This company is beyond horrible; if it were possible to give them a rating of zero stars then I certainly would. When considering your move, be sure to pass ** choosing Sunshine State moving company. This business is not only shady, but also rude with terrible customer service skills. We scheduled a move from Charlotte, NC to Boston, MA. The move out of Charlotte was to take place on June 11, 2013 and sunshine was to move our belongings into storage until our scheduled move to Boston on July 1st. I received an email the morning of the 11th from [redacted] saying that they would be at our apartment between 5 PM and 7 PM that day. That was problem number one since the move was originally schedule for 8 AM that day. Later in the day, [redacted] calls back saying that the movers will not be there until tomorrow (mind you that this is after a long day of being led on by false promises and lies as to an accurate arrival time from sunshine). This again is a problem because the move was scheduled to take place on the 11th. The movers show up the next morning (the 12th) in a Penske moving truck that they most likely rented from Home Depot. It is a crew of 2 movers in a 20 ft. truck. It takes them about 6 and a half hours to clear out a 2 bedroom apartment, even though we had already packed all of the items in the apartment. Another problem occurs on the late moving day when our driver tacks an extra $1250 to the original quote (our original quote was $1524 with all charges included, and the final bill was around $2800). We pay the difference because we are essentially forced to do so (they of course notified us of the price increase AFTER all of our belongings were on the truck and it was impossible for us to negotiate the true price; this is a textbook moving-scam maneuver). After this, our belongings are moved into storage (which I am fairly certain is an open field or forrest judging by the amount of bugs and dirt that were on our boxes and furniture upon arrival in Boston).

The move-in date of July 1st comes and goes with nothing but more false promises and leading-on by sunshine ([redacted] seems to be an expert at bg). 90% of the time that we call the office, it goes to voicemail or someone answers and promises to have [redacted] or [redacted] call back but fails to do so. The office is either staffed with one person or with those that wrote the book on how to consistently and persistently frustrate customers; they will never give you a straight answer. [redacted] assures us that the move-in date will be July 4th or 5th; this date comes and goes as well. The date then is supposed to be the 8th; this dates comes and goes. The lying and leading-on continues; every time we speak to [redacted] he exhibits his rude and pompous attitude and complete lack of customer service skills. The movers finally arrive on July 12th (mind you that sunshine is very much in breach of contract at this point). The boxes arrive in terrible shape (I will post pictures); not only is every box heavily-damaged, but there are also bugs and dirt in many of the boxes. In addition, numerous clothing items have mold and mildew on them (not to mention that every box of women's clothing was mysteriously and creepily opened). The movers are insanely rude and pushy; I had to tell the guy to lower his voice a number of times. Communication skills are lacking in these movers as only one member of the crew speaks english. Lastly, some of our items are lost as well as being damaged. The movers also refuse to reassemble the bed that they disassembled is Charlotte because they lost the screws (according to the driver, this was of course the fault of someone else; this company has superb expertise at passing [redacted] buck).

DO NOT GO WITH THE MOVING COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Any reviews that you read are most likely false reviews written by sunshine movers themselves. I'm seriously not kidding DO NOT MOVE WITH SUNSHINE STATE MOVING COMPANY.

The carrier picked up our household goods on 7/1/14 and had a delivery date of 7/14/14. Today is 8/5/14 and I still have not received our delivery. We moved from Florida to California, with my spouse and 3 kids and have had to be here without our goods, paying for hotels and eat out costs at an average price of $200 per day. That is a delay of 21 days, and extra cost to us of $4,200. Today I have received a call from another company, apparently hired by Sunshine State Moving Company, and he, [redacted], with Weststar said he does not know what is going on, and that he just picked up our goods last week from Sunshine State Moving Company. Avoid this company at all costs.
