This business was quoting an hourly charge of $60.00/hr on the phone less a $written estimate fee if the business was to get the jobWhen the bill was added up, the Business was charging $120.00/hr for handyman services I never received a written estimate Business was trying to charge me hours when the total time was suppose to be Every time I asked for a written estimate, I was given some un -believable excuse.I had a leaky faucet in my guest bathroom and the Business owner, Charles S***, is the person who sat the hourly rate I did register a formal complaint with PORA of Sun City West I am due:$plus parts that were not used and invoices where the parts were purchased However, I was deniedPlease investigate and advise Thanks *** ***
On March 15, 2016, I sent an email to Firefighters Handyman Services requesting the following repairs: A Cold water leak from the faucet in my bathtub, replace the bathroom vent (I purchased the replacement vent,) repair the brick on the outside of the house that was coming loose, and repair a small leak on my roof causing water to leak into my garage when it rains
On 3/18, the repair person, Joey, came to my home to perform the requested repairsI walked around with him pointing out what I specifically needed to be fixedAs we were walking around the outside of the house, he said he didn’t have the proper tools or the time to do the brickI pointed out where the roof was leaking, and he said someone else would need to look at that - maybe someone with experience
We then went into my bathroomHe pointed out that that the some of the tile on the wall about the bathtub was loose I told him it didn’t need to be repaired because I was going to replace it
He started to complain and said that they did not schedule enough time for him to do the repairs and I should call back to schedule the remainder of the repairs
I had to leave for awhile, but my son was home while I was gone I was gone for a few hours, and when I returned Joey was sitting in my bathtub with white caulk on his fingers He said he was fixing some of the tile; however, as I had already told him I didn’t need it done, I thought that he was doing it on his own as a customer service gestureHe left scuffs from his rubber shoes and globs of silicone caulk all over my bathtub
He showed me the invoice and I wrote a check for $I ask him for a copy of the receipt for an eighty-five dollar charge for a repair kit, but he said they didn’t give us the receipt He didn’t even show it to meThe charges included $for parts to repair my cold water faucet and four hours of labor (to repair the cold water faucet and install a ceiling exhaust fan) !!!!!
On April 17, 2016, I sent an email regarding the shoddy work and for being overcharged for the repairs I received an email from Karyn M*** stating that the owner Chip was away but she will let him know and they would rectify the situation “Unfortunately, I cannot ask Joey, he is no longer employed by usAgain, as soon as the owner gets back..I will speak with him and WE WILL get this taken care of..Oh and we don't give receipts out.” On June 1, I emailed: Karyn, I haven't heard back yetShe replied, I am so very sorry, Chip will be calling you soonI thought he had contacted you already but it was our miscommunicationAgain so very sorry! I was never contacted
My husband used to do all of our work around the house, he is now unable to.accomplish these chores We just had our fourth visit from Firefighters Handyman ServicesWe have had excellent serviceClean, knowledgeable, up front with the costs, respectable with time and well worth the moneyWe will call them again when we need them
