On Thursday, 8/14/14, my husband and I took our [redacted] to Randy's via a referral by a mechanic we use regularly. Randy's was going to replace a computer chip that had been fried and also replace 3 tires. They told us the cost was going to be $440 and was going to take 2 days to fix. We called the next day to check on the car and they said they were still waiting for the part. We called again that Tuesday because they hadn't called. They said they were trying to put in the part. The part they had to replace to fix the chip was the PCM. My husband called on Thursday to check on the car and they said they would call back, but never did. My husband began calling every day. Each time they would say they would call back, but they never would. At the end of week 2 Randy's told us the bill had risen to $560. My husband told them to put the car back in it's original condition and just change the 3 tires and we would still pay the $440. They said they would write up a note for us to take to the tag office to wave the car for inspection purposes. Another week goes by and we were still calling every day. They never called us back. Finally on 9/2/14 I called and told them I wanted answers. That's when [redacted] told me that the car was at the [redacted] dealership. They took our car to the dealership service department without telling us. I called [redacted] and told them we did not know the car had been there, which finally made sense as to why they could not tell us anything about the car when we would call. [redacted] said our bill for them was $560 and they still had to put in the new PCM that Randy's was supposed to have done in the first place. Thank God the [redacted] mechanic helped us with our situation and only charged us $807 instead of almost $1100. Since the morning of 9/2/14 when I talked to [redacted], Randy's will not answer our phone calls. They do not have a voicemail. They gave us no information throughout the process about our car, and never told us it had been taken to the dealership to be worked on.Desired SettlementThe [redacted] mechanic told us that $560 of the $807 that we had to pay was for Randy's mix up putting on a wrong part. I would like Randy's to pay us back the $560 it cost us for their mix up. Randy's did no fixes to the car, they never communicated anything with us, they never called back, and they never told us our bill was climbing with a different mechanic. We asked Randy's to put the car back in its original state and did not comply. Our receipt from [redacted] shows it was taken to them on 8/20.
