded $136.00 in cash and refused to give me a receipt. He dropped my car in the middle of Union Turnpike facing in the wrong direction in the middle lane. Whatever they did to tow my car drained my battery and I was unable to start the car. I called AAA roadside assistance and it took them an hour to arrive so they could jump start my car. During that time vehicles, buses and trucks were skidding right past me. They left me in a very dangerous position. They are an unscrupulous company and towed me unjustifiably. The diner owner later told me they have someone watching the lot all day and call immediately if you step outside the lot for a minute.Desired Settlement: I believe the behavior of this company is outlandish and dangerous to the general public. They are taking advantage of paying customers within the lot's stores. They endangered my life by leaving a dead car in the middle of a major road facing in the wrong direction. Their reputation should be damaged and larger signs should be put in place. I could not read the signs because of the snow storm. There should be a certain time limit before they can tow your car. In certain states it is at least an hour. I'm sure there is a time limit in New York.

Review: THEY ARE A BIG SCAM. They wait for you to step out of your vehicle and turn around so that they can hook up your car. They have nothing better to do but wait up the block and STALK the parking lot for their next victim. They force you to pay on the spot the same price as if they were towing the car. $125 plus tax to tow the car... my car however was not towed it was just hooked up to the towing truck. They work hand in hand with the "private parking lot". I called and the lady was rude and said she would return my call. I'm still waiting for a return call. I am not from the area nor have I ever been in that exact location so I was unaware of the big fraud I was walking into. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN the address on the receipt doesn't even match what is on the internetDesired Settlement: There needs to be a refund, they cannot charge the same amount for a tow as they would for hooking your car. The business's ethics towards customers need to be looked at they clearly have an F as the rating.

Review: I had bad experience with this company. I parked my car in the Fresh Meadows shopping mall in Queens, NY. Was around 30 feet from my car when my car was picked up by tow truck. They saw me. When I ran back they start to push me to pay cash otherwise they will take my car and tomorrow I'll pay much more ($200). All my explanations that I feel bad (I have [redacted]) and went to the shade were rejected by them. They asked for the $70 for 5-10 seconds that I parked my car at parking place of Shopping Mall. They pushing me to pay by opening my car without key. They pushed me pay $50. They didn't give me any receipt. I think it's really not fair. The company has unethical collection practices. Their NY State Plate # [redacted]. Be away from them. Really bad experience, my day was ruined. We called to the base of tow truck company and have even more uncomfortable conversation with the front desk lady.Desired Settlement: I think that I was charged improper. Expect them to return my $50 back.
