I purchased a Jeep from this dealership a little over a week ago. At the time of purchase, the Jeep seemed to be pretty clean-including the engine bay. I was told that their mechanic went over this vehicle and there were no issues to be worried about- I specifically asked this question.
I put a little over 100 miles on it the first week that I had it and noticed that it was running a little hot. I looked under the hood and noticed that there was coolant sprayed all over the engine bay and dripping down onto the axle. This is most definitely something that their mechanic would have noticed while he was shining up the engine bay or performing his “inspection.” I took the Jeep to a highly rated mechanic to go over it and when I got the report back, the vehicle needed $6,000 worth of repairs to operate safely on the road. The necessary repairs were: A new water pump, the rear differential needed rebuilt and the bearings replaced, new radiator hoses, new front shocks, new rear shocks, new steering linkage, new trac bar, 4 new tires, and all 4 wheels aligned. The tires and shocks were not a surprise as the tires are visible and it’s a little older of a vehicle-I am fine with replacing these.
When I contacted ***, the salesman, who was very nice during the sales process, but he was no help. I asked him if they could at least pay for the parts to fix the mechanical issues (not including suspension or tires) which totaled $1,667 out of my $6,000 repair ***. He told me that I should have purchased a pre inspection for the vehicle, even though they have an on site mechanic that pre inspects their vehicles. I was told that there were no major issues to worry about. He said that he would ask the owner to see what they could do and the owner is refusing to pay for any of the repairs.
This is not a new vehicle and obviously I do not expect it to be perfect, but $6,000 worth of necessary repairs is unacceptable. Do not expect any support from this dealership after they make the sale. They don’t care about doing what is right. They told me since they gave me a discount from the asking price of the vehicle (I still paid over bluebook value), they couldn’t help me out with any of the repair costs.

I purchased a vehicle through Select Auto Group and this vehicle has been nothing but a problem. First the service four wheel drive light kept coming on and the car would get stuck when trying to turn and wouldn’t run properly. We called Select Auto Group and they took the car back to their shop saying they would fix it. They gave the car back to me and I was having the same issues. Come to find out their “mechanic” quit and they needed to have the car fixed by a Dodge shop. So they took the car back and supposedly had it fixed, but the car has never been fixed. We tried contacting Select Auto Group again and they continue to ignore us. Now my car won’t run at all and I am still paying on a loan for this vehicle. They took this car as a trade in and did nothing to the vehicle even though we were assured that a five point inspection was done. No oil change was even performed on this vehicle and my husband found out that they had turned off the check engine light with their computer scanner without actually fixing the problems. Now I am paying on a vehicle that I can’t even drive!!!! This company should be ashamed of themselves. We used the only money that we had to put down on this vehicle and they just took advantage of us and sold us a lemon.

It all started with the car not having oil when it was suppose to be enspected they promised me parts and took over a month to receive them. The car later in a week after purchase stared knocking it didn’t want to start the alternator went out the coil packs were worn and spark plugs also I took it to many mechanics and they told me there is a knocking in the lower engine that t wasn’t going to last me. I then called Zach that works there and said that it’s the banks problem now I called the bank over 20 times in a week I tried talking to a manger getting a refund or switch my car they do not want to help me with that, I am loosing my job for not making it to work because the battery is getting worn out I have to carry a battery around to charge up the car and sometimes you put it in reverse and it just dies, I have called the Progressive where I was on the phone for 2 hours and they told me that they had sold me fraud insurance that progressive had nothing in there system for me I never got the insurance cards printed out I was only asked for my card info from Zach nothing else. This is gone way too long I need my money or a different car this is ridiculous having to call and then ignore me I don’t have money to be driving back and forward for an hour with the car I have it’s a lemon and I really want justice for this.

Our General Manager has discussed this issue with this customer several times. Their car was working properly and did not have any issues at the time of sale, or this customer would not have purchased this vehicle. Additionally, we offered the customer an extended service agreement at the time of sale (as we offer all of our valued customers) but they declined coverage.

We recently purchased an *** from Zack D & Jason D at this dealer. We were assured the car was in their exact words, "sound" & "tight". Within days at home our driveway has puddles of oil & makes a terrible sound when turning. Not the signs of a sound, reliable or tight car. After an inspection at our local dealer, both of the CV boot axels & the power steering boot had to be replaced ASAP! We contacted the sales guy Zack & after excuses, milling around, etc we contacted the manager Jason D. That didn't make Zack too happy & he was livid. His texts were not professional & an embarrassment to great car sales people out there. After being told they would make it right from the manager or owner Jason (even though we signed an "As Is document- no wonder you need to sign an As Is from this place) 1 month later- no dice! Their website states, “ Our used car inventory must pass a rigorous inspection process before it can be entered into our inventory, with our certified pre-owned options inspected in accordance with the manufacturer's high standards.” Their high standards are not even comparable to a manufacturer! Jason verbally agreed to repair the CV boots but when trying to schedule a time to do so- our calls/texts were dodged. We've spent $900 now and have NEVER had such a terrible experience with a dealer. If mechanics had checked over this car as we were assured by their sales staff & their website, this matter SHOULD BE DISCLOSED. It never was. We have also recently purchased a used *** from the Colorado Springs dealership & it has been a dream compared to Select! This has been such a huge disappointment & an unexpected extra expense.

Mr.,

We're confused, you traded in 2 late model vehicles valued at more than 4x (four times) the price of the 10 year old used AS-IS vehicle with over 100,000 miles that you purchased from us. You test drove the car and decided to purchase the vehicle. We gave you over $4,000 (four thousand dollars) more than retail book value on both traded-in vehicles and paid them off for you. Unfortunately, you neglected to disclose the hail damage on one of the vehicles that you traded in, which is required by law.

Fact: all used cars in the state of Colorado are sold AS-IS- not just the one's sold here at Select Auto Group. In fact, this is a federal law enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) called the "Used Car Rule" and reiterated by the "Buyers Guide" that is prominently displayed on all used cars. This document was thoroughly explained to you and signed by you at the time of purchase. Additionally, we offer every one of our customers an option to purchase an extended service agreement that protects consumers from out of pocket repairs in-which you declined. Also, we have a policy to allow customers to have a car checked out by their own mechanic before purchase.

Then over one week after your purchase, you wrote a threatening email to our Dealership stating that "If these problems (worn CV boots and power steering boot) cannot be resolved we will ensure anyone that pulls up your site, Revdex.com, utilizes ***, social media, or any other avenue will know of your poor business ethics and never want to buy or purchase from your auto group."

Again, we are more than happy to and consistently go above and beyond to help our valued customers before and after a sale. However, we will not stand for, condone any mistreatment or threats, nor will we accept it online or offline. That is exactly what you did. You threatened Select Auto Group and are defiling our character.

We gave you an opportunity to have us fix these "wear and tear" maintenance items at our cost and you refused to bring the car to us. We complied with all regulations in the State of Colorado. Again, the offer still stands, you are welcome to bring the car in and we would be happy to replace the worn CV boots and power steering boot.

If you have any additional questions about how we do business or would like to schedule the service, you are more than welcome to contact us at 303-993-5905. Thank you.

We purchased a *** on January 20,2018 from Select auto group. We got home late parked the car in the driveway and when we went to start the car the next moring the dash borad was still on and the car wouldn't start. We jumped the car and it started right up. I then removed the keys and took my foot of the brake and the shifter would still move and could be put in gear and the car would roll. We called the dealership that Tuesday (January 23) spoke with the manager who told us to bring the car up so his mechanic could look at it. We are from pueblo so we my husband took the day off work on Wednesday and we made the drive up there. We took it to his mechanic who said the shifter was a safety hazard and he was going to keep the car to fix the shifter and see why the dashboard wasn't turning off. Called the mechanic the next day and he informed us he thought it was a module in the stero why the dash was staying on and killing the battery and said he hasn't looked at the shifter yet but would look at it on Friday and order parts. The mechanic called us the following Monday and said he couldn't figure out the stero but was fixing the shifter. The shifter was fixed on Wednesday (January 31) The dealership contacted us and let us know they were having someone come out to look at the stero. They then called On Thursday(February 1st) and said it would be another day till someone came out to look at it. So I called to check the status on Friday (February 2nd) and they informed me that they were taking it to car toys or another audio place. My husband called them at 5 pm and they told us then it wouldn't be looked at until Monday (February 5th.) When we called on Monday they said the guy was on his way around 12pm. And they would get back in contact with us. Finally around 4pm I contacted them again and they said it was still apart at some shop. Then on Tuesday (February 6th) mind you almost 2 weeks later they called and said it wasn't the stero at all it was the ignition and they had to take it somewhere else. They said it was going to the dodge dealership and couldn't give me a time of when the car would be done. He was very rude and tried to say we broke the shifter along with the ignition when we only had the car 72hrs. Now im stuck making a payment for insurance and car payment for a car I don't even have.

I am rejecting this response because:
Hi, I wrote a complaint against this dealership a few weeks ago my reference number is ***. The day after I contacted you they called the next morning stating the car was fixed and ready. My husband left work early to go pick up the car in Denver. When he arrived they told him I needed to call the Revdex.com and tell them they fixed the issue. I refused to do so at that time because I wanted to make sure the car was really fixed. once we got it home we realized the problem had NOT been fixed at all. The dashboard still stayed on the Windows could still be rolled down with no keys and other lights in the car did not fully shut off. This is after them having our car for over 2 weeks! They sent us to a place down here in pueblo (***) where they have had our car for almost 2 weeks as well and all we keep getting is run around. We bought the car January 20th and have actually had it in our possession for 6 days total. It's February 23rd so for over a month we haven't even had the car one full week! We made the payment for insurance as well as the car payment for a car we don't even have! This isn't going anywhere and im tired of paying for a car I cant even drive.
Sincerely

Thank you again for your response. We did everything in our power to diagnose and repair this issue. Unfortunately, this was an issue that was difficult to diagnose and fix. In fact, we had over (5) outside 3rd party vendors including the manfacturer Dodge, that were unable to determine the cause or repair.

In the end, we facilitated a local unrelated repair shop in Pueblo close to you so that it would be more convenient for you. They were able to identify the issue and repair it. In addition, we paid for all of this work which cost us over $1,500. Again, we are sorry for the time inconvenience, but hopefully you can understand and respect that we paid to repair an issue that we were un-aware of until you informed us after the sale- which we are not required by law to do. You are more than happy to speak with our General Manager at 303-993-5905 if you have any additional questions or concerns.

On Oct. 4th, I bought a *** from Select and was assured that everything was fine with the car. I traded in my previous car. Everything was not fine with the car on test drive, there was a rattling under the hood when we went over the slightest bump. I had Select write it into my contract that they would fix whatever needed fixing under the hood to stop the rattling. After having my car in the shop for A MONTH (putting in a new transmission since it went out LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER PURCHASE) and the mechanic telling me he would also fix the rattling under the hood, I got my car back on Nov. 3rd. The bracket was still not fixed that the mechanic said he would also fix along with the transmission- in fact the rattling under the hood sounded worse. I let my salesman know and he has the mechanic contact me to let me know that he “put a new sway bar in but maybe it needs something else”. I choose to take it to my own local mechanic to diagnose at this point, because it’s hard to believe the mechanic didn’t hear or feel the noise on test drive, and he had 2 opportunities to diagnose it by now. At this point I also notice the car is leaking oil.
On Nov. 8th I heard back from my own mechanic regarding the rattling under the hood. They said the other sway bar also needed to be replaced, but the main reason there was a worse rattling now was because IT LOOKED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN TAKEN OUT AND PUT BACK IN AT ONE POINT AND AFTER THAT WAS DONE the power steering cooler was left unsecured and rattling around, and that the bracket meant to hold it in place was no longer there either. Obviously, that wasn’t broken and missing when I bought the car then. This is something that should be easy to catch, and it’s obvious either no road test was done, or that the mechanic chose to ignore the problem on the test drive, because the power steering cooler was just rattling around in there and making an even worse noise. So, at this point, I ask to take it to my own mechanic to fix it. Machanic says he will reimburse up to $150. I acknowledge this offer with an “okay” but do not agree to it because he wasn't understanding it could potentially cost way more. I proceed with getting it fixed at my mechanic. My mechanic re-secured the power steering coolant that was negligently left unattached, and also replaced the control link for the left sway bar in an effort to stop the rattling. This is what the mechanic authorized reimbursement for but it didn't fix the problem. The rattling was still occurring. Keep in mind I wanted it wrote into our contract that Select would fix this rattling they knew about. My mechanic then found that the front right strut was broken; it wouldn't stay in the mount and that's what was clunking in the suspension when going over bumps. That means my car was unsafe to drive on the road; I was not willing to drive it all the way back down to Select in that state for their mechanic to attempt to fix it again. After replacing the broken strut and test driving it the noise was gone. I want to be reimbursed the full $627.84 for this work since Select knew about it, said they would fix it, broke it worse, and then told me it was fixed when it clearly wasn't.
My mechanic also checked why it had been slowly leaking oil and said the oil was so caked on there that they had to steam clean it off but still wouldn’t be able to diagnose it that day. They also noted and agreed with me that the oil had been overfilled by about an inch past the point of the top line it’s supposed to be filled to at the MAXIMUM. I’m sure you know how many problems overfilling oil can cause. At no point did I nor my mechanic add to or change the oil level whatsoever. It seems really negligent to me that Select wouldn't notice either of these problems when doing a mechanical inspection before selling the car.
I took it in to mechanic yesterday for a dye test to find out where the oil will be leaking from. There are 3 oil leaks. One timing cover and 2 valve covers. Just the timing cover is about 13 hours in labor. Total it’s going to be at least $2100. I want to Select to take care of all of these issues financially because it's obvious to anyone that they knew about multiple issues and kept giving my car back to me in a horrible state after they claimed they fixed it.

Ms.,

As we mentioned before, we offered to fix the sway bar link at our cost, you agreed via text, but then chose to take your car to your own mechanic. Again, the offer still stands, we are more than happy to fix the sway bar link if you are still having issues with it at our cost and shop. Please contact us at 303-993-5905 if you would like to schedule an appointment. Thank you.
