Review: This vendor skillfully avoided giving me a proper assessment for removing a virus from my computer, prices well known to the vendor. Instead the vendor baited me with what they called a 'diagnostic', a service I needed wanted or needed. The vendor did this under the pretext that the diagnostic charge would be deducted from the price, without telling me what the price was although I asked several times. In this bait and switch [redacted] from The Specialist then sought to exact a price based on a diagnostic I never asked for. My inability to pay the price demanded resulting in The Specialist exacting $75 as the price for telling me I had the problem for which I had called them to fix.Desired Settlement: Stop to this cultural criminality

The Specialist which is located in [redacted] was more than happy to assist its customer on [redacted] The Specialist and the customer were in contact more than 10 times before an actual appointment was set. [redacted]: Customer stated that his computer was operating slowly and it could be possibly a virus. The customer was informed that here at The Specialist and the majority of computer repair shops in NYC the business protocol is to determine whether or not the issue is actually a virus by running a diagnostic first. On this call [redacted] was quoted a diagnostic fee that he would not lose once we found the source of issue and that the money would go towards his repair. Customer agreed. The Specialist also emailed [redacted] three times with an Appointment Reminder of his diagnostic service date.
