Richboro Gulf Reviews (1)

Review: There is more than just improper or inferior service here. There is also, unreasonable or excessive dealy in completing service which ended up causing additional damage and casued warratny to expire, failure to provide a receipt for transmission that I paid for, failure to respond to phone calls, the product I purchased was defective, improper repair, inferior repair.

Had 1998 [redacted] wtih 145,000 miles taken to service provider for exhaust problem which was fixed and paid for. They put in a universal exahust that cost a few hundred dollars. Immediately after that service, vehicle started experiencing transmission problems. Took vehicle back to Gulf to have car checked out. Was told it was a bad transmission and would need to be replaced. Agreed to have work done. I asked for receipt for used transmission that was installed and was never given receipt. I was told the receipt would be the receipt from Richboro Gulf. I have no idea where the transmission came from. I was told it was used and had approximately 107,000 miles on it. The work was completed. As soon as I left the shop, I could tell that there was something not right. Upon acceleration, could feel the transmission pull. Went back to service station as was told to let it go a little as the trans may need to cycle and run a little. It became apparent that it was not getting better. This was sometime in Spring of 2012. I contacted the service station numerous times. I was told by owner, he was in contact with someone or he was waiting on a call back. I gave the owner the benefit of the doubt which was my mistake. This back and forth calling, leaving messages, stopping in, continued throughout the summer. Finally, I had had it. The car was sitting there on his lot for over 4 weeks and nothing was being done. Finally, he came clean and told me there was nothing he could do. The transmission was out of warranty. I tried all summer to get this resolved only to be given the run around and bascially put off as if I would go away. The owner, while not responsible for the transmission, should have attempted to work on behalf as he was paid over a thousand dollars for the transmission plus the labor costs. He never contacted me. I always had to call him. If I had $10.00 for everytime I made contact, left a message for a retrun call, or stopped by into station, I could have paid for the labor costs for a new transmission. The owner did nothing to help out. He basically told me, I was on my own. This could have all been avoided, if he had not told me in the beginning that the transmission needed to be run for awhile all the while, the warranty was expiring. He did nothing to bring it back in for another check. I recently took the vehicle to someone else and I was told that there is no way that Richboro Gulf did not know the condtion of this transmission. It is in appearance obvious that it is from a junk yard and was in horrible condition and it mired in gunk and was below what they would have ever installed on any of their customer's cars.Desired Settlement: My desired settelment is more than just Explantion of Charges, but I want the receipt from the place they purchased transmission for this vehicle. , There is more thWe should have been compensated at some level for this less than professional installation of a transmission. Besides that fact that it was faulty from the moment of installation, the owner constantly pushed me off by telling me he would get back to me (he never did. I always had to call him again). This went on for three months and in the end I showed up with my car and left it there. It sat for another three weeks with same excuses about getting back to me or they were going to look at it tomorrow, etc... Finally, I showed up. I started to express my concern and because there was another customer in area, the owner moved our conversation outside, where he basically told me, it was out of warranty and his hands were tied. As I said, I trusted this guy and if he would have listened to me in the beginnning, I would not be out 1500.00 as it would have been corrected immediatley and under warranty. I want a receipt of where this transmission came from which he never gave me. I believe as does my new mechanic that the place where he told me he got the transmission from is not the correct place as the new mechanic said that place stands behind their merchandise and would not have even issued a transmission in this condition. I took four vehicles from my family to this guy for service. I had many vehciles to this guys for repair, for inspection, for emissions. Never again. He lost that business and I do not recommend Richboro Gulf to anyone. What kind of customer service is that? He ripped me off and offered nothing.
