Tell us why here... the customer in question dropped me his car one night after coming in with his cousin and asking me prices on replacement of a bumper and a hood. when the car arrived I called him and we spoke about the car. there was no insurance on this car and it would be an out of pocket repair. the car had already been dismantled and attempted to be repaired before it arrived at my facility. we went over the car, measured out the structure of the vehicle and then spoke with [redacted] and let him know where we were at. I spoke to him many occasions about parts on this vehicle including part prices and I did my due diligence to save every where I could on his car to save him money and keep repairs as low as possible. he had pre existing conditions or problems with the electrical on this car as the dash had many error lamps illuminated including brake and lamp failure. he said he knows the issue with the brake system so we didn't do anything further as problem was in his trunk area. he visited many times during the repair process where I went over the repairs. once the vehicle was finished I called him with the total invoice and he was upset and told me he did not understand how it is what it is. I explained all this in great detail and reminded him of all the conversations we had about the different parts it needed and the prices. after that I got a phone call from his mother and she wanted to know what was going on, I explained to her everything in great detail. he did not have the money to pay the bill and I found out from her the car had insurance and was declared a total loss from her insurance company and they withdrew the claim because one of his friends at the shop where it was inspected and declared a total said he could fix it and brought it to his house and started the repairs and took his money and didn't fix the car. I explained her options on the vehicle, she said he did not have the money and did not want the bank to reposses it and was sorry he got this car because he has nothing but problems with it and should have let the car total and I said we are well past that now. so asked if I can take a payment plan. I agreed to hold the car while he was saving the money to pay the bill. I waived storage fees and held the car for almost 3 months. when he finally came to pick up the vehicle we had to jump start the car because I was sitting for so long and there was water on the carpet in the left front. he gave us the car back the next day where we removed the carpet to dry it and water test it. found his sunroof drain clogged, most likely from sitting and it being winter. we cleared the lines and made sure there was no leaks and then reinstalled the carpet. we checked the connections on the seat and cleaned the connector and applied dielectric grease and seat is functioning. one of his other complaints was his screen on the dash did not turn on. I had my technician check out all his fuses as well as all the connections for the system. to do this we had to disassemble his center console and dash and then went into trunk. in the trunk we found his entertainment system was not bolted into its bracket as well as on the right side a mess of wires that were already messed with as well as cut wires and evidence of old water damage. once my technician went as far as he could go, I contacted [redacted] and explained to him that I have gone as far as I can go trying to figure out the problem and the only thing left is I can send it to an electrical specialist for further diagnosis. I sent the car over to my electrical specialist where he sourced the problem as the communication cable between his command module in the center console to the entertainment system in the trunk. he also found salt water corrosion in connectors indication possible salt water flood damage in this cars history. as well he found multiple cut and spliced wires in the trunk and center console area. also was found the command module in the center console was a used part that had already been replaced. he explained this can be repaired but could not give a price because it will be a very involved and expensive to correct the problem from the trunk to the center console. I picked back up the vehicle and then called [redacted] and explained the findings and gave the specialists number to him so he can speak in detail if he had technical questions and needed more information about correcting the problems he has. [redacted] did not pay anything for the diagnosis and all the work that was done since pickup. all the after repairs that were found to be totally unrelated to the front collision repair [redacted] was never charged for anything. the diagnosis for his complaint is unrelated to anything I repaired. it was a pre existing condition and the problem lies between the center console inside the middle of the car and the trunk. if his screen worked before he brought me the car I can not say because I would have had no reason to turn it on as the car did not even move when the car was dropped at my facility apart. we initially had to push the car until we filled back up the transmission with fluid because the cooler was removed and the fluid came out of the disconnected lines. as far as the spare tire missing someone before me was inside the trunk because all the panels were disconnected as well as the electronic modules were all unbolted out of their brackets. I do not have his spare tire or would have any use for it. I would suggest he go to his friends house who dismantled the car it might be there. I will look around at junk yards that I deal with and see if I can get him a spare tire so he does not have an issue god for bid of a flat. this is also the first time I am hearing about a spare tire issueI don't know what else he wants me to do with his vehicle, I have done everything in my power to help him in an unfortunate situation and extended every courtesy I could do to him. not only does he have a safe and proper repair in the front of the vehicle, but I also solved his sunroof leak and diagnosed his other issue with the car that were there before at no cost to him and considerable cost to me. I have attached the invoice in which I paid the specialist for the diagnosis as well as I have over 23 hours of my technicians time in the vehicle to try to help him that I never billed him for or ever asked him to pay for. I have tried to help him as much as I can that is why I went so far to see if I can solve his issues. I have proven to me and him that the problems he has now are unrelated to the repairs we did. the car has electrical issues and has had electrical issues. I have been doing this a very long time. we have been in business for 37 years and I have been doing this for 22 years. I stand behind everything I do and try to help every one of my customers as much as I can do but the problems he has are not my creation nor of any fault of my facility. I have gone the extra mile to diagnose the problem that is why I can be 100 percent positive where the problems lie and where they came from and can defend it by experts if the need arises.if he has questions by all means he or his or his mother can contact me as I am always here to help
