Dear Revdex.com, we have been a proud member of this organization with A+ rating for over 12 years. We have painted and renovated thousands of homes since our company was founded in 2002. We have worked with this customer and went beyond our contractual obligations to complete the project and make...

sure the customer is completely satisfied. I personally went around with [redacted] and performed a final walk around. Unfortunately, the customers expectations could not be met after numerous attempts to finalize the project. For example, the customer pointed out paint splatters on her chimney which she insisted was the fault of our crew. After examination, it was clearly evident that the paint splatters were made by previous painters since the paint had completely dried and was not removable. There are other examples which we will go over below and answer all of her questions and concerns as we have addressed in the past.  Below is a response to her issues: 1. Door Paint- Unfortunately paint does peel. This is why we have a warranty on every project. There were many layers of paint on this door and even with the best prep, sometimes issues do happen. We will be happy to come back and touch up the door since this is covered under our warranty.  2. Deck stain failure- As we explained to the customer during the initial estimate, most decks will start peeling within 1-2 Years due to the constant moisture presence, as well as normal wear and tear. Our 4 Year Warranty does not cover horizontal surfaces including decks or railings due to constant moisture. The failure is also caused by previous layers of previously applied material peeling and taking the newly applied material with it. This customers deck had poor previous paint coverage and preparation. We have done extensive scraping and sanding prior to stain application. Unfortunately, due to the deck's age, existing conditions & previous paint jobs,  the new coating will only last for a short period of time and recoating is needed.  3. Dented Gutter- Customer complains about dented gutter- We take pride in our work. We have gutter protectors when we are painting houses. We actually did not put any ladders on the gutters. Since this job was completed a year ago this is the first time the customer is complaining about this issue. I personally did not notice any of these issues. As I mentioned earlier, her house was previously done by less quality painters which could have damaged the gutter as they did splatter paint on her chimney.  4. Carpentry Repairs not completed as contracted- Our initial contract had only 1 fascia board to be replaced which was approximately 10 LF. We replaced over 80 FT of  additional trim on the house to PVC which the customer declined to pay. She wanted to have additional wood replaced which did not need to be replaced, and she expected it to be done free of charge. In conclusion, I also want to add that the customer was blaming us for an old storm window which was not function correctly, which now she is not mentioning. We explained to her many times that this was not caused by our painters and is a result of the storm window being old. Overall, we have spent more than the total cost of the project to complete this job to make sure this customer was happy. Unfortunately this is not the case and we are extremely disappointed that this is our first complaint on Revdex.com. We take this matter seriously and want to make sure that other customers who work with us know the full story of what transpired. If you have any other questions, please contact the Smart Coats Office at [redacted].
