Review: The paint was advertised as having a 25 year warranty against cracking and peeling. The paint cracked and is peeling which has caused the wood to rot

Due to the cracking and peeling the logs on the log home have began to rot. This is documented with photos. The company was notified they sent out a representative who photoed the damage himself and submitted it. I received a response that stated they were not responsible because the damaged was cause by the building settling. I had a contractor that assures me the building damage was not caused by settlement, or standing water as Rhino Shield Stated in their response. The house is on pilings 16' in the air. The house is 4 years old and was first coated by Rhino Shield.Desired Settlement: to cover the cost of repairs is my first choice

I will accept a refund if I have to

Replacement product is being delivered to the customer's home this week at no charge. We were waiting on the customer to let us know when he was ready and we received that call today.

Review: Rhino Shield was contracted to apply their product to our deck railings and exterior door frames at a cost of $5300.00. Before application all wood surfaces were inspected by Rhino Shield and rotting or questionable wood was replaced by their employees. Soon after the initial application the paint began cracking and peeling. They sent their technicians over to sand and reapply their product. Their product failed again and again. This occurred numerous times. I requested a refund of my $5300.00 and agreed to void the warranty if refund was issued. Rhino Shield refused and sent a letter stating they would take no further action. At this time I had an attorney contact Rhino Shield to request a refund. They sent a third party inspection company to evaluate the problem. The inspectors report claimed we had not used pressure treated lumber in the construction of the railings. This is incorrect and I have the receipts from the lumber company where the wood was purchased stating the wood is pressure treated. Rhino Shield did not tell us their product would only adhere to pressure treated wood at the time of contracting. To this day they still have not issued a refund. We will now have to replace all railings.Desired Settlement: Refund entire price paid $5300.00

This deck project was completed in July 2011. After servicing the deck railings multiple times, an independent inspector was hired to see what the cause of the problems might be. An infrared imaging report was done which found that the deck was built using improper materials which has lead to the failure of the substrate. We would be interested to know if a permit was pulled when this deck was built. A parish inspection report could help clarify whether or not the deck was built to code.Had the correct galvanized fasteners been used, they would not be rusting. Had treated wood been used, it would not be rotting. The wood had a 45% moisture reading, which would not be possible with treated wood. A copy of the inspection report and a copy of the letter that was sent to the customer on July 3rd, 2014 is attached. We have done everything in our power to help the customer resolve this matter. Had the deck been built properly none of these issues would have ever came about. We aren't responsible for substrate failure, water intrusion or wood rot which is clearly the case here. This file has been closed for almost a year now.

Review: Product/prep does not appear to perform (i.e. maintain its initial appearance as indicated during sales process) nor is it durable, in my opinion. My old paint performed better with regard to what I would term "normal use"Also FRAUD, in that I was given brochures that have the BBC logo on them!Desired Settlement: I would like for them to remove their product from my house so that I can proceed with hiring a regular painter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10549693, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Without going into customer service issues (which are ample but merely distract or from the main issue), my complaint was specifically in regard to product failure. Product cracks on woodgrains, pulls off with a wasp nest, is scuffed by what I consider to be normal wear. For example, a hose dragged around a corner peeled off paint and caulking, placing a light canvas chair where it may contact the wall results in scuffs. The same is true with a water main tool that has hung on my wall for over 20 years. There were never any of the above complaints with my old paint. Some of the touch ups done Tuesday are already opening up again.2. I was advised and provided with brochures indicating that this business was monitored by and in compliance with Revdex.com standards. Regards,

Response:

The customer has T1-11 Plywood siding which has several areas where the wood grain is separating and delaminating. This typically occurs with this type of siding material as it ages. The Rhino Shield coating eliminates the need to paint over and over but it can't prevent plywood siding from separating. In an effort to provide top quality service to the customer the following steps were taken. Our service representative met with the customer at her residence and repainted all of the areas of concern at no charge. Additional touch up product was also left for future touch ups.

Review: [redacted] I have a 2 story home with top half being wood siding.I was interested in Rhino Shield after seeing advertisement.Salesman assured me that my home was good candidate for product.Crew came and prepped home, then sprayed Rhino Shield. It appears that prep work was inadequate because areas not prepped well looked very unfinished. All imperfections showed.I was led to believe that Rhino Shield would cover nail holes and other imperfections.Spoke with manager at Rhino Shield to come and inspect completed work.Took couple of weeks to arrange meeting to see the outcome.Representative came to inspect and immediately agreed with my husband and I about work being unsatisfactory. He stated then that product should have been rolled on instead of sprayed.Crew came following week and rolled product on.We are still very unhappy with end product. We would like to schedule meeting with owner at our home to inspect workmanship.I feel that advertisement was very misleading.Desired Settlement: Would like to re-negotiate final price.

Response:

Rhino Shield of Louisiana performed the work on the customer's home and the customer still has an outstanding balance of $3,790. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to collect the money owed by the customer, we had no choice but to have our legal department file a statement of lien and privilege on the customer's property for non-payment of services provided.

Regards,

A request to have the owner come and inspect my home after completion to see what remedy can be achieved is just that;a request.A lien placed on my home with no discussion is not an acceptable answer to my request.please accept this response as a "disagree" with there answer

Response:

Rhino Shield of Louisiana has made multiple attempts to please this customer. The customer's complaint is that the imperfections of the home were still visible after our product was applied. Rhino Shield Ceramic Coating can be applied by spraying, rolling or brushing. In this case we sprayed and then came back and brushed another coat. Rhino Shield Ceramic Coating does not make an imperfect surface look perfect, it actually contours to the surface it's applied to. We have made a reasonable attempt to resolve this complaint. In this case the customer is being unreasonable.

Review: We signed a contract for Rhino Ceramic System with a 25-year warranty on June 1, 2011. The job was completed August 10, 2011. The warranty covers chipping, flaking and peeling. After just one year, on October 8, 2012, our home suffered from all of the above. A team of men came out to my home, at a charge of $125, and made the repairs. Now, the same damages have again appeared on two sides of my home. I tried scraping and sanding and touching up with the paint that Rhino Shield left here. Naturally, my home looks like an amateur job and the newly painted spots are very obvious because of the severe fading of the original paint just three yeas into a 25-year warranty. My home looks "ugly" and embarrassing and in need of a paint job. This was a big investment my husband and I made and their slogan, "Never Paint Your House Again," was the main reason for us to make this commitment. I don't think it is unfair for us to feel this is false promising. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Just the opposite.Desired Settlement: I would like someone from Rhino Shield to come to my home and view the problems we are having and suggest a fix. The damage seems unreasonable to occur in just three years and a very costly mistake for us to have made. We are very disappointed and deeply regret our decision.
