On August [redacted], 2016 [redacted] had her 80th birthday party at Romanoff Restaurant. Reservation was made by her daughter [redacted] and confirmed on numerous occasions for 32 people. There were two tables that usually fit up to 40 people set up for [redacted] party of 32 confirmed guests....

However, at 7:30 p.m. on the date of the event we were told that there will be 37 guests in attendance. So we set up a separate table (that fits eight people) and five sets of banquets for the additional five guests. [redacted], while making the reservation, was fully aware of the fact that our restaurant is large and there was never any expectation or discussion that this would be a private event. She even stated that she was at our restaurant in the past and was fully familiar with our lay out, banquets and entertainment. She was also directed to our website that has ample photographs of the venue and all banquet menus. The banquet that [redacted] selected was our $100.00 per person option (please see a copy attached hereto). It should be noted that the guests received all items on the menu, not a ‘choice of’ selections. In addition, they received all soft drinks, juices, coffee, tea and complimentary wine. We did not even charge a ‘cork fee’ for any additional alcohol that was brought by [redacted], as is generally done. In addition, she was not charged any entertainment fees as is customary in venues that provide live entertainment and enjoyed music and a show all evening. [redacted] states that her party was rushed out of the restaurant. [redacted] and her guests arrived at 7:30 p.m. and left well after 1:00 a.m. Never, during that time, were they rushed or made feel unwelcomed. There was not a single complaint throughout the evening. All guests were eating, drinking and enjoying the entertainment. Few guests approached the front desk and complemented us and repeatedly stated how much fun they were having. As a matter of fact, [redacted]’s granddaughter left a review for Romanoff Restaurant on [redacted] on August **, 2016, wherein she described her family’s experience at Romanoff. As you can see from the review and the 11 pictures that she posted, her family enjoyed the food and entertainment and overall had a wonderful time. She commented on how delicious the food was, how wonderful the service was, that her family loved the show. She also pointed out that there was valet parking. She states: ‘Everyone had a great time’. After August [redacted], we received threatening phone calls from [redacted] wherein we were told that she wanted ‘compensation’ (not sure for what) and stated that ‘a restaurant of your size can surely afford it’. She further stated that she will start writing complaints and ruining our reputation unless we pay her. She never expressed any dissatisfaction with the food, service or anything else and this is nothing more than an attempt to extort money. In addition to this complaint, another one was written by [redacted], Ms. [redacted]’s sister. The facts of the two complaints are contradictory as for example, [redacted] states that she did not receive valet service and [redacted] complaint states that there were two valet attendants. This further demonstrates that the facts in these complaints are fabricated. [redacted] complaint will be addressed separately. We cannot and will not take this lightly as this complaint is entirely unfounded and untrue and we cannot allow a customer who is simply trying to get financial gain to ruin our reputation and unjustly and unfairly smear our name. We are reviewing this with our attorney and will surely take all necessary steps to protect our reputation

The person who made the reservation was fully aware of the fact that our restaurant is large and there was never any expectation or discussion that this would be a private event. She even stated that she was at our restaurant in the past and was fully familiar with our lay out, banquets and entertainment. She was also directed to our website that has ample photographs of the venue and all banquet menus. It should be noted that the tables that were prepared for [redacted]’s party had more than enough space to accommodate her guests. The banquet that [redacted] selected was our $100.00 per person option. It should be noted that the guests received all items on the menu, not a ‘choice of’ selections. In addition, they received all soft drinks, juices, coffee, tea and complimentary wine. We did not even charge a ‘cork fee’ for any additional alcohol that was brought by [redacted], as is generally done. In addition, she was not charged any entertainment fees as is customary in venues that provide live entertainment. [redacted] states that the music was too loud for her taste. She was very much aware of the fact that our restaurant has live entertainment and a show. The music volume is controlled throughout the evening and we had absolutely no complaints from anyone regarding the volume of the sound. In her complaint [redacted] states that she did not receive the valet service. This is entirely not true. There were numerous valet parking attendants and none of them ever sit on the steps of the restaurant as we have a designated area where valet attendants wait for guests. She was not happy about the fact that the valet attendants were parking cars on the street. This is the essence of valet service – to park the cars so that patrons do not have to look for parking. I am not sure what [redacted] expected as valet service. She also states that there was a lot of beautifully presented food that was not hot and did not taste to her liking. Again, it is not true. The food is always served hot as soon as it comes out of the kitchen and is served by the waiters, not buffet style as stated in the complaint. We serve food of the highest quality and taste and had no complaints at all from any patrons on the night of the event. [redacted] also states that the owner handed the bill to her mother. First of all, there was never any direction given either during numerous telephone conversation or in person throughout the evening as to whom it should be presented. Second, the bill was prepared and handled by a waiter who speaks perfect English (he is not even [redacted]) and is very courteous and attending, as is all of our staff. The bill was written out for the number of guests in attendance, not including the children. There was not a single complaint throughout the evening. All guests were eating, drinking and enjoying the entertainment. Few guests approached the front desk and complemented us and repeatedly stated how much fun they were having. Also from the pictures you can see that the room and the floor were well lit. There were members of our staff directing and assisting guests to their seats all evening. After August [redacted], we received threatening phone calls from [redacted] wherein we were told that she wanted ‘compensation’ (not sure for what) and stated that ‘a restaurant of your size can surely afford it’. She further stated that she will start writing complaints and ruining our reputation unless we pay her. She never expressed any dissatisfaction with the food, service or anything else and this is nothing more than an attempt to extort money. In addition, as is obvious from [redacted]’s complaint, she is very prejudiced against people of [redacted] origin as she stated numerous times that the workers did not communicate in English and had no ability to do so. This is entirely false and is nothing more than prejudicial statements targeted against people of [redacted] origin. It is clear from [redacted]’s granddaughter’s review that the guests had a wonderful time and enjoyed the evening. This complaint is nothing more than an attempt to extort money. We cannot and will not take this lightly as this complaint is entirely unfounded and untrue and we cannot allow a customer who is simply trying to get financial gain to ruin our reputation and unjustly and unfairly smear our name. We are reviewing this with our attorney and will surely take all necessary steps to protect our reputation.
