In regards to this complaint, all customers are given the option to come to the yard to redeem their vehicle or have it returned. [redacted] chose to have her vehicle retuned to her.

[redacted] vehicle was removed from [redacted]'s parking lot because she was illegally parked. The reason she was not charged a drop fee which is $62.50 plus tax ($68.65), is because she did not see the driver on the property her vehicle was already removed and towed to our yard. She agreed to the removal...

and return charge of $204.74 to have her vehicle returned to the location where it was removed from. The only time a vehicle is returned is if both parties agree on the towing price. Being that she requested to have it returned that is an additional fee, she was charged the $125 removal and $62.50 drop plus tax which brought her total to $204.74.

Review: my car was towed from [redacted] on [redacted] the tow truck company refused to drop my car called the company dispatcher and they told me I would have to pay 204.74 and they would deliver the car back to me I called the cops 311 and consumer affairs to file a complain cause they told me I have to wait at the same place they towed the car from which sounds funny to me why I wasn't able to get my car back at the tow truck company and the prices were to high the receipt was written incorrectly with information missing from it. they took over a hour an a half to give my car back but if they would have just dropped it from the start that wouldn't be the case they refused just to get more money from me why did I have to meet them at the same store they towed my car from where was my car at for an hour an a half in the end they brought my car back to the same store they refused to drop it at in the first place I should have only had to pay the drop fee for car not 204.74Desired Settlement: I would like my money refunded to me because they falsified the information and they are crooked

Review: I was shopping at [redacted] Staten island New York on 7/**/13 which is a pathmark I went in store and bought a bonfire log for 14.78 cents at 1:13pm I walked out of the store a notice my truck was about to be towed. I approach the drive and asked him what he was doing he said he was towing me for not shopping in the store which happens to be a strip mall with many store fronts not just pathmark. I tried to show him my receipt and he said it was to late to get my truck back I would have to pay him 62.50 PLUS TAX. I argued with him for a few minutes than paid him CASH 68.50 I had no choose. I called the number on the tow truck receipt and keep leaving messages. After about the fifth time I got a lady that told me take them to civil court. I filed a complaint with consumers affairs and now Revdex.com looking to just get my $68.65 back.Desired Settlement: MY $68.65 REFUNDED...

On July ** ,2013 the owner of the vehicle was towed because he was witnessed parking his vehicle at [redacted] Telco side parked and crossed the street into the cigar optima store then was after witnessed going into the barbershop. Riteway Towing was called to remove vehicle at 1:06 pm driver removed vehicle at 1:20 pm and the owner of the vehicle caught the driver towing his vehicle when he realized his car was being towed he ran back across the street The driver then explained to owner that It was going to be a fee of $62.50 plus tax when the owner was explained on why he was towed he ran into to Talco and came back outside with the manager and told the manager he is a customer why is he being towed the manager at Talco told the customer that if he lo not on the property shopping he cannot use the parking lot .The owner of the vehicle then called Riteway Towing and claimed to be a fire man and if we can do anything for him he admitted that he was across the street we told him im sorry sir but we cannot do anything for him he would have to pay the charges of $62.50 plus tax . The customer after called NYPD and NYPD arrived at the scone they explained to him that If he crossed the street they could not do anything for him because he had no receipt or actual proof that he was actually shopping at any of the stores on this parking lot. Riteway Towing policy is if you were shopping at the time or minutes before you are towed we will return your vehicle back for free. This customer had no receipt at the time because he would have gotten his vehicle returned back for free. After paying the charges of $62.50 plus tax the management company gave Rlteway towing inc a call back telling us that the owner of this vehicle went into path mark to complain that he was towed from there parking let and hes a pathmark customer management In path mark explained to the owner of the vehicle that if he parks there and goes across the street he has no control of his vehicle being towed because there are plenty of warning signs posted up on the parking lot. The owner of the vehicle never presented this receipt that he is now claiming he has . The owner of the vehicle after came to [redacted] and demanded that we give him his money back, he wanted us to give him his money back we asked him again do you have a receipt claiming you shopped in the parking he said yes I left it at home .we explained to him how was it possible that you ware shopping and did not have a receipt and now that your at our office your claiming that you left the receipt at home but you did not show this receipt to nypd or my driver or the office. The owner of the vehicle then got very upset with the female at the office jumped in his vehicle and drover off.

Sincerely,

Review: I had called the towing company while in Manhattan to have my car towed back to long island. The towing company first sent a hook-and-chain tow truck, however I didn't want any damage to my car's front end, so I requested a flat bed tow truck. The flat bed tow truck arrived about 30 minutes afterwards and when the driver got to my location. I informed him to be careful of my front end of my car, he said he knew what he was doing, however while trying to put my vehicle on the flat bed( using wood planks) the planks shifted causing the vehicle to move and hit the truck causing the front bumper to crack. At that point, I asked the driver for his bosses number, so I could call and find out how they were going to repair the damage that was caused to by car by the driver. Upon calling the dispatcher of the company and explaining what had occurred, he said that they are not liable for the damage and that they don't tell this information to all their customers before towing of a vehicle. I have a police report for the incident, where the driver also stated that he did not inform me that the towing company is not liable for any damages.Desired Settlement: I want the towing company to pay for the repair of my front bumper, as it is was damaged by the driver of the company.I have an Auto-body shop that I trust to repair my car, I can provide an estimate and want the towing company to cover the costs of the repairs.

Review: On 9/**/13 I parked my car in front of the Family Dollar Store on [redacted]. Before going into that store I briefly crossed the street and entered a different store, approximately 10 minutes later I came back and my car was gone. A man approached me and told me he was a spotter for a tow truck company, and that my car had been towed. I called the tow truck company(and the police), and the driver demanded $250 cash, plus tax. If we did not give this to him immediately he was going to keep our car at his lot 14 miles away until Monday. Which is the earliest that we could then pay $200 cash + tax to get it back. There were signs in the parking lot, but since we were planning on going into the store it did not apply to us! The police said that while this practice is ‘shady as hell’, that all I could do is take them to small claims court. But I should not have to even go that far, THIS IS PREDATORY! We were going to go into Family Dollar, but before we had the chance our car was towed. On Monday September **, 2013 we drove 14 miles down to the Riteway Towing Inc. yard, and were told we owed $136.09. We paid the ransom just to get our vehicle back, but we are a military family on a tight budget. I would like my money back, plus an apology. And for this business owner to stop conducting himself this way.Desired Settlement: My money back, an apology, and for this business owner to stop doing this.
