Regency Jewelers

Charged my debit card twice after they received an approval slip the first time and refuse to refund my monies (as promised).I went into the Regency Jewelers on Saturday, May 16, 2015. I asked the salesperson if he could repair the band on my husband's [redacted] watch and add a new battery to my [redacted] watch, as well as clean my wedding ring (all, as well as others, purchased from this jewelry) store. I asked the salesperson if they accepted debit cards and he stated yes. I paid $163.87 with my debit card and was shown a "[redacted] approved" on the credit card machine. The salesperson received a "[redacted] approved" slip from the credit card machine, but then stated that he didn't receive the merchant's copy of the "[redacted] approved" slip from the credit card machine. The young lady (other sales person) tried to fix the machine and stated they would have to charge my credit card again because there was something wrong with their machine. I explained that my niece was graduating that day and could not afford for them to hold $327.74 on my card. The lady explained that she would refund my monies to me that same day (Saturday afternoon) and then she changed that statement to Monday morning. I told her that we could solve this problem by my pulling up my bank account statement. I pulled my bank account statement online and it showed the $163.87 pending on my debit card. As I stated earlier, the salesman also was holding a [redacted] approved slip in his hand. This was double proof that I made the payment and that it was approved. After contacting the manager, [redacted], he again stated that I had no choice but to pay the $163.87 for the second time because apparently their machine was broken, but he assured me that I would receive my funds back by Monday morning. The salespeople, the manager ([redacted]) and the owner were all very rude to me. On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, I see that the $163.87 was taken from my account twice and has cleared my bank twice. After I informed the owner and [redacted] (manager) of this information, they told me several different stories. One story was that it will take 25-30 days for my money to be refunded. Another story was it will take 3-5 days for my money to be refunded and the last story I was told is that Regency's bank is only seeing the payment once and therefore does not owe me the other $163.87. I told the owner that I would gladly bring my statement back into the store to show that the funds were taken from my account twice and has cleared my bank twice. The owner stated that he will not request a refund be sent to me because he didn't receive the money twice. I am disheartened by the way I am being treated with this store. I went in as a loyal customer and I paid whatever I was asked to pay. I now am having bill payments bouncing because Regency is refusing to refund my money back. Regency should not be allowed to treat the customers like this. I am due $163.87 back and I need my money refunded immediately. Desired SettlementI would like to receive the $163.87 back that was charged to my debit card twice. I can show my bank statement as proof that Regency Jewelers charged my card twice and the funds cleared my bank account to Regency Jewelers twice. I would also like a formal apology since the salespeople, manager and owner were all very rude to me and embarrassed me in front of several other customers as if I had done something wrong. I did not do anything wrong. I paid what I was owed and was overcharged and now, they are refusing to release my money.
