Restaurante Yesenia Reviews (1)

My co-workers [redacted] and [redacted] and I decided to order food from them at about 3:00 p.m. today. [redacted] and [redacted] ordered Carne Asada Tortas and I ordered a carne asada taco. [redacted] took two bites from her torta and threw it away stating that it had a weird fishy taste to it. I and [redacted] ate all of our food. within the hour of finishing our food, [redacted] and I began with diarrhea and vomiting. I called the restaurant just to let them know that we had gotten food poisoning in hopes that they wouldn't serve the same meat to others and get others sick but they were rude on the phone.Product_Or_Service: Food Desired SettlementI am unsure of what resolution would be the best but I would like the health department to go and check out the way they make the food so others won't get sick from it. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] ownerContact Phone: 775-250-3475Contact Email: Danny[redacted]@gmail.comTo whom it may concern, I am writing this in response to complaint number [redacted]. On May 2, 2016 at about 3:07pm, the customer came into the restaurant and picked up a to go order of two carne asada Tortas and one carne asada taco. Later that same day, at about 4:30 pm, I received a phone call from that same customer stating that the torta that she had ordered and eaten from the restaurant made her sick. I as the owner of the restaurant, take such accusations very serious and if there was a problem, I more than anyone else, want to make sure that it gets resolved. I have been in the food industry for 36 years and I am also certified by the Washoe County Health Division as a certified food protection manager. With that in mind, I merely tried to explain to the customer that in order for food poisoning side effects to appear, per the health department code regulations, the food needs to be in one's system for about four hours. Here, the customer had ordered her food at about 3:00 pm and called alleging that that the food had made her sick merely one hour after consumption. Upon this explanation the customer became upset and hung up the phone. She then wrote a bad review on [redacted]. I replied to that review and offered for her to come in to the restaurant so that we can resolve any issue or issues that were lingering. She refused. Soon after I received this complaint. On May 2 after I received the call from the customer, I went to the back of the kitchen and checked on the meat and vegetables that were put in that torta. I checked the meat of the same batch that was used to prepare the customer' torta with the thermometer giving me a temperature of 180 degrees which is beyond the established safe degree for consumption of meat. Additionally, I checked the temprature of the remaining vegetables of the kind that were put on the torta such as the onions, tomatoes and lettuce and the like, the temperature of those came back to 38 degrees, again this is beyond the safe limit for consumption. I have kept samples of the meat and vegetables that were used to prepare the customer's torta and are available for viewing if needed. Of course, by this time, they are old food and will need to be thrown out soon. I also want to take the time to explain how the food is cooked. The meat, specifically the carne asada that is used is cooked in small batches. Each small batch that is cooked contains enough food for about six orders. Thus, the meat that was used in the customer's torta, was also used for other orders and there were no further complaints noted. Lastly, I have pictures of the items used to prepare the food that was given to the customer which are available for viewing if needed. As I stated before, I want to get this issue resolved therefore, should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Food poisoning can occur at any given point, 3 of us ordered food. The 2 that ate the food got sick, started with nausea then diarrhea and vomiting. The 3rd person that only took a bite from her food did not get sick. When I called the restaurant. My only purpose was to have them avoid serving the same meat to anyone else. We all know that mistakes are made and a simple Im sorry would have sufficed. On the contrary the owner was rude and attempted to redirect blame, not what I expected. I would never eat there again. First and last time and neither would my co-workers, unfortunately not until this happened to us and started talking to friends did we realize that others have had the same experiences while eating there. This does not seem like an isolated incident. Final Business Response I am sorry for the experience you had. I really care for my customers. If there is anything we can do, please let me know and I will be happy to make that happen. Thank you. [redacted]
