Very upset with the recent business practices at this clinic We've been taking our animals here for years and recently took one of our cats in to be spayed One of the doctor's went ahead and spayed my cat-even though she was pregnant-aborting her babies-without calling us first
We'd adopted the cat as a stray at my neighbor's because they weren't taking care of her She'd put on some weight the month we had her and thought she was just finally getting healthy(she was at least half-way through a full-term pregnancy)
When the receptionist slipped up and told me, and the doctor realized how upset I was that they would do a procedure like that on an already-pregnant animal, she made up a story about how she thought we wouldn't want the babies even though that was never discussed She then back-peddled by telling us they don't check for pregnancy first(how professional)?! Her third and final attempt to cover her mistake was telling us that her ultrasound machine broke the day before(which is irrelevant since "they don't check beforehand" anyway??)and that she couldn't have checked I feel as though she knew the cat was pregnant and went ahead with the surgery so they could get paid-point blank
If the receptionist hadn't confirmed that she was pregnant after I saw it written in her file, they weren't even going to say anything This is just bad, bad, BAD Will never take my pets here again I feel heartbroken for my kitty that she was robbed of her babies at a place where she was supposed to be safe and well-cared for!
After all of that, I was still expected to pay for the surgery that I never would've elected if they'd just picked up a phone to let me know what was going on(they conveniently waited until they got their payment before bringing my cat out to me)! The option to make an informed decision would've been nice
