Richmond Camera Shop Reviews (1)

Review: Purchased [redacted] camera from Richmond Camera for $286.06 on 9/24/2010. In 2012 began experiencing problems with turning camera on. Bought new battery and problem persisted. Richmond Camera sent camera to [redacted] on 1/8/2013 and kept it two months in repair; cost=$160. Picked up camera in early March, 2013 and problem still existed. On 6/24/2013 tried 9 times before camera came on; took it back & [redacted] could not get camera to turn on at first. Replaced battery and new battery would not charge. Called [redacted], Mgr. of Repairs at [redacted] location, and he said to send camera back to [redacted]. I refused because if [redacted] couldn't repair camera in the two months they had it, why send it back a second time. I asked for $160 credit on the [redacted] repair toward a new camera. [redacted] refused. On 7/1,2013 tried 4 times before camera came on so took it back and camera would not turn on or charge new battery for associate. [redacted] refused to give a credit for the repair. Camera still is unreliable to turn on and will not charge a new battery. Spent a total of $446 for a continuous shoot camera that does not work in a timely manner. By the time the camera comes on, the volleyball play for which I purchased the camera is long over.Desired Settlement: I had originally asked for a $160.00 credit on the failed repair to use toward the purchase of a new camera from Richmond Camera. However, when at the [redacted] today, associate told me they were "working on" going out of business. Therefore, I am asking for a $160.00 credit to my [redacted].

Response:

While Richmond Camera strives to

insure the satisfaction of all our customers there are times where we cannot accommodate

a customer’s request. In this instance the customer purchased a [redacted] for

[redacted] from Richmond Camera in September of 2010. The [redacted] had a

manufactures instant rebate of $50.00 and Richmond Camera’s dealer cost was

254.96. Over two years pass in which the camera is presumably working correctly

when, in January of 2013, the camera develops intermittent power issues. As the

customer explained, the camera would turn on sometimes, but not others.

Additionally, there were problems with charging some batteries while other

batteries worked. The battery is changed

in the [redacted] by connecting an AC adapter to the camera. Intermittent power

issues are difficult to track down and fix. At this point the camera is sent in

to [redacted] for repair. [redacted] repairs pass through quality control and have a 90

day workmanship warranty in an effort to make sure repairs are working

correctly when returned and protect customers should a problem arise. When we

learned the camera was still having the same issues we offered to send it back

to [redacted] to have them fix it again at no cost to the customer. At this point

the customer refused to allow us to have [redacted] honor their workmanship

warranty. In an effort to do everything within our power to help, we offered a battery

charger and battery, $79.98 of equipment at no charge, which she refused to

take as well.

Richmond Camera sells only

products that we trust and know to be good. However, we do depend on the

warranties provided by the manufactures to help protect our customers. As a

third generation family owned business, established in 1938, we fully

understand we have do everything we can to help our customers, but we cannot

accommodate those customer requests that are unreasonable. We have gone above

and beyond what could be reasonably expected of Richmond Camera in order to

make sure the customer had a working [redacted]. All of our efforts to help were

turned down by the customer. We would gladly make every effort in the future to

help the customer with their repair.
