Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below [Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] Regards, [redacted] Ref: [redacted] Regarding: River's Bend Auto CareThis is the second vehicle I had taken to River's Bend Auto Care, the first was our ***, on which I had a new clutch installedI was very satisfied with the workThe work was done quickly and at a very fair and reasonable priceIn fact, it was the best price around! I gladly gave them a 5-Star rating I'd also give them 5-Stars for the work performed on the truckI have no problem with the work, my problem is with the excessive mark-up The evening I picked up the ***, I spoke to of the mechanics about putting the shocks on the truckThe office Manager was also there at the timeNo one that I spoke with that evening mentioned the high maof [redacted] parts, nor had I seen anything posted in print in the officeThe only thing I recall seeing is something to the effect of a poster from [redacted] stating the [redacted] used [redacted] parts, the poster did not mention a 40% mark-upHad I purchased the same shocks on-line at $cheaper, and provided them to put on, they (the shocks) would still be warranted for the life of the car by ***, and they would have had to install them whether I bought them from him or direct from ***Had I know he was marking them up an additional $158.00, I would have purchased them from [redacted] and had him install themYou may have the right to mark up labor and even that would be questionable if the labor rate is set at a certain cost per hourBesides, there is no cost to the shop for labor other than paying the employee for the work he performs, so there would have been no reason to mark up the parts prices if you're making your money on the labor, not partsI would have expected a fair markup, as I see where [redacted] online marks up slightly to the competition, but not a 40% markup! The only explanation I can get is that the macovers the warrantySo in essence I'm paying twice, just in case the parts fail and need to be replaced or repairedIs this money refunded at the end of the warranty period? Then there was the $for shop suppliesPlease tell me the shop supplies are used in raising the vehicle, loosening bolts, replacing the part, and tightening bolts? I'm okay with that as wellIt's a part of doing business, and as a contract officer's representative, I'm well aware what it means to have a meeting of the minds when it comes to contractsYou ask a question or make a statement and get some sort of acknowledgement from the customer or other party"You" did not ask Ms [redacted] either at the time she dropped off the vehicle and gave authorization for repair of the vehicle, or when she returned to pay for services rendered and pick up the vehicleWhen you removed the old shocks, you did not contact Ms [redacted] or myself and ask what type of shocks to replace the old ones with, nor were we asked if we wanted the old parts, you took it upon yourself to make that decision without our permission or provide a cost until after they were installedThe office Manager was the one who said a mid-range shock was put on the truckThe mechanic did not consult with us.Again, please understand that I have no complaint about the caliber of the work performed, I'm extremely pleased with their expertise, and timelinessMy issue is with the excessive maand the fact that I was not advised of suchI'd like to continue doing business with River's Bend as they do quality professional work, but don't need anymore surprises like this

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below River's Bend Auto Care has not offered me any type of resolution to the problemThey are simply blaming me for their wrong doingIn their statement they are mentioning things that never happened! Not once did they try to resolve the issue with me, all they wanted was more moneyThey claimed my vehicle was brought in to them overheating and smoking and that is not trueThat only happen after picking up the car from their shopAnd my vehicle had one leak that was clear in color when I took it into themAlso I returned the vehicle within minutes of picking it up, not later that night as they claimed! Dear Representative of Revdex.com: Ms***called us to obtain an estimate for a clutch
replacement on her ** *** ***We proved to be substantially cheaper than the
other estimates that she had obtained for other locationsOnce the work was
completed, they picked up their vehicle
on January 9, and asked if we
could also do shocks on their ** *** ***. We told them that we could in fact perform
the workShe called the morning of January 10, and asked if she could
bring the vehicle in to have the work performedOn January 10, Ms***
dropped off the vehicle for the repair and an estimate was not requested nor
did she state that they wanted their old partsAt this point they approved to
have all four shocks replaced on their vehicleWe priced shocks that were not
of poor quality but also not the most expensiveWe have a strict policy of
doing the work only with the customer’s approval We also have the option for the customer to
keep their original parts If they choose so before the vehicle leaves our
parking lotThis was not an option that was requested from Ms*** until
after the bill was paid and they took the vehicle off our lotIt is in fact:
the law that parts ;ire to be returned to the customer only If they request for
the parts to be returned to them, this was not the case, Once the vehicle left
the old parts were discarded and disposed ofEven If the original parts were
to be reinstalled this would have put the Licensed State Inspector In a
compromising position due to the fact that the original shocks were defective
and would have failed for the state inspection that was performed on January
13, Since that repair, Ms*** has given us a five star review on ***
*** ***, "The business was amazingthey were quick and reasonableThey
were knowledgeable and friendly_ This is her new favorite business” This was
posted two days after the repair on January 12, Ms*** did state that
her husband would like to discuss the markup on the parts, we attempted to
contact him on two separate occasions to discuss his concernsMessages were
left for return call, Ms*** did call and asked for why we were trying to
contact her, we informed her that the shop manager was trying to contact her
husband in reference to his concernsWe were unable to ever contact Mr***
we also provided the customer with a 10% military discount in appreciation for
his service and sacrifice to our countyIn regards to the markup on the parts:
Mechanics make their money by charging for labor, as well as marking up the
parts used to repair your carThis combination ensures that a shop is profitable
and a mechanic can stay in business and pay his or her employees, rents,
utilities, insurance, taxes, overhead and everything else involved in running a
legitimate businessSome people are surprised when on they learn that parts
arc more expensive when bought through a mechanic than when they buy them on
their own, but this is a completely part of mechanic; doing business and
nothing unusual for the IndustryHere is the way it works: you bring your cat
to the mechanic for a diagnosis after you start having some sort of problems,
The mechanic inspects your car and then determines what parts are needed in
order to fix itHe then checks his inventory for said parts, and if they're
not availablehe will order them from a local parts distributor, or from the
manufacturer if that is the only option or lf you specify itThe arrangement
between the parts distributor and the mechanic can vary, with different
incentives available depending on how much business the shop does, what brands
are available and other will price within an acceptable range for the work performedSome people purchase their own part.sand bring them to shops In order to save on the markup, and many shops will complete the work, but it's Important to remember that the warranty for the parts will be
void in these caseThere will also be mechanic shops that will not perform work if you are not purchasing the
pars from them, and while this can be discouragedThe markup occurs when the mechanic charges you more for the
parts than he paid the distributorSome mechanics may charge a higher markup
for parts, with a lower labor rate, while some may charge a lower markup for
parts, with higher labor rates, but nearly all mechanics will mark up parts to
one degree or anotherThis markup will vary depending on the type of shop it
is, and the job that’s requested. It’s importance to remember that every shop will have their
own system for marking up parts, and if the shop is reputable, the markup and
labor rate will end up bringing the total price within an acceptable range for
the work performedSome people purchase their own parts and bring them to
shops in order to save on the markup, and many shops will complete the work,
but it’s important to remember that the warranty for the parts will be void on
these casesThere will also be mechanic shops that will not perform work if
you are not purchasing the parts from them, and while that can discourage for a
savvy customer, it’s important to respect the shop’s decision as for them,
marking up their parts in a importance source of revenue, without which the
business will not function properly. We hope to have this issue resolved in a professional and
satisfactory manner for both partiesIt is will deep regret that it had come
this far but we only hope that we can continue to have a positive relationship
with ** *** and ** ***
