December 21,2016, Mrs. [redacted] called to schedule a service call. She stated that her furnace wouldn’t work and that she probably needed a new one. This took place during regular business hours and our charge for a trip to the home and a diagnostic fee is $65.00. That fee is called a ‘service call’. If the technician is able to make the repair within a reasonable amount of time the repair is also included in the $65.00, if not, they are billed at $60.00 per hour. We charge $85.00 for a service call that is outside of our regular business hours. Amanda is the person that answers the phone and if she is asked how much our service calls or cleanings are, she will tell you. I urge whoever is reading this to call our number and ask how much a service call costs, she will tell you.Two of my techs went out not long after she called and did a brief inspection and determined that the homeowner did not need a new furnace. They put a new thermocouple on the furnace and started it up. They did a safety check on the furnace and moved on to their next call. The homeowner states that it took 15 minutes to fix it. That’s how long it takes a trained and experienced technician to replace a thermocouple. I’m sure compared to the niece’s boyfriend’s bungled attempt to fix it, it did seem pretty fast.To summarize, the homeowner called to get their furnace repaired, our technicians responded to her request in a very timely manner, they fixed it and did not take advantage of her by telling her she needed a new furnace, the office sent a bill for $81.00 that breaks down to a $65.00 service call charge plus $16.00 for the part. I must explain that we buy our parts at a wholesale price and sell them at the manufacturers suggested retail price, which is how business works. If [redacted] wants to sell the parts cheaper, that is their right.I am missing something...where is the fraud? What is the scam? Where is the false advertising? I challenge the homeowner to show us anywhere that we have advertised a lower price.These accusations are ludicrous and are a clear attempt to get out of paying a bill. The bill stands and finance charges will be added on until it is paid. I should be allowed to add on for my wasted time addressing this idiocy.Sincerely,OWNER
