Went for inspection, was told my car would fail with windshield banner even though my car has been inspected at the same place the last two years.....Took the $25 windshield banner off, passed car. I want my money back from them taking off the windshield banner. It's against the law to touch a personal vehicle during a state inspection. Their job is only to pass/fail. Paid with cash.Desired SettlementRefund on sticker they took off vehicle. $25Business Response I am the owner of the business and although I did not inspect the vehicle I was present the entire time and also spoke the motorist. The vehicle was about to be rejected for a safety violation. The problem was that it had a 6 inch tall yellow decal across the whole width of the lowed windshield within the critical view area. [redacted] (the inspector) was about to reject the vehicle for a restricted windshield view. I asked [redacted] if he informed the motorist that the car was about to be rejected. He said no. I asked him to inform her before he rejected the vehicle to see if maybe she wanted to remove the decal and thus make the vehicle pass [redacted] She agreed. [redacted] went to finish the inspection. I then pulled the inspection manual out went to the windshield page and showed her the law regarding restricted view. It was quite clear that the vehicle would fail with the decal. I want to make it clear that we asked her if she wanted the decal removed and thus pass [redacted] inspection and she agreed. If she said no then he would have just rejected the vehicle. It really made no difference to u we were just trying to help her. I will not re-imburse the motorist for anything.
