A web search drew me to SOS Repairs thinking it was a local businessInfo at the time of booking an appointment confirmed an $dispatch fee with parts and labour charged incrementally if approvedSounds fairUpon arrival my wife was told a flat fee of $was required in order to proceed with an assessment of our noisy fridgeThis did not align with the initial termsShe accepted(I would not have due to this inconsistency)The fridge was pronounced in working orderTwo screws were tightened and the techs left, no doubt to happily go forward and [redacted] another customerUpon my complaint [redacted] I was awarded a $refundHowever the operating methods of this company need to be exposedHopefully others will be influenced not to deal with SOSIt is not a local business as it is managed out of Ontario

[redacted] Call me stupid for using this company twice but they are one of the few who would service the kinds of machines I have in my businessI sent emails regarding the complaint and no one followed up with any of themI call in and they told me there was nothing that could be done regarding the bad service I got First Time: I had a technician come by to check on two of my washing machines in my laundromat that were leaving clothes very wet at the end of the cycle because they were not spinning outWhile the technician was very friendly and nice, I was not very impressed with the service I had to pay forHe took the front panels off both machines and had me run a cycle because he wanted to see what it would do during the spin cycleAbout minutes into the cycle, he said, "you know I'm 90% sure the problem here is with the 'Speed Board' because that is usually why it does this", then just decided he was pretty sure and didn't want to wait to find outThen told me I could get new ones for about $plus $in labour for each machineThen packed up his stuffI had to put the front panels back on myself because the machines were still only about minutes into the cycle and he wasn't going to waitI wasn't impressed he only was guessing at the problem and still charged $for the service call After he left I went online and discovered the actual name of the part he told me to replace was called the "Motor Control Board" and not what he had called itSecondly I was able to buy the part I needed to replace, which he told me only consisted of undoing screws and plugging the wire in, (not something that seems like $worth of labour for EACH machine)And the part I was able to buy was only $not the $he would charge for itBut the real kicker was the second machine, which he "guessed" had the same problem and suggested I pay $to fix, well it actually wasn't even broken! After he left I looked it over myself again and found out that one of the wires had come loose and simply needed to be plugged back inSomething he should have noticed if he had done an actual diagnostic I was paying forAll in all, he was there for minutes at the most, grossly over quoted me, guessed what the problem might be, misnamed the part I needed and overlooked the real problem on one machine Second Time: I had someone come to look at a coin operated dryer as the ignition control was not igniting the gasI brought him to the machine and his first question to me was "is this a washing machine or a dryer"That is not something which installs confidenceI explained to him what the problem was and it was pretty clear he had never seen a machine like mine before but didn't admit he didn't know what he was doing, I had to show him how to take things apart and what the functions of each component were for and which ones I thought were malfunctioningHe then took a couple photos of some parts, charged me the $and leftI got a call from him the next day saying he wasn't going to be able to fix itI ended up finding the parts I needed myself and fixed the machine myselfI have to say, for the second time in a row, it was a complete waste of time and a total waste of $and he really did nothing whatsoever to help meThis is going to be the last time I use this company [redacted]
