Response:
Thank you for your letter dated August 1, 2014. According to your letter, a customer named [redacted] lodged a complaint with your organization alleging that he was charged a different price for his order than those listed on a website. Apparently, Mr. [redacted] went to [redacted] and ordered off a 2006 menu.
First, the owners of The Chopstick do not have any relationship, business, legal, or otherwise, with the operators of www.dineries.com We did not authorize or submit the menu that is shown on the website. We did not even know the website existed until you brought it to our attention. We will contact the operators of [redacted] directly to request that they remove our old menu from their website.
Second, the owners of The Chopstick always reserve the right to change their menu. In this particular case, the menu at issue is from 2006, more than eight years ago! Even with low inflation, it is reasonable to assume that prices will increase over that timeframe. It is unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] believes he was cheated and we hope this incident will not dissuade him from patronizing The chopstick in the future.
In the future, the owners of The Chopstick kindly suggest that customers ask for the total price at the time they place their phone order. This will prevent any misunderstanding.
