The Actors Den Facilities Reviews (%countItem)

Tricked me into signing up for their website without first notifying me of the cancelling terms. Making it unnecessarily hard to cancel.
I received a call for an interview for TV extra work from '***'. When I went in the Reception lady gave me a form to fill for '***'. Then the Lady by the name of *** who conduced the interview did not ask me one single question and aggressively went on about how she gets people roles, how much money it could bring in etc and proceeded on to make a profile on *** without really asking me if that's what I wanted to do. I hesitantly asked if it will cost me anything and she replied it will be around $15/month but I could cancel anytime, very easily, if I didn't like it. She never once mentioned that she gave the impression that she works for the website. The online page she asked me to put in my details just had a checkbox for terms and conditions without the actual text or a link to the text of any such terms. gave me an impression that shes getting late to leave for her home and in a way forced me to signup with my direct deposit information quickly. The generic do's and don'ts she gave me read '***' as the company. I had received an email containing these terms when I was home AFTER signing up for the site and I contacted *** as soon as I became aware of them. *** conveniently replied that she has nothing to do with the website and I should contact them to cancel the subscription.

Then I emailed to the address given on the site explaining how I was not notified of the terms until after signing up and that they do not have my consent to charge me or keep my profile up. This email was replied to by 'The Actors Den' based in Ontario. The support staff blatantly told me to send them a snail mail instead and they will cancel in 30 days of receiving the letter after the 8 months have passed as outlined in the terms. Which is simply unnecessary as I have already notified them of my wishes to not be a party to any services that they offer and have withdrawn my consent to use my any of my data as I had not agreed to the terms because they were not presented to me before signing up.

It would be very unfair if I am charged for next 8 months even though I'm not interested in any service they can offer in exchange of that payment. Even Though I had already notified them- they still went on to charge me today from my debit account which was no longer authorized at that point.

Won't cancel billing no matter how request it to stop.
Almost 5 years ago I signed up with World Talent Agency (who keep changing there name) here in *** for some promotional/extra work. They signed me up to this website called Actors Den.
In the last 3 years I have tried to cancel this subscription multiple times. They indicate you have to mail them a letter (which I did, twice) yet they always either ignore my follow-ups or tell me the letter was never received.
They are taking $5.99 out of my account on a monthly basis yet I cannot login to any account anymore as they seem to have shut it down. Additionally it looks like they do they even provide a service to my area anymore.
I don't care about compensation so much as I want them to stop debuting my account!
Last transaction was on Feb 14, 2018 where they hit my account twice with their $5.99 fee.
How can I get this to stop if they claim to never receive anything I send them?
Also how is it justifiable that the only way to cancel is via snail mail. ***.
Please help!

Initial Business Response /(1000, 5, 2018/02/24) */
***

The only communication I received from *** was an email asking how to cancel. I wrote in my staff note on her account:
2014-04-15 22:36:54 WILL BE CANCELLING/SENT EMAIL
I sent an email explaining how. If she had phoned me and explained the situation to me I would have taken her off. I have done this for other clients who have claimed they wrote multiple times but we didn't receive their letters. Odd that we never receive multiple letters from clients claiming they sent them. I received no phone calls from her nor were there phone messages from her and no further emails. She may have written to her Talent Agent instead of The Actors Den/ World Talent Systems. We moved offices in July, 2017 but I made arrangements to have all mail forwarded to our new address for a year, so there is no reason as to why I did not get her letters except that *** apparently lost them. Yes, two payments were taken off her account in Feb. but if she examined her bank statement she would have seen that one was replaced by our bank. I have taken her off our banking so no further payments will be taken off her account
Sincerely,
***

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(2000, 7, 2018/03/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I sent an email to the company based on the contact information included in their response to this complaint. They responded to me and have indicated that I will not be billed further and that my information has been removed from their system.

While I continue to believe this company makes cancelling or even contacting them (as I had a different email before this complaint) difficult on purpose in order to keep billing people; they have hopefully resolved this specific complaint.
I will know for sure in a few weeks assuming they do not bill me again.

I have been trying to cancel my Actors Den account with *** for over 10 months now. They will not call me back will not email me back and will not answer the phone. They continue to pull money from my mothers credit card I was 13 at the time of signing up. We didnt realize that they would continue to pull money out of the account even though I have not even logged into my Actors Den account or used their services in 8 years. Now they wont allow me to cancel out of this as they will not answer ANY of my attempts to contact them I need answers I need this cancelled no questions asked no refunds just stop taking my money

The Actors Den Facilities Response

Initial Business Response /(1000, 5, 2017/07/13) */
When I spoke to *** for the first time it was June, 2017. I have been answering calls to this office for years and I diligently get back to our clients if they leave their name and phone number. I told *** I would take her off and I did on June 28, 2017.

THE ACTORS DEN/WORLD TALENT SYSTEMS requires all clients to post a cancellation letter. Our registration procedure explains that a letter must be written I order to cancel our services. All clients must check the "register" box in order to register, which they come to after the registration procedure pops up. We have had the same phone number since the business began. For the past two years all calls are forwarded to a cell phone, so that even on weekends and off hours, we can answer calls. We have no record of *** phoning our office or talking to someone in the office. We do not phone people back unless they leave a message, so if *** did not receive a message, then she was not called back. Just for the record, we do not accept credit cards so it was her others bank account which paid the fee for our services, not her credit card.
