Review: I purchased two gallons of paint; lime green. When he gave me the paint, he put the paint sample on the lid and the paint wasnt mixed well. The clerk had said that I just needed to mix the paint more myself. When we painted the room, the color completely seperated while drying and there were patches of yellow and green all over. I tried to return it, and show the clerk a picture of the wall, but he was nasty and just gave me back the same paint; which he mixed it for longer time. I tried it againbut it didn't workDesired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the full price for the two gallons of paint :85.58 plus tax.

Response:
Dear Mediator [redacted];
Thank you for your letter dated 7/**/2013 regarding consumer complaint ID# [redacted]. We have been in business since 1907 and to flourish for that long, I am sure you would agree, we generally have very happy customers. I am sorry that [redacted] is not among them. I have looked into the complaint that she filed by speaking with our store manager. After speaking to the store manager, I am confident that her transaction was handled to our usual high standards. [redacted] was warned in advance that the green color she picked would require multiple coats to achieve its final consistent and opaque appearance. Despite that warning, she proceeded ahead with her purchase. After painting a single coat, she returned the paint and (not very politely I'm told) insisted that the color was separating out on
her wall. We checked the paint via a "draw down" method and found that not to be the case (this check would have exposed the defect she claimed). While not impossible, separating out of colorant is a VERY rare chemical occurrence-I have seen it only a few times in my 25+ years in the business and not recently. Additionally, if that were to happen, it would affect more than just these gallons in question but ALL gallons made in that same batch (we have had NO OTHER similar complaints). [redacted]'s paint was shaken and she left the store with instructions to do additional coats. Your letter was the only other communication we have had on this issue.
While I would not endeavor to "negotiate" a settlement through the Revdex.com via this letter, my phone number and name is on our web site and I am happy to speak to [redacted] to find a satisfactory resolution.
