I just recieved word from the Sales Director of the hotel that they will be issuing me a refund. Since, in my complaint, I was asking for a refund, and they finally decided to give it to me, there is no further need to pursue the matter

Review: I booked a hotel room as part of a large group. I booked the room for 8/9/14. The night before I got a call from my friend who was giving me the ride to the business that he was in an accident, and unable to attend/drive. I called the hotel the morning of my reservation at 5:23 AM (the time/date/phone number are still in my cell phone history.) I spoke with a young man and told him that I would be unable to attend and wanted to cancel my reservation. I was asked my name, which I gave, and was told that I was 'all set'.On 8/10, my card was charged for the full stay. I was told my the person running the group that the hotel told him I was a 'no show', and was being charged in full. I called the manager, [redacted], and explained that I cancelled the morning of the reservation. (their cancellation policy states you must call by 6PM on the day of arrival to cancel without penalty).I was told by [redacted] that they charged my card because 'the room was used'. He asked me if anyone in my group used the room. I told him, I was not there, so I had no clue who was in the room. I asked him how someone could get into a room without the person renting it being there, and I was told that "We don't check ID's. IF someone needs a key to a room we just make it up and give it to them."I objected, and asked for a refund. [redacted] said he couldn't do that as the room was used. He then offered to refund me half the amount 'as a compromise'. I told him I wasn't paying for the full room, why would I pay for half? I then told him that I would be returning to the area in about a month from the time we spoke. I asked him to make me a reservation, and use the money he already charged and consider it even. I figured this was much more of a compromise.He couldn't do that. He then offered to give me 'a discount the next time you stay' and told me to speak to him directly. I hung up, an after discussing it with my husband, decided this was unacceptable.Desired Settlement: I would like my card refunded the full amount, as I did not stay there, and called within the correct time to cancel. I still have the call (including the phone number of the hotel, along with the date and time I called to cancel) in my cell phone history. I can provide a hard copy of it when I get my next [redacted].
