Review: Description of complaint written by [redacted]My brother, [redacted] died in [redacted], Virginia around June 28, 2014.Our family lives in [redacted], Pa. and therefore had to use funeral services totransport his body back to [redacted]. My mom (85 y/0) was referred to FrancesFuneral Home because my brother had no insurance and the price that was givenmet our family budget. These are the complaints:1) The Funeral Directer we made plans and arrangements with name was Samantha. However on the day of the viewing, we met a whole new crew of staff. I asked where was Samantha and was informed she had other appointments.2) The funeral director at the viewing had alcohol on his breath. I smelled it but didn't say anything. I was also informed by the preacher that he had alcohol on his breath.3) My brothers hair had lint in it. Someone asked me, "whats in his hair?" I informed the funeral director and he began to remove the several pieces of white lint. I could also see the incision where he had an autopsy and asked if that area could be covered which the funeral director tried to do. I didn't want my mother to see that site. He had on a pair of latex examining gloves. I couldn't understand why they couldn't put a pair of white cloth gloves on him. When questioned, I was told his hands were deteriorating rapidly.4) [redacted]It has been 120 days and we still have not received my brother's death certificate after many calls to the funeral home here locally and the person who was supposed to file the death certificate in [redacted] (name Shawn). His number is now disconnected. After calling State Vital Records in Virginia, I was informed as of 9/29/14 no order has ever been filed for a death certificate and our family paid for three to Francis Funeral Home months ago.In closing, with the heart break of losing my brother; I can't believe we had to experience such unprofessional behavior.Desired Settlement: We would like to get copies of my brother's death certificates that we paid for andreturn of our money for funeral services for mental anquish with an apology.
