They donated my $900 hand bag prior to the 30 days they give you even after they were told I would be back in two weeks to collect.June 22/16 my mother went to Rhodas and took two handbags in for a me and few of her things. The employees went through everything and gave back what they didn't want. They kept my blue [redacted] hand bag and my green [redacted] bag. At the time of drop off we were told that everything goes to charity after 30 days. She told them we would be back in two weeks to collect money or items as we DID NOT want them going to charity. She went in July 11/16 to collect the money/items and they told her they donated the my $900 [redacted] handbag!!! For one, it hasn't even been 30 days so why are my things going to charity? and that bag was in perfect condition so if they knew they didn't want it why didn't they return it at the time they were going through everything else? I contacted the store and the woman I spoke to had nothing to say. All she could say was that it had been donated. I asked why wouldn't they return it if they knew they wouldn't keep it and why they donated it when it hadn't even been 30 days...I received no response. I even said to her, did one of the employees keep it is that why you guys are claiming it was "donated" because I even asked her which charity they donated it to and she couldn't even answer that. She just gave me a list of charities they donate to. [redacted]. All I want is my bag back [redacted]Desired SettlementI would my bag back. Or compensated for it but I certainly do not want a store credit.Business Response [redacted]. When Miss [redacted] called in to complain about this issue she was rude and vulgar and left my staff in tears. In order to get Miss [redacted] off the phone and stop the abuse we recommended she contact you people. -The value of this purse was $300. according to [redacted], [redacted]'s mom when she initially came into the store looking for the pure. It has now risen to $900 which is extremely high for a used [redacted] purse. -We work very closely with our charities and [redacted] did list them off for [redacted].-because we are very vulnerable to scams whereby customers can say they have brought some valuable item to us and want compensation, we have set up controls to protect ourselves. If a valuable item is accepted and then upon closer analysis we find it is soiled, ripped etc we make a memo on the customers account explaining what was wrong with the item. We then call them to ask for instructions as what we are to do with the item. (ie. pu and repair or send to charity.) [redacted] I will not compensate Miss [redacted] in any way. [redacted] In closing, I must emphasize the brutal manner [redacted] has treated my staff over a "used purse". It truly was not warranted. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted] Of course I'm going to get rude when the staff couldn't even answer any of my questions and when they just dispose of my bag without contacting me prior. It could have been given back when they went through everything else. And yes, the original [redacted] price tag on that bag was $899.00. I have found very similar handbags on the [redacted] website and they start at $699 and increase in price.[redacted] Final Business Response We have found the missing purse on a back shelf of our pu area. Please note this is a faux [redacted], I'm sending a pic of a real [redacted] label for comparison. With the wear this purse is worth 0. If it was in good shape we would have sold it for $25. and she would have gotten 40% of that which is $10. [redacted] claimed it was worth $900.
