Rod's All Star Auto Reviews (12)

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Rod’s All Star Auto has now let me know that the 3rd attempt to “make things right and give me a vehicle I would be completely satisfied with” was unsuccessful. The PCM was not the issue after having been reprogrammed, it is again, an O2 Sensor that they’ve said I now have to replace at a cost of $1200. They have also stated they will no longer be assisting this fix and my $2300 warranty will not cover this expense.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

We are unable to do what this customer is insisting is the only solution they will accept. We cannot simply give them back their trade in. First, it has been sold, second we paid off their loan of over $9000.00. We were willing to try and find what part of the emission system was causing the check engine light to come back on but they refused our offer. Respectfully, Michael C**

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I have 5 quoted from many of the tranny places like [redacted] tranmission [redacted] Transmission HD [redacted] Auto talked to many More.. I then tried to call this number given in the respnce twice.. I was disconnected both times.. Also I believe if you sell a bad car you should step up and help make it right not just find a cheaper quote.. plus how about how we were treated by your car salesman.. Sincerely,[redacted]

In the very rare occasion a vehicle we sell disapoints our customer we do all we can to reasonably assist and this case is a perfect example of the lengths we will go.  Although we have no legal obligation to work on emission related complications that arise after a sale, we were happy to...

do so. We did replace an o2 sensor at no charge and hopped that would correct the problem causing the check engine light to illuminate. Unfortunately it didn't. History has shown us that occasionally driving this vehicle a bit can help reprogram the very sensitive system so we asked them to try that. Unfortunately, that didnt do it. We have now removed the ECM

We don't believe that calling our dealership resulted in a disconnected twice, our phone system is operating perfectly fine and we have had no other similar complaints.
We have wholesale relationships with repair facilities which without doubt is less than any rates available to the general public. This is the assistance we were offering to pass on to this customer. To reject this offer out of hand surprises us, since we haven't obtained a quote, and therefor do not know what is being rejected.
Perhaps trying to communicate via email is a way to reach us if their phone is having disconnect problems. I can be personally emailed at [email protected], and simply put "Michael C**" in the subject line.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]
I did put down wrong date ! sorry for that ,but I was in on Monday the 23rd and talked to Preston about cold air, he said he would get back to me that day so I have waited 3 days before contacting the Revdex.com!

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: From: [redacted] [mailto:[redacted]@ymail.com] Sent: Thursday, April 13, 2017 9:49 AMTo: Complaints <[email protected]>Subject: Respond to 4/12/2017 EmailDear [redacted]:Please consider this as my answer to the latest response of Manager Micheal C** who was never in any negotiation with my purchase of the Honda vehicle. I was dealing with a person named Wayne who told me he was a manager. The response of Mr. C** is unbelievable on how he could fix the EGR problem for $100 when the EGR valve is sold for over that amount and the mechanic's charges much more. More untrue statements from them are in their reply that I find it now impossible to settle this case with them. I am not asking  for any monetary grant from them, but only to remedy and correct a deadly trap vehicle they falsely represented with the "Safety OK" sign posted on the windshield and hidden "Check engine" light due to faulty EGR Bulb. I wish to point out that the EGR bulb is not the danger in the car, but the brake leakage, the old front tires, and the unchanged timing belt that will snap and completely destroy the engine, can obviously cause accident and death in a public road. Safe limit for timing belt is 80 miles odometer reading and the Honda has 143,000+ miles reading.Their intent to solve the issue was to sell me another vehicle by adding the cost of the return one, is an attempt to get more funds from me aside from the financing paid to them. It shows now that I was sold by a business company a vehicle that I can not used until the issues can be fixed while they already have my money. In view of the aforementioned statements, please allow me to close any further arguments but will wait for your decision.Sincerely,[redacted]. [redacted]From: [redacted] [mailto:[redacted]@ymail.com] Sent: Friday, April 14, 2017 11:34 AMTo: [redacted] <[redacted].[redacted]@theRevdex.com.org>Subject: Thanks Dear Ms [redacted],I am grateful I got your helpful message re my reading difficulty of your document in my phone. Thank you so much for your help.I wish to repeat my request that you consider my last answer sufficient to resolve my issue with the car dealer. After all I was only requesting to buy from them another vehicle that I could feel safe to drive, while the one sold to me was only used for  few days. If they believed in the good condition of the to-be-returned car, then they will have no problem in selling it plus another sale to me for a more expensive one. The Honda that they claim to be $3,788 will cost me $4,500, $500 down payment to the dealer and $4,000 they submitted for 30 months financing. All these figures are documented and undeniable.I hope and pray that the foregoing information are sufficient for you to make your conclusion.Sincerely, [redacted]. [redacted]P.S. I thought I sent this when I came h0ome last night. Please excuse my old brain.[redacted]From: [redacted] [mailto:[redacted]@ymail.com] Sent: Friday, April 14, 2017 1:08 PMTo: [redacted] <[redacted].[redacted]@theRevdex.com.org>Subject: LEGAL NOTICEDear Ms. [redacted]:You might consider my too many emails to you, but I wish the dealer to know that since I can not use the vehicle they sold to me, I am eager to finish the case after knowing now their violations for not disclosing the defect of the car that makes it unsafe to drive in a public highway and putting a fraudulent safety sign. I also found that the Manager has objected to my rights to have the vehicle tested by independent shop tester. Please inform Rod's All Car dealer that due to their failure to disclose the true condition of the car and accident that damaged the rear end, I ask that they change the unit I bought with the used  Nissan that I chose for the same price and condition without changing the financing terms and condition, EXCEPT FOR CHANGE OF UNIT ONLY. Please forward a copy of this letter to the dealer to comply with the legal requirements.Respectfully yours,[redacted]. [redacted]From: [redacted] [mailto:[redacted]@ymail.com] Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2017 12:01 PMTo: [redacted] <[redacted].[redacted]@theRevdex.com.org>Subject: Happy EsterHappy Easter to you and family. I wish to reiterate my request to end the dealer's and my mails that seem to be in disagreement to resolve the conflict. My continued research found fraud actions and records that might be necessary for  legal proceeding to determine. I might have to start paying next month for a purchase that is not in use.God bless to you and all of yours.[redacted]. [redacted]

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], While still upset over everything, I'm not one to hold a grudge. This complaint can be closed. Sincerely, [redacted]

There are several issues to address here: First, our referral program is for customers that purchase a car from us and then refer one of their friends or relatives and have that person ask for the same sales person, we will provide the original customer a $100 referral fee. It sounds like in this...

case her friend was not a prior customer of ours and did not purchase a car from this sales person in the past, and therefor does not qualify for a referral. Secondly, Rick is our finance manager and that may explain why Ms. [redacted] did not feel that he was helpful when she called. I am available at anytime Ms. [redacted] would like to call at 253-840-5167, and perhaps we could help by finding her mechanical work at a much less quote that she was given by her mechanics. We would be happy to try. We mail plates to customers as a service for their convenience at our expense, not as a way to avoid a discussion.

Mr. [redacted] purchased a 2000 Honda Passport from us for $3788, and he did not purchase an service contract with it. His purchase was as - is. However, Mr. [redacted] contacted us a few days after his purchase and said that his check engine light came on and he had it checked and was told he needed a new...

EGR valve. Mr. [redacted] is misinformed by suggesting we somehow knew his car would need an EGR valve and we performed "a well known procedure to conceal this from him. We do not do that. We purchased the vehicle he bought from us just one week before and there was no indication  during that time that his car needed an EGR valve. It is worth mentioning that mechanical work that we have done on cars we sell is performed by an independent mechanic, and he has no motivation to conceal needed work. He is paid to do work but he is not paid to conceal needed work.Mr. [redacted] also stated in his letter to your office that we refuse to perform a  repair or exchange but neither of these is accurate. Mr. [redacted] picked out a different car and we agreed to take his Honda back in trade, we will give his the full $3788 he paid for the car as trade in, but he changed his mind. If he wishes to reconsider, we are still willing to take his Honda as a trade/exchange. Or, even though Mr. [redacted] did not purchase a Service contract, we will offer to put in a new EGR valve valve, and we will cover 50% of parts and labor.  Thank you for allowing us to respond, and hopefully clarify our offers to Mr. [redacted].

It is our policy to respond to the Revdex.com within 36 hours of receipt of a complaint or comment, in this case the email notification was missed and deleted as spam. Our apologies. Ms. [redacted] has made statements and claims that are nonsensical to us, both in the complaint to your office  and...

in past communications. For example she believes we must be following her around and that our finance manager has "pretended" to be the owner. We have reviewed the call Ms. [redacted] is referring to and our finance manager clearly identified himself both by name and by title. In the past Ms. [redacted] has told us that some "stalker" has messed up her financing of used cars and that she doesn't know who or why but is positive someone is following her around to try and make sure she cannot finance a car. To us, this is not sensible, or likely.
Now, on to the current situation with Ms. [redacted]. We agree to finance her car when her employer failed to confirm the employment information that she wrote on a credit application and Reliable credit revoked its conditional approval. We agreed to do this against usual procedures because Ms. [redacted] pleaded for our help, and we believed her inaccurate statements about her employment we not intentional.
Six months after Ms. [redacted] purchased her vehicle she needed substantial repairs and stated she could not afford them. We then agreed to have the work done and we paid 50% of the bill and agreed to let her make monthly payments on her half of the repair bill. However she has not kept up her end of the deal and in fact is substantially past due at this time. We have been extremely flexible with Ms. [redacted] and have tried to be flexible and understanding of her situation when she calls with reasons why she is not able to make a full or sometimes any payment at all. I was very surprised to see her claims that she feels she has been treated anyway other that very fairly and shocked to see words like "crook" in her letter. Nothing could be further from reality.
We have assigned Ms. [redacted] loan for repossession and will no longer make exceptions on her account.

Tell us why here...It took us a few days to respond because we wanted to be sure we were reporting accurate information, and since I am not a technician I needed to have all of this explained to me. 1st, to address the claim that we reused a one time use bolt, and this caused our customer to...

have to pay a VW Dealer to replace this bolt. The bolts in question are the bolts that hold on the caliper and we did not remove the bolts. If we had replaced the rotors then we would have had to remove the bolt and of course we would have installed new bolts. We would not have reused them. Again, we did not have a reason to remove the one time only bolts. If a VW dealer sold him new bolts on this basis they were not correct.2nd. The claim that we used zip tied "components" . We did use zip ties to secure lose wires and not for components as claimed. The original clips that hold these wires out of the way are plastic and were not functional. It is appropriate to use zip ties for this application. We are willing to consider reimbursing our customer for necessary work that we had agreed to do, but to correctly decide this we will need to see the invoice and see what it is they charged him for. He can email a copy of the invoice to [email protected].
